Download or read book A LONG PETAL OF SEA written by SUVASI PAWADE and published by Suvasi Pawade. This book was released on 2022-12-05 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First and foremost, I would like to thank you for reading My book. It is my hope that as you read you will find at least one chapter that speaks to you in such a way that you will want to read it again and again, and perhaps share it with my friends. I have written these chapters primarily for sailors or those interested in sailing. I hope however, that the selections of the points or ideas within this book might be enjoyed by many others who simply have an interest in, and a love for Book. My style is simple and unsophisticated. If you are an acute student of writing who counts syllables and study rhyme and meter, my ideas will probably be a disappointment to you. If, however, you read book simply for enjoyment and relaxation, thenmy book may speak to you in a special way and give you hours of pleasure. For it is this reason I write this book. I like to say my ideas of sailors and my love for sailor is nothing more than a story that rhymes… hopefully! It is my wish that my straight-forward and easy to read style is refreshing, and appeals to your taste. It has been my experience that many times it is helpful to understand what was going on in the sailors or seafarer’s life and mind of the author at the time she was writing such experiences, to better gain an appreciation of the book. With this thought in mind, each idea in the selections of this book will be preceded by a short stories and experiences by me. The commentary will give a short explanation, information, or simply set the mood for the reading. I have also added some short stories, poems about current sail ships adventures in the appendices of this book. It is my hope that the skills, as well as the stories in the appendices will add to your reading pleasure. I should mention at this time that some of my ideas reflect my faith. I think however, that these chapters will be appreciated and definitely not be found to be offensive by those persons of other faiths. It is my deep belief that we are all on our own faith journey and all are deserving of respect and reverence. Consequently, I will never intentionally write anything that would be disrespectful of any religion. As the title of this book indicates, all chapters are about sailors or sailing adventures. Many were simply conjured up from my imagination. Whether the chapters my ideas are grounded in fact or fiction, it is my hope that within these pages you will be carried away from the cares of this world to a land far away. Some of the ideas may make you sad. Some may make you laugh. Others may leave you scratching your head wondering what that was all about. Whatever your reaction, my hope is that you enjoy what you are about to read and consider the following pages my gift to you. Now find a soft comfortable chair. Throw another log on the fire. Get yourself a hot cup of tea. Open the pages of this book and prepare to let your imagination carry you away.

Book excerpt: On his fortieth birthday, Brian announced to his family that his goal was to cycle from Canada to Mexico and from the Pacific to the Atlantic coasts of the US. Over the next ten years, he explored the highways and trails of the country, stopping each evening to meet the locals in the pubs and taverns that only come alive at night. From a face-off with a languishing alligator in a Louisiana bayou to a strange evening with a wealthy and eccentric hot-air balloon enthusiast in Tennessee, his trips were never dull, and often had him wondering how he ever got into this mess. In the end, he learned that the heart of the country is not the winding mountain roads or desert highways, but the kindness, openness, and downright weirdness of its people. This collection of short stories is gathered from his adventures while perched atop the famed American barstool—with a little cycling thrown in for good measure.

Download or read book Hope Make Heal written by Maya Pagan Donenfeld and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2015-12-29 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A welcome companion to anyone suffering a great loss—20 inspiring craft projects to help work through grief, from the author of Reinvention. For anyone seeking renewal and restoration during life’s transitions and after deep loss, Hope, Make, Heal offers a unique approach to healing: using one’s hands to mend the heart. The twenty craft projects provide ways to make tangible objects that signify the qualities one seeks on a healing path: strength, calm, release, and hope. Full of gentle encouragement, each project is easy to make and suitable for those times when our minds are preoccupied and our spirits are low. Grief and pain are universal experiences that touch everyone at one time or another. When we grieve, most of us reach for the steady hand of loved ones. But even if we're blessed with an understanding community, a deep sense of isolation comes with tragedy. No one else stands in our shoes. Rarely is there another person who can understand just what it means to be you. For maker and artist Maya Donenfeld, when faced with the trauma of a sudden and unexpected ending to her marriage of sixteen years, she yearned to find something that would allow her to focus and channel her powerful flood of emotions into something she could see and touch. Knowing that busy hands can profoundly nurture the heart and quiet the mind, she began making things to wear, carry, touch, and gaze upon—beautiful and expressive objects that were simple, intentional, and most of all, meaningful. The result is the collection of projects here. This book offers a unique approach to mending wounds with inspiring projects that integrate hand, heart, and mind with thread, ink, and more. The projects encourage renewal and restoration during life's transitions and after deep loss. Each one offers comfort and support and is designed to have a personal impact on the maker and those around them. It's a resource for personal healing and a gift for your friend in need.
