Book Ecclesial Futures Volume 1 Issue 2

Download or read book Ecclesial Futures Volume 1 Issue 2 written by Nigel Rooms and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-12-24 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ecclesial Futures publishes original research and theological reflection on the development and transformation of local Christian communities and the systems that support them as they join in the mission of God in the world. We understand local Christian communities broadly to include traditional “parish” churches and independent local churches, religious communities and congregations, new church plants, so-called “fresh expressions” of church, “emergent” churches, and “new monastic” communities. We are an international and ecumenical journal with an interdisciplinary understanding of our approach to theological research and reflection; the core disciplines being theology, missiology, and ecclesiology. Other social science and theological disciplines may be helpful in supporting the holistic nature of any research, e.g., anthropology and ethnography, sociology, statistical research, biblical studies, leadership studies, and adult learning. The journal fills an important reflective space between the academy and on-the-ground practice within the field of mission studies, ecclesiology, and the so-called “missional church.” This opportunity for engagement has emerged in the last twenty or so years from a turn to the local (and the local church) and, in the western world at least, from the demise of Christendom and a rapidly changing world—which also affects the church globally. The audience for the journal is truly global wherever the local church and the systems that support them exists. We expect to generate interest from readers in church judicatory bodies, theological seminaries, university theology departments, and in local churches from all God’s people and the leaders amongst them.

Book Successful Home Cell Groups

Download or read book Successful Home Cell Groups written by David Yonggi Cho and published by ReadHowYouWant. This book was released on 2010-04-20 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Home cell groups are becoming a necessity in the believer's life, not only for the mega-churches but also for the small corner churches, as well. This book is a how-to resource that details everything you need to know in order to make home cell groups work in your church. The plans developed here are designed to bring intimate fellowship and involvement in the Christian's life, to effectively show Christians how to evangelize their neighborhood and community, and to share their spiritual gifts with one another. Home cell groups, therefore, give church members the opportunity to participate in the ministry of their church. Dr. Cho promises that, ''By following the guidelines I have presented here, you can bring the miracles of home cell groups and church growth to your own congregation.'' So how does a church of more than 800,000 believers grow and work? Small groups, one household at a time. Cho is careful to share both his mistakes as well as his successes. One of the prime ingredients for a successful home group program is evangelism. He insists that the cell groups focus on the neighborhoods and communities to reach the lost. Leadership, training, discipline, recognition, focus, and personal involvement by the senior pastor are other critical elements. There is a careful balance which needs to be struck between control and freedom for each group to strengthen and grow. Great wisdom is shown in relying on the Holy Spirit to strike the right balance. As a senior partner in ministry, The Holy Spirit has grown the body of Christ in a miraculous way. Recorded in this book are lessons for us all, laymen and clergy, large church and small.

At the end of your life you don't want to catch yourself saying, "That was it?" You see, without God, your life will be only earthly, natural, and predictable; it won't be supernatural or godly. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The evangelical Mongolian church has experienced significant growth since the country opened to the world in 1990. Despite the growth and emergence of the evangelical church in Mongolia, relatively little has been written on the church from the perspective of the leaders themselves. This ethnographic study seeks to express the experience of male, evangelical, Mongolian church leaders in their own words. The book focuses specifically on the leaders' experiences of conversion, discipleship, navigation of Mongolian culture and traditions, and theological education. Readers will hear from evangelical church leaders why they became Christians and what their experience with discipleship was like for them. The issue of contextualization for evangelical Christians is also a central focus. In particular, the translation of the term for God in Mongolian and the perspective of the church leaders are explored. This book will be of interest to those exploring Christianity in Asia and post-socialist contexts as well as seeking to better understand contemporary Mongolian culture.
