Book Carp Fishing Manual

Download or read book Carp Fishing Manual written by Kevin Green and published by Haynes Publishing UK. This book was released on 2014-06-01 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carp fishing is the biggest growth area in coarse fishing. Specimen carping takes a specialist approach that sees dedicated anglers going in search of the biggest carp to inhabit lakes, rivers and canals. Once considered a niche following that only appealed to a small hard-core group of fanatics, the popularity of carp fishing has grown - and continues to grow - at a frightening pace. An increasing number of tackle companies, fisheries and tackle shops now base their entire business around carp fishing specialization and the "bug" has spread beyond Britain into the whole of western, central and eastern Europe. This sister manual to Coarse Fishing manual will show the growing band of carping disciples how to catch them through over 500 illustrations and accompanying text.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: M.J. Schwuger The Environmental Specimen Bank is a repository of representative environ mental specimens for safe long-term storage over decades and centuries without any chemical change in the constituents. It represents the modern form of a systematically designed collection which will permit comparative analyses and evaluations of chemicals in the future. The aims are: - the determination of selected chemical compounds at the time of storage, - comparative investigations with new methods for chemicals which, at the time of storage, could not be determined or were not recognized as important, - observation of trends in the environment using authentic material from the past and - documentation of long-term changes. Environmental specimen banking is thus suitable for identifying environmental changes and initiating necessary measures of remediation. It may be used to identify problems, study correlations between cause and effect and determine the effectiveness of legislative measures as well as to recommend the activities required. This is not only ecologically important, but also relevant for man, since he is the last member in the food chain and is therefore affected by all compartments of the environment. For this reason, two banking systems were established in Germany, one for environmental specimens (Jiilich), and the other for human specimens (Miinster).

Book The Old Man and the Sand Eel

Download or read book The Old Man and the Sand Eel written by Will Millard and published by Penguin UK. This book was released on 2018-03-01 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'A wonderfully fluent account of how the strange magic of water and the beings that inhabit it can enchant and intoxicate' Chris Yates Growing up on the Cambridgeshire Fens, Will Millard never felt more at home than when he was out with his granddad on the riverbank, whiling away the day catching fish. As he grew older his competitive urge to catch more and bigger fish led him away from that natural connection between him, his grandfather and the rivers of his home. That is, until the fateful day he let a record-breaking sand eel slip through his fingers and he knew that he had lost the magic of those days down by the river, and that something had to change. The Old Man and the Sand Eel is at its heart the story of three generations of men trying to figure out what it is to be a man, a father and a fisherman. It plots Will's scaly stepping stones back to his childhood innocence, when anything was possible and the wild was everywhere. *** '[Will Millard] is a master wordsmith and his first book is a joyful testament to that' Isabelle Broom, Heat '[Will Millard] writes with a genuine sense of humility (...) humour and reflection' Kevin Parr, Countryfile 'Delightful and informative (...) beautifully drawn (...)The Old Man and The Sand Eel will be enjoyed by anyone who loves the challenge and mystery of baiting a hook and plopping it into the water' Spectator 'This is post-modern nature writing that embraces beauty where it finds it and marvels at nature's tenacity (...) But there's more here than just fish. This is also a book about growing up, about how to retain a connection with those who raised you while forging your own identity - what to keep and what to discard. And it's about men. The strong surges of emotion that both draw them together and keep them apart, and the shared pastimes which recognise that intimacy and meaning aren't always accompanied by words' Olivia Edward, Geographical
