Book Changes in Arch Dimentions Atfer Extraction and non extraction Orthodontic Treatment

Download or read book Changes in Arch Dimentions Atfer Extraction and non extraction Orthodontic Treatment written by Earl Ari Mac Kriel and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Aim of this study was to determine wheteher there are changes in the interdental arch widths and arch lengths of the madibular and maxillary arches during no-extraction and extraction orthodontic treatment. The records of 78 patients treated by one orthodontist were used for this study. Statistical data analysis included descriptive statistics of the data, analysis of the matrices, Wilcoxon Signed Rank tests and Kruskal-Wallis tests of the changes which occured during treatment. The study concluded that extraction treatment does not necessarily lead to the narrowing of the dental arches in the canine region.

Book Glossary of Orthodontic Terms

Download or read book Glossary of Orthodontic Terms written by John Daskalogiannakis and published by Quintessence Publishing (IL). This book was released on 2000 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Daskalogiannakis (orthodontics and oral biology, U. of Nymegen, The Netherlands) offers a reference to material that orthodontic residents are likely to encounter during their postgraduate education and/or preparation for Board examinations. He suggests that it might also help undergraduates familiarize themselves with the terminology, serve as an update for orthodontists and general dentists, and provide help to allied professionals who collaborate with orthodontists. Cross- references are largely restricted to alternative names, and no index alleviates the neglect. There are no pronunciation guides to wrap those pretty pearlies around. c. Book News Inc.

Book Dental and Skeletal Outcomes for Class II Surgical orthodontic Treatment

Download or read book Dental and Skeletal Outcomes for Class II Surgical orthodontic Treatment written by Brittany Leigh Weaver Potts and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: Introduction: The information that details dental changes accompanying pre- and postsurgical orthodontics during orthognathic surgery treatment is disappointing and results in less than ideal surgical change, but is largely derived from university clinic samples with patients treated by residents (clinical novices). This study examined similar treatment performed by experienced practitioners and compared it to the novices' results. Methods: A sample of seventy-two class II subjects treated by experienced practitioners (EP) with a mean of 26.7 years of experience was selected. Inclusion criteria were: consecutively treated surgical-orthodontic patients with mandibular advancement, rigid fixation and good quality lateral cephalograms. Pretreatment skeletal and dental variables were compared to a sample treated by novices. This was followed by presurgery and final analyses using an ANCOVA with pretreatment values as the covariate. An efficacy analyses for treatment phase and study comparisons was the final component. Results: The novices treated significantly more severe class II skeletal patients. For both studies, there were significant positive changes in the position of the mandible. The ANCOVA analysis showed that the EP managed the bodily position of the upper incisors more effectively. The efficacy analysis found no statistically significant differences between novices and EP. For both novices and EP, according to the ANB changes, non-ideal incisor decompensation led to less than ideal final mandibular position. Conclusions: The dental and skeletal mean changes and efficacy analysis for both novices and experienced practitioners showed that presurgical orthodontic treatment often does not fully decompensate the incisors, which then limits the surgical outcome.
