Book Creep and Shrinkage

Download or read book Creep and Shrinkage written by Hubert Rüsch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on Reinforced Concrete-Prestressed Concrete, Volume 2, Accounting for the Effects of Creep and Shrinkage on the Behavior of Structural Systems by Hubert Rusch and Dieter Jungwirth, which appeared in German in 1976. Even then, it was Hubert Rusch's fervent wish to have his thoughts on the deformations of concrete translated into English in order to reach a wider audience. His earlier efforts to contribute a study to the Series of Monographs of the Ameri can Institute had unfortunately not succeeded. Despite a serious illness, Hubert Rusch undertook, with his characteristic prudence and thoroughness, the preparatory work for the translation and related revision of his book. Unfortunately fate did not grant him the satisfaction of seeing his work completed. Hubert Rusch died on October 17, 1979. In writing this book, Hubert Rusch drew on his many years of devoted study of the creep problem. These investigations go back to 1934. His awareness of the plastic deformation of concrete under sustained load, which had been reported to him on the occasion of an American sojourn, led him to discover the causes of a major building collapse. At his urging, Professor A. Hummel published, in 1935, a critical survey of the test results then available on concrete creep.

This book was released on 2019-11-14 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specificity of Deformation and Strength Behavior of Massive Elements of Concrete Structures in a Medium with Low Humidity discusses the influence of weather conditions, the density of the structure, and how these elements, along with others, affect the concrete curing process. It explores the effects of climate in all phases of construction, its impact on the rheological properties of concretes, and the carrying capacity of compressed concrete and reinforced concrete elements. In addition, it provides the methods to determine the basic heterogeneity of mechanical properties of concrete structures and novel calculation methods for concrete columns and reinforced concrete beams. Includes new, more accurate design calculation methods for predicting the reliability of concrete structures in hot and dry environments Actively investigates the behavior of basic physical and mechanical properties of concrete structures Includes data collected over 18 years of research on the dynamics of strength and deformation of concrete structures

Book Understanding the Rheology of Concrete

Download or read book Understanding the Rheology of Concrete written by N Roussel and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-12-20 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Estimating, modelling, controlling and monitoring the flow of concrete is a vital part of the construction process, as the properties of concrete before it has set can have a significant impact on performance. This book provides a detailed overview of the rheological behaviour of concrete, including measurement techniques, the impact of mix design, and casting. Part one begins with two introductory chapters dealing with the rheology and rheometry of complex fluids, followed by chapters that examine specific measurement and testing techniques for concrete. The focus of part two is the impact of mix design on the rheological behaviour of concrete, looking at additives including superplasticizers and viscosity agents. Finally, chapters in part three cover topics related to casting, such as thixotropy and formwork pressure. With its distinguished editor and expert team of contributors, Understanding the rheology of concrete is an essential reference for researchers, materials specifiers, architects and designers in any section of the construction industry that makes use of concrete, and will also benefit graduate and undergraduate students of civil engineering, materials and construction. Provides a detailed overview of the rheological behaviour of concrete, including measurement techniques, casting and the impact of mix design The estimating, modelling, controlling and monitoring of concrete flow is comprehensively discussed Chapters examine specific measurement and testing techniques for concrete, the impact of mix design on the rheological behaviour of concrete, particle packaging and viscosity-enhancing admixtures

Book Materials with Rheological Properties

Download or read book Materials with Rheological Properties written by Constantin Cristescu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-01-06 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials with Rheological Properties presents the evolution of the mathematical models used to calculate the resistance structures and the conditions which enable progress to be made in this field. The author presents equations describing the behavior of each possible type of resistance structure (with discrete collaboration, continuous collaboration and complex composition). These equations are then redefined in the particular concrete form for each type of structure, by using the notions and known parameters from the construction's statics. The mathematical models are then tested using practical case studies.

Book Fundamental Research on Creep and Shrinkage of Concrete

Download or read book Fundamental Research on Creep and Shrinkage of Concrete written by F.H. Wittmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today research on creep and shrinkage of concrete is diversified to such a degree that specialists working in different areas sometimes find it difficult to understand one-another. Materials scientists are mainly interested in processes on a microstructural level but they do not necessarily understand the relevance of time dependent deformation in structural design. On the other hand engineers who apply simplified model laws in non-elastic structural analysis are not always in the position to judge the limitations implied in their approach. It is generally realized that further development can be stimulated by a more effective exchange of results and ideas among the different groups involved. In an attempt to bridge this obvious gap in September 1980 there was a Conference organized at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. The papers presented at this meeting covered the wide range starting with microstructural aspects and mechanisms and including constitutive modelling and structural creep analysis. These contributions together with summaries of two panel discussions are being published in this volume. All serious of the meeting have been introduced by invited lectures. These papers will be published in a special volume "Creep and Moisture Effects in Concrete". This special volume is rather to be a general survey of the different areas covered while the present conference proceedings provide a unique selection of research papers. Nowadays time-dependent deformation of concrete can be taken into consideration realistically by computerized structural analysis.
