Book A Tale of Two Test Batteries A Comparison of the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test and the Multidimensional Aptitude Battery

Download or read book A Tale of Two Test Batteries A Comparison of the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test and the Multidimensional Aptitude Battery written by and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) and the Multidimensional Aptitude Battery (MAB) were administered to 2,233 U.S. Air Force pilot candidates to investigate the common sources of variance in these batteries. The AFOQT was operationally administered as part of the officer commissioning and aircrew selection testing requirement. The MAB is a clinical test battery and was administered to provide an intellectual baseline to assist clinicians when it becomes necessary to evaluate pilots with cognitive referral questions. A joint factor analysis of the AFOQT and MAB revealed that each battery had a hierarchical structure. The higher-order factor in the AFOQT previously had been identified as general cognitive ability (g). The intercorrelation between the higher-order factors from the batteries was .981, indicating that both measured g. Although both batteries measured g and included verbal, spatial, and perceptual speed tests, the AFOQT also included tests of aviation knowledge not found in the MAE. Additional studies are required to evaluate the utility of the AFOQT for clinical assessment and the MAB for officer and aircrew selection.

Book Collaborative Crew Performance in Complex Operational Systems

Download or read book Collaborative Crew Performance in Complex Operational Systems written by North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Research and Technology Organization. Human Factors and Medicine Panel. Symposium and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contains the proceedings of the first RTO Human Factors and Medical Panel (HFM) Symposium, held in Edinburgh, Scotland, April 20-22, 1998, including the Technical Evaluation Report and Keynote Addresses. Research and applications in human factors has frequently only considered individual operator interfaces, for limited work domains in well-defined scenarios, as evaluated by unitary measures. As we progress towards the next millennium, complex operations will increasingly require consideration and integration of the collaborative element wherein crew performance becomes a critical factor for success. The goal of this symposium has been to bring together a global perspective on issues and factors that need to be understood when systems design is focused on the crew operating in a complex environment. Hence, the papers contained in these proceedings give the reader a broad, multidisciplinary view of needs, requirements, ongoing research and development projects, and various research agendas that will bring about new technologies, approaches, and measures with regard to collaborative crew performance. The papers and multiple perspectives contained in these proceedings provide a baseline for understanding many elements of crew performance and in that sense will be valuable for the human factors specialist that must now design for the collaborative element and be concerned with the broad bandwidth of complexities within the operational setting. Additionally, the volume provides information for researchers, scientists, and engineers in many different areas who find themselves immersed in collaborative systems design.

Book Comparison of a Computerized Version to a Paper Pencil Version of the Multidimensional Aptitude Battery MAB

Download or read book Comparison of a Computerized Version to a Paper Pencil Version of the Multidimensional Aptitude Battery MAB written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study examined the comparability of the Armstrong Laboratory's computerized version and the original paper-and-pencil version of an intelligence test. The Multidimensional Aptitude Battery (MAB) is a multiscale test of intelligence that is widely used in aerospace cognitive testing. The research question was whether the two tests are psychometrically equivalent. Comparing the scores of 135 student pilot candidates who took the paper-and-pencil version to the scores of 402 student pilot candidates who took the computerized version, there are no clinically significant differences between the two versions. Full Scale, Verbal, and Performance Intelligence Quotient (IQ) scores were not significantly different across the two tests. Single factor and two factor analyses indicated that the computerized version was factorially similar to not only the paper-and-pencil pilot candidate data but also the original construction samples.

Book Comparison of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery to the General Aptitude Test Battery

Download or read book Comparison of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery to the General Aptitude Test Battery written by Pamla Palmer and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A statistical comparison of two test batteries, the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) and the General Aptitude Battery (GATB), is presented. The comparison is based on a sample that is predominantly male and white. Four different analyses were carried out and are reported here. The first analysis described the sample and its performance on the subtests and the composites of the GATB and the subtests and Department of Defense Student Testing Program composites of the ASVAB. The second analysis investigated the extent to which the ASVAB can predict GATB subtests and composites, and vice versa. The third analysis was a canonical correlation of the subtests of the two batteries. The fourth analysis consisted of principal components factor analyses of the two batteries, both separately and combined. Results showed that the batteries do not overlap enough to be considered equivalent or interchangeable, but that they do share a large amount of variance. Such shared variance is to be expected in batteries which have been developed for occupational selection or guidance for similar populations. Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), General Aptitude Test Battery (GATB), Tests. (eg).

This book was released on 1966 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the high school testing program of the USAF Recruiting Service, there is occasional reference to the relationship between the Airman Qualifying Examination and civilian tests. Information in this area can be useful in the hands of guidance counselors. This report contains data on the relationships between the Differential Aptitude Tests and the Airman Qualifying Examination. Tables are presented which can be used to estimate DAT scores from the AQE aptitude indexes or to estimate AQE aptitude indexes from DAT scores. It appears that the AQE and DAT measure essentially similar abilities. (Author).
