I would that my life remain a tear and a smile." Poetry are filled with great thoughts and also in-depth feelings. Poetry are related to life. So one has to focus on the understanding and in depth message in each poetry. The author has nicely related the value of Tear and Smile in to his poetry. Every poem is admirable. "The cry of your spirit and I am come to comfort it. Open your heart to me and I shall fill it with light." Author has focussed on feelings. Spiritual feelings the author narrates the pain & sorrows in this world. Tears flush out sorrows and grief. Smile always gives confidence and how to face all the situations. When heart is filled with emotions and by the hurt feelings, then tears are there to help you out. Gibran thus narrates how sorrow of the heart & tears of sadness makes like how into joy. So a tear can lead to a smile because happiness and sorrow come hand in hand. Our sorrows purify us and makes us understand the world.

Book A Smile in One Eye

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Near the edge of the Baltic Sea, in a small East Prussian town, lives a happy and prosperous family. The Wobsers are patriotic Germans and faithful Lutherans with four beautiful children: chatty Trude, fearless Lotte, careful Ilse, and precocious Gerhard. The decade-older sisters treat Gerhard as their little prince. He is the apple of his father's eye. Then, one day in 1933, their world falls apart. They have been identified as Jews, a heritage never denied, but a religion never embraced. This chilling true story follows the four Wobser siblings as they struggle to survive a Nazi regime intent on their extermination. Even those that manage to flee will find themselves without a home or country to call their own. From Edinburgh to Shanghai, the Wobsers will travel the world in search of a place they belong. Author and historical chronicler Ralph Webster (a descendent of the Wobsers) deftly connects their story and survival to the struggles modern refugees face every day. In addition to serving as a fascinating piece of history, A Smile in One Eye: A Tear in the Other is a passionate call to arms for organizations and individuals to properly protect and help the world's refugees.

Book A Smile within the Pain the Story of My Life

Download or read book A Smile within the Pain the Story of My Life written by Kormassah Jallah Webs and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-02-09 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is my life story that I want to share with other women. My life was not as it seems because it had some unpleasant moments, and those unexpected experiences are individualized. Nobody prepares you for the incredible adventures of life, but you learn along the way. Pain is that internal suffering that only you can experience. Only you can rate its severity, which can put you in that position of smiling with a pleased, kind, or amused facial expression to cover the pain. We all have life experiences, whether from loved ones or acquaintances, that have left us messy and broken. A smile within the pain is a life that has been filled with pain and sorrow that kept me hostage, crippled for years. It is a life that forces me to grow and develop. I am this girl who was beaten on every side, broken beyond repair, and raped of her innocence; and all I would do was to smile in my pain as a cover-up. She had dreams growing up, but this world of uncertainty came and redirected her path. She's that teenager who gave birth twice with a future that was clouded with fear, hopelessness, insecurity, and doubts. She is that girl wandering in the wilderness for years because it was so dark, but then God came and rescued her. When she thought all hope was gone, the God of resurrection came knocking at the door of her heart, and she opened it with no hesitation. I can hear a knock from Jesus on the door of your heart. Please open it so he can repair it. Just say this with me, "Even though I have been raped on every side, I will not allow fear, insecurity, and doubts to rape my future or my divine destiny away." He turned her disgrace into grace, her pain into joy, and her sorrow into dancing. I want you to know that if God can clothe my nakedness and bring me back on track, he can also do it for you. There is no brokenness or mess that God cannot fix. Regardless of how messy or broken you are, give God a chance, and everything will be right again. Be courageous, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord in your life.

Book Twas Only an Irishman s Dream

Download or read book Twas Only an Irishman s Dream written by W. H. A. Williams and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 1996 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The image of the Irish in the United States changed drastically over time, from that of hard-drinking, rioting Paddies to genial, patriotic working-class citizens. In 'Twas Only an Irishman's Dream, William H. A. Williams traces the change in this image through more than 700 pieces of sheet music--popular songs from the stage and for the parlor--to show how Americans' opinions of Ireland and the Irish went practically from one extreme to the other. Because sheet music was a commercial item it had to be acceptable to the broadest possible song-buying public. "Negotiations" about their image involved Irish songwriters, performers, and pressured groups, on the one hand, and non-Irish writers, publishers, and audiences on the other. Williams ties the contents of song lyrics to the history of the Irish diaspora, suggesting how ethnic stereotypes are created and how they evolve within commercial popular culture.

  • ISBN : 1351562118
  • Pages : 408 pages

Download or read book Ireland on Show written by Fintan Cullen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Looking past the apparent lack of a sustainable Irish display culture, this book demonstrates that there is a very full story to tell of the way Ireland displayed its art from the late eighteenth to the early twentieth century. Ireland on Show analyzes the impact of the display of art as a significant political and cultural feature in the make-up of nineteenth-century Ireland - and in how Ireland was viewed beyond its own shores, in particular in Great Britain and the United States. Fintan Cullen directs much-needed critical attention and analysis to a subject that has been largely overlooked from an Irish perspective. This study moves beyond museums, to address the range of art institutions in Irish cities that displayed art, from the Royal Hibernian Academy, founded in the 1820s, to Hugh Lane's Municipal Art Gallery, opened in Dublin in 1908. Throughout, the book explores the battle between the display of a unionist ethos and a nationalist point of view, a constant that resurfaces over the period. By highlighting the tension between unionist and nationalist viewpoints, Cullen uses the display of art to investigate the complexities of Irish cultural life before the founding of the Free State.

Book Holy Tears Holy Blood

Download or read book Holy Tears Holy Blood written by Richard D. E. Burton and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Holy Tears, Holy Blood, Richard D. E. Burton continues his investigation of Catholic France from Revolution to Liberation. From his focus in Blood in the City on public demonstrations of the cultural power of Catholicism, he now turns to more private rituals, those codes of conduct that shaped the interior lives of French Catholic women and determined their artistic and social presentation. "Here there is rather less blood, and considerably more weeping," Burton says. In portraits of eleven women, including Simone Weil and Sainte Thèrése, he traces the lasting power of particular expressions of suffering and sacrifice. How, Burton asks, does a rapidly modernizing society accommodate the cultural-historical legacy of religious belief, in particular the extreme conservative beliefs of ultramontane Catholicism? Burton pays particular attention to the doctrine of "vicarious suffering," whereby an individual suffers for the redemption of others, and to certain extreme forms of religious experience including stigmatization, self-starvation, visions, and apparitions.
