We sincerely hope that the conference would not only show the participants a broad overview of the latest research results on related fields, but also provide them with a significant platform for academic connection and exchange. The Technical Program Committee members have been working very hard to meet the deadline of review. The final conference program consists of 126 papers divided into 4 sessions.

Book Cavitation Study of a Propeller Operating in a Nonuniform Flow Created by a Wire Grid Screen

Download or read book Cavitation Study of a Propeller Operating in a Nonuniform Flow Created by a Wire Grid Screen written by Gary C. COMSTOCK and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tunnel test results are presented for nonuniform flow cavitation studies of a 4-bladed subcavitating propeller. The nonuniform flows were generated by wire mesh screens located upstream from the propeller. The first objective of the tests was to compare the cavitation of the propeller operating in a given axial wake as produced by a wire mesh with the cavitation in the same wake as reported by van Manen. The second objective was to determine the effect on the propeller cavitation of modifying the axial inflow velocity so as to obtain the same local inflow angles as produced by both the axial and tangential wake of the ship. Differences were observed in the cavitation patterns produced by the wakes with and without tangential component correction, but the expected transverse asymmetry was not consistently observed. The cavitation patterns in the uncorrected wake agreed well with those observed by van Manen except that the intensity varied suggesting that the cavitation index used in the two studies may not be equivalent. Book Induced Field point Pressures of a Ducted Propeller System

Download or read book Induced Field point Pressures of a Ducted Propeller System written by John J. Nelka and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Total fluctuating pressures were measured on the internal surface of a 0-degree angle-of-attack duct of a ducted propeller system (Kort nozzle type). The effects of blade loading in uniform flow and propeller blade cavitation in nonuniform flow on the harmonics of the blade-frequency propeller-induced pressure were determined. Also determined were the blade-frequency pressure-induced duct forces. Experimental results indicate that the blade-frequency pressures increase for an increase in blade loading with the second and third blade-frequency pressure being significant with respect to the blade-frequency pressure. Fluctuating blade-frequency vertical forces determined by integrating the pressure results from nonuniform inflow noncavitating conditions were approximately 1-percent of the mean thrust. In the experiments conducted at a given loading, cavitation on the propeller blades tended to increase the blade-frequency pressure downstream of the propeller by as much as a factor of three.
