Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Award-winning author Terry Grosz, whose career in conservation is matched by his skill as a storyteller, revisits his rookie years as a fish and game warden for the State of California, where his on-the-job training got him into some awful scrapes (but the bad guys he chased almost always got into worse ones). As a law enforcement agent, he learned to sniff out trouble, defuse tense situations, and stay alive; and as a human being, he learned to temper justice with mercy and to treat everyone fairly. Grosz's stories are action-packed and driven by his passion to preserve our country's wildlife, whether he was working under the wing of a mentor, fighting out from underfoot of the bureaucrats, or stepping on the toes of corrupt and hypocritical politicians.

Book Mother Nature Is Trying to Kill You

Download or read book Mother Nature Is Trying to Kill You written by Dan Riskin and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-03-04 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This “fact-filled and amusing trek through nature’s dark side” (Kirkus Reviews) reveals the fascinating, weird, and often perverted ways that Mother Nature fends only for herself. It may be a wonderful world, but as Dan Riskin (host of the Animal Planet’s TV show Monsters Inside Me) explains, it’s also a dangerous, disturbing, and disgusting one. At every turn, it seems, living things are trying to eat us, poison us, use our bodies as their homes, or have us spread their eggs. In Mother Nature Is Trying to Kill You, Riskin is our tour guide through the natural world at its most gloriously ruthless. Using the seven deadly sins as a road map, Riskin offers dozens of jaw-dropping examples that illuminate how brutal nature can truly be. From slothful worms that hide in your body for up to thirty years to wrathful snails with poisonous harpoons that can kill you in less than five minutes to lustful ducks that have orgasms faster than you can blink, these fascinating accounts reveal the candid truth about “gentle” Mother Nature’s true colors. Riskin’s passion for the strange and his enthusiastic expertise bring Earth’s most fascinating fauna and flora into vivid focus. Through his adventures—which include sliding on his back through a thick soup of bat guano just to get face-to-face with a vampire bat, befriending a parasitic maggot that has taken root in his head, and coming to grips with having offspring of his own—Riskin makes unexpected discoveries not just about the world all around us but also about the ways this brutal world has shaped us as humans and what our responsibilities are to this terrible, wonderful planet we call home.

Book Spiritual Poetry inspired by Mother Nature

Download or read book Spiritual Poetry inspired by Mother Nature written by Kwabena Osei and published by K. Osei Doctrines and Publications. This book was released on 2013-12-13 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When one is been robbed of all his properties by darkness, including his soul and all his entire life and family, he cannot fight darkness to reclaim all what he is being robbed. He is totally defeated because the power of darkness is stronger than him. Sitting in limbo for someone to bail you from your misery, which you call it a miracle in a matter of a second is insignificant. What we should understand is driving a negative energy force out of the front door, another negative force enters through the window with an angelic appearance with sweet melody of the taste of music you would like to hear. So waiting and sitting in limbo and depending on someone to bail you, you are living in a fantasy world that consists of hallucinated clergy and day dreamers. No one can create a paradise for you, rather it is you who hold the key to your freedom and eternity. When darkness steals all your properties and soul, just hang all your worries, just like one hangs his clothes on a wall. Fight, cling to the universal light for we do look or search for our missing items in darkness with the light. You cannot fight darkness with darkness, neither quench fire with fire but with water. Light is the main source and a combatant to darkness. Without light in you, no matter what miracle for a better change, sooner or later, the negativity covers or takes back the center seat. But once you fight to claim an unquenchable light, there will be no more loopholes in you or a back door for the return of darkness. To survive all the great battles, you must conquer and rule yourself with the inner peace of light to reinstate the lost innocence that is not borrowed identity but the undefiled. Peace and love. Amen Amen Amen

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Literary critics have focused on the nexus between literature and the ecological environment. As a mirror of society, literature encapsulates the natural ecosystem to address environmental degradation as one of the major issues being confronted by communities the world over. Individual literary critics have demonstrated how literary writers have deliberately presented the impact of Mother Nature on the lives of characters. However, most critics have hardly demonstrated the essential role of the ecological environment on the political, social and religious attributes of human life.in Re-centring Mother Earth: Ecological Reading of Contemporary Works of Fiction, Andrew Nyongesa investigates the role of Mother Nature in the political, cultural, religious aspects of human life in contemporary novels. Using eco-criticism, the study challenges homocentric attributes of literature and shows how the ecological environment affects all facets of human life.

Book excerpt: With wonder and a sense of humor, Nature Obscura author Kelly Brenner aims to help us rediscover our connection to the natural world that is just outside our front door--we just need to know where to look. Through explorations of a rich and varied urban landscape, Brenner reveals the complex micro-habitats and surprising nature found in the middle of a city. In her hometown of Seattle, which has plowed down hills, cut through the land to connect fresh- and saltwater, and paved over much of the rest, she exposes a diverse range of strange and unknown creatures. From shore to wetland, forest to neighborhood park, and graveyard to backyard, Brenner uncovers how our land alterations have impacted nature, for good and bad, through the wildlife and plants that live alongside us, often unseen. These stories meld together, in the same way our ecosystems, species, and human history are interconnected across the urban environment.

Download or read book Praising Nature written by Marleen Rita Duckhorn and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2023-08-10 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mother Nature is always there to rely on. We can all evolve joining hands with Her. We have to choose if we are adding to, dividing or subtracting from, or multiplying Her into our lives. To do this we need to be aware, praise, accept and love. If someone divides or subtracts themself from Her intimate, ultimate nature; that is what makes them react to not go entirely with the flow of her innate wisdom. These poems were written to remind and encourage others to be grateful, thankful, and praiseful of Mother Nature's gifts of inspiration. I found fun in the writing of this collection of poems and gained deep introspection captured in my attempt to lend personality to Her wonders.
