Download or read book A Study of Parton Distribution Functions with the Use of Photon Jet Event Kinematics in P bar P Collisions at radical written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have measured the leading jet pseudorapidity distribution in photon + jet events selected from the inclusive direct photon event sample. The data are from p[bar p] collisions at [radical]s = 1.8 TeV recorded with CDF in the 1992--1993 run. This measurement has been used to study the behavior of current parton distribution sets in selected kinematic regions. The parton distribution sets CTEQ2M and MRSD0 are currently favored by this measurement.

Book Study of Double Parton Scattering in Photon 3 Jets Final State

Download or read book Study of Double Parton Scattering in Photon 3 Jets Final State written by You-Hao Chang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-20 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book mainly focuses on the study of photon + 3 jets final state in Proton-Proton Collisions at √s = 7TeV, searching for patterns of two (or more) distinct hard scatterings in the same collision, i.e the so-called Double Parton Scattering (DPS). A new method by using Monte Carlo generators was performed and provides higher order corrections to the description of the Single Parton Scattering (SPS) background. Further it is investigated whether additional contributions from DPS can improve the agreement between the measured data and the Monte Carlo predictions. The current theoretical uncertainties related to the SPS background are found to be larger than expectation. At the same time a rich set of DPS-sensitive measurements is reported for possible further interpretation.

Book Double Parton Interactions in Photon 3 Jet Events in Ppbar Collisions Sqrt s

Download or read book Double Parton Interactions in Photon 3 Jet Events in Ppbar Collisions Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have used a sample of photon+3 jets events collected by the D0 experiment with an integrated luminosity of about 1 fb−1 to determine the fraction of events with double parton scattering (f{sub DP}) in a single ppbar collision at √s = 1.96 TeV. The DP fraction and effective cross section (sigma{sub eff}), a process-independent scale parameter related to the parton density inside the nucleon, are measured in three intervals of the second (ordered in p{sub T}) jet transverse momentum pT{sub jet2} within the range 15

Book Diphoton Production in P bar P Collisions At radical

Download or read book Diphoton Production in P bar P Collisions At radical written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present measurements of the inclusive[gamma][gamma] cross section (as a function of invariant mass and photon[epsilon][sub[tau]]), in p[bar p] collisions at[radical]s= 1.8 TeV, made using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The next is leading order (NLO) QCD prediction is found to be in good agreement with the data. The effects of invariant mass and diphoton balance cuts, which test the next-to-leading order contributions to the cross section, are investigated. We also compare the distribution of[kappa][sub[tau]] between samples of diphotons and highly electromagnetic jets, and find that the NLO QCD prediction models the shape of the[gamma][gamma][kappa][sub[tau]] distribution quite well.

Book Determination of the Parton Distribution Functions of the Proton from ATLAS Measurements of Differential W plus minus and Z Boson Production in Association with Jets

Download or read book Determination of the Parton Distribution Functions of the Proton from ATLAS Measurements of Differential W plus minus and Z Boson Production in Association with Jets written by [Study Group] ATLAS Collaboration CERN and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: This article presents a new set of proton parton distribution functions, ATLASepWZVjet20, produced in an analysis at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD. The new data sets considered are the measurements of W+ and W− boson and Z boson production in association with jets in pp collisions at s√ = 8 TeV performed by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC with integrated luminosities of 20.2 fb−1 and 19.9 fb−1, respectively. The analysis also considers the ATLAS measurements of differential W± and Z boson production at s√ = 7 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb−1 and deep-inelastic-scattering data from e±p collisions at the HERA accelerator. An improved determination of the sea-quark densities at high Bjorken x is shown, while confirming a strange-quark density similar in size to the up- and down-sea-quark densities in the range x ≲ 0.02 found by previous ATLAS analyses

Book The Center of mass Angular Distribution of Prompt Photons Produced in P bar P Collisions at square Root s

Download or read book The Center of mass Angular Distribution of Prompt Photons Produced in P bar P Collisions at square Root s written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data taken with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) during the 1992--1993 run of the Tevatron are used to measure the distribution of the center-of-mass angle between isolated prompt photons and the beam direction. The shape of the angular distribution for photon-jet events is found to differ from the predictions of NLO QCD.

Book A Search for New Physics in Photon lepton Events in Proton antiproton Collisions At radical S

Download or read book A Search for New Physics in Photon lepton Events in Proton antiproton Collisions At radical S written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present the results of a search in p[bar p] collisions at[radical]s= 1.8 TeV for anomalous production of events containing a photon with large transverse energy and a lepton (e or[mu]) with large transverse energy, using 86 pb[sup -1] of data collected at the Collider Detector at Fermilab during the 1994-95 collider run at the Fermilab Tevatron. The presence of large missing transverse energy (E[sub T]), additional photons, or additional leptons in these events is also analyzed. The results are consistent with standard model expectations, with the possible exception of photon-lepton events with large E[sub T], for which the probability of a statistical fluctuation of the standard model expectation up to and above the observed level is 0.7%.

Book Direct Photon Center of Mass Angular Distributions in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Direct Photon Center of Mass Angular Distributions in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The center-of-mass angular distribution of direct photon events, resulting from proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV, as measured by the Collider Detector at Fermi lab (CDF) during the 1988-1089 experimental run, is presented. The direct photon events are identified primarily through the direct photon's characteristic isolation from other particles. The main source of background is from rare fragmentation of QCD partons into single isolated neutral mesons, which decay into two or more photons. The background is removed statistically by exploitation of tile expected difference in the resulting shower profiles. The resulting angular distribution for direct photons, in the transverse momentum range from 22 to 45 Ge V is found to agree favorably with the predictions of Quantum Cbromodynamics (QCD) for an interaction with a fermion (spin 1/2) propagator.

Book Constraints on Parton Distribution Functions and Extraction of the Strong Coupling Constant from the Inclusive Jet Cross Section in Pp Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Constraints on Parton Distribution Functions and Extraction of the Strong Coupling Constant from the Inclusive Jet Cross Section in Pp Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inclusive jet cross section for proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7$~\mathrm{TeV}$ was measured by the CMS Collaboration at the LHC with data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0$~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. The measurement covers a phase space up to 2$~\mathrm{TeV}$ in jet transverse momentum and 2.5 in absolute jet rapidity. The statistical precision of these data leads to stringent constraints on the parton distribution functions of the proton. The data provide important input for the gluon density at high fractions of the proton momentum and for the strong coupling constant at large energy scales. Using predictions from perturbative quantum chromodynamics at next-to-leading order, complemented with electroweak corrections, the constraining power of these data is investigated and the strong coupling constant at the Z boson mass $M_{\mathrm{Z}}$ is determined to be $\alpha_S(M_{\mathrm{Z}}) = 0.1185 \pm 0.0019\, (\mathrm{exp})\, ^{+0.0060}_{-0.0037}\, (\mathrm{theo})$, which is in agreement with the world average.
