Book A Table Narrative of the Seven Churches of Revelation

Download or read book A Table Narrative of the Seven Churches of Revelation written by Auriol Morris and published by . This book was released on 2015-03-20 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Seven Churches of Revelation" is a tabular study of the characteristics of the seven regional churches in Asia Minor in the Apostle John's day. In these "table narratives," we isolate the characteristics of the letters the Lord told John to write and what they mean for us today. Each letter contained the name of the "Church," any "Credits" in their conduct, any "Charges" against them, the "Remedies" to the charges, the "Risks" for disobedience, and the "Rewards" for obedience and perseverance to the end. Those in rebellion against God were being shown mercy, while those who were being faithful were encouraged to persevere to the end. But lest we see this as just a great story, these same traits represent seven types of believers, then and now. However, in this apocalyptic book about the end of the Church age, there is special relevance for those who make up the end-time Church. Jesus expects us to heed His warnings to the five disobedient churches of Ephesus, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, and Laodicea; and His encouragement to the two faithful churches of Smyrna and Philadelphia.Similar to the minority of churches faithful to God in John's day, we find not much has changed. In addition, relatively few people live lives submitted to God and His agenda - most in the Church go their own way away from God furthering their own agendas. Yet, in His mercy, Jesus reveals the keys to regaining our right standing with Him. To Him, repentance and submission are the keys to reestablishing righteousness and walking in His authority. Revelation is considered the most mysterious book in the Bible, and in many ways it is. But but you do not have to know the Greek and everything in it to draw out the lessons that Jesus is teaching us today. The main lessons are how to remain overcomers in these perilous times. The most important key is to remain faithful and true to Him, and all will be well. So while most people, even non-believers, view the end with fear and trepidation, those who are in Christ, need not fear but be encouraged that every promise that He has made in His word will be fulfilled.

Book excerpt: Sometimes, churches need a little help. These days, some don't know who they are and don't know what they're supposed to be doing. Churches today are trying anything and everything to be effective, but are bewildered by worship styles, spectator syndrome, and consumerism. In the meantime, people are hungry for a relationship with a God who has substance--a God with character and integrity, and a God of grace. And they're having trouble finding such a God in churches today. Seven Letters to Seven Churches is written to challenge the church to be what God created us to be and then do what God created us to do: join Him in His mission to save the world.

Book The Seven Churches of Revelation

Download or read book The Seven Churches of Revelation written by Larry B. Patton TH.D and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-11-13 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theme of the book of Revelation is derived from its opening sentence: “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” John, the beloved disciple, is the recipient of this revelation; but Jesus Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, is its author. The major corpus of this letter to the seven churches of Asia Minor has Jesus Christ as its principal subject. Christ’s message to the seven churches of the Apocalypse (Revelation) transcends the barriers of time and space. Whatever criticisms and commendations were pronounced upon the churches of Asia Minor, the same are applicable to all churches which presently dispense similar attitudes and characteristics. The message of the Apocalypse, while couched in visions and symbols and numbers, is simply this: the final judgment of God will be pronounced upon Satan and sin, and his redeemed children will be victorious over the power and dominion of Satan. It is my hope that you will be challenged to read and study about the seven churches in the book of Revelation. Utilize the bibliography as a guide to additional resources on the subject.

This book was released on 2014-04-15 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Apostle John had been exiled to the isle of Patmos because of his stand for Christ. So on the Lord's Day, Jesus had come to him and had commanded him to write the words that appear in the book of Revelation. Revelation 1:10-11 says, "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea." Each of the seven letters had followed a simple but consistent pattern. They had begun with a simple greeting that had stated specific characteristics of Jesus. Those characteristics had been indicated to the specific church based upon what the Lord through John would be saying to the church. Following that opening characteristic, Jesus had reported to each church an assessment of where they had been spiritually. He had then given them a prescription for fixing their problems. Lastly, He had concluded each letter by giving the people in each church a promise to those that HAVE overcome. In chapter one of this book, the author, date, and occasion for the writing of the book of Revelation will be given. What evidence exists to actually show that the Apostle John had written the book? The four most popular approaches for understanding the book of Revelation will also be discussed. Had the seven letters just been written to the seven churches or is there an expanded viewpoint about their applicability? In chapter two, a consideration of Proconsular Asia will be provided. That is the area where the seven churches had been located. So in looking at it, one can better understand when the seven churches had been established. One can also better understand the spiritual problems that had been prevalent in that region. In chapters three through nine, each of the seven letters will be carefully examined. Then chapter ten will present any final thoughts and conclusions that one might draw from this kind of study. As always the purpose of this book is to honor and glorify the Lord. He is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega. He is worthy of ALL honor and glory.

Book Letters to the Seven Churches of Revelation

Download or read book Letters to the Seven Churches of Revelation written by Gregory Lund and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-10-03 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The letters of Jesus Christ to the seven churches in Revelation were tailored to address the real needs and challenges of specific churches. As we read these letters, we will discover that the needs and challenges those congregations faced are very much like those faced by our local churches today, and that Christ's word to these seven churches are as relevant now as they were then. As we give heed to the message of these letters, we will be challenged to be the church God intended for us to be. These outlined preaching manuscripts were written and delivered by Gregory Lund. The approach is solidly biblical, and the sermons expositional in nature. This book may be used as a commentary, for sermon preparation, or for group or individual Bible study.
