This book was released on 2012 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fabricates thin film transistors (TFTs) with a transparent amorphous gallium tin zinc oxide (GSZO) channel layer. Fabricates the transistors on silicon substrates to optimize performance prior to transferring device production to flexible substrates. Addresses the effects of deposition and post deposition parameters on the film properties and interface traps. Addresses also the parameters' resultant effects on the device performance and stability with the use of various characterization techniques. Studies film properties using x-ray diffraction and transmission measurements to assess the structural and optical properties of the deposited films.

Book Solution processed Zinc tin Oxide Thin film Transistors and Circuit Applications

Download or read book Solution processed Zinc tin Oxide Thin film Transistors and Circuit Applications written by Chen-Guan Lee and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amorphous oxide semiconductors are of potential interest in the display industry due to their high carrier mobility, transparency at visible wavelengths and excellent operational stability. In this dissertation, n-channel zinc-tin oxide thin-film transistors are fabricated based on a solution-based deposition approach, which allows low fabrication cost and high throughput. The effects of device configuration and process conditions on transistor performance are investigated, and circuit applications including inverters, amplifiers, and ring oscillators are demonstrated. Charge transport in the zinc-tin oxide field-effect transistors is also investigated. A transition from thermally-activated to band-like transport is observed with increasing carrier concentration in high mobility samples, which agrees well with the key predictions of the multiple trap and release model and also Mott's mobility edge model. In addition, velocity distribution of charge carriers is studied with a time-resolved technique. This provides a more detailed picture of charge transport in field-effect transistors. P-channel organic semiconductor field-effect transistors are also investigated with a view to combine them with n-channel amorphous oxide transistors to create a hybrid organic-inorganic complementary technology.

This book was released on 2018 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metal oxides have risen to prominence in recent years as a promising active layer for thin film transistors (TFTs). One of the main reasons for this has been its value in display technology. Conventionally, displays have relied on amorphous hydrogenated silicon (a-Si:H) TFTs but the demand for large area displays with high resolution, fast response time, low power consumption and compatibility with integrated driving circuits have prompted research into other semiconducting materials. As a result, metal oxides have become major prospects to replace a-Si:H with their high-performance electrical characteristics and simplicity of processing, making them valuable switching elements in display technology. Particularly, quaternary metal oxides such as the amorphous Indium-Gallium-Zinc-Oxide (IGZO) have demonstrated extremely high performances as TFTs, prompting extensive research in the field. The conventional method of producing metal oxide thin films has been through vacuum deposition methods such as sputtering. However, for large area applications these vacuum deposition methods face inherent limitations which prevent easy application and device fabrication. Facing these restrictions, solution-processing has become a popularly researched alternative in producing metal oxide thin films due to their simple processing requirements, low cost, and ability to be applied over large areas. In solution-processed IGZO, there have been a couple approaches to improve device performance and stability as well as simplify processing. In this work, we produce a gallium-rich 2:2:1 IGZO TFT using solution processes and study its electrical characteristics and stability. In this paper, we demonstrate a working solution-processed gallium-rich 2:2:1 IGZO TFT and compare it to a solution-processed indium-rich device to quantify its stability and performance. Through this work, we show that solution-processing is a viable fabrication method for gallium-rich IGZO, which can be a high-stability alternative to other compositions of IGZO devices.
