Book Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart

Download or read book Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart written by J. D. Greear and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2013-02-01 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “If there were a Guinness Book of World Records entry for ‘amount of times having prayed the sinner’s prayer,’ I’m pretty sure I’d be a top contender,” says pastor and author J. D. Greear. He struggled for many years to gain an assurance of salvation and eventually learned he was not alone. “Lack of assurance” is epidemic among evangelical Christians. In Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart, J. D. shows that faulty ways of present- ing the gospel are a leading source of the confusion. Our presentations may not be heretical, but they are sometimes misleading. The idea of “asking Jesus into your heart” or “giving your life to Jesus” often gives false assurance to those who are not saved—and keeps those who genuinely are saved from fully embracing that reality. Greear unpacks the doctrine of assurance, showing that salvation is a posture we take to the promise of God in Christ, a posture that begins at a certain point and is maintained for the rest of our lives. He also answers the tough questions about assurance: What exactly is faith? What is repentance? Why are there so many warnings that seem to imply we can lose our salvation? Such issues are handled with respect to the theological rigors they require, but Greear never loses his pastoral sensitivity or a communication technique that makes this message teachable to a wide audience from teens to adults.

Book The Sinner s Prayer Fact Or Fiction How to Get Saved the Bible Way

Download or read book The Sinner s Prayer Fact Or Fiction How to Get Saved the Bible Way written by Andrew Strom and published by The-Revolution.Net. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than 60 years the Christian church has gone around the world telling people to "pray this little prayer after me" in order to be 'saved' or converted. Some call it "Asking Jesus into your heart" or 'Giving your heart to the Lord, ' or praying the "Sinner's prayer." But would it surprise you to learn that such a thing is found NOWHERE in the entire Bible? Is there ever a time when an apostle or evangelist in the New Testament leads someone in such a "salvation prayer" - or anything like it? No - never. We have records of literally THOUSANDS of people becoming converted in the Bible, yet NOT ONCE does anyone employ such a method. The "little prayer" simply does not exist. So why are we going around the world getting people 'saved' in a way that is totally different from the Bible? And is such a "salvation" really any salvation at all? What is the actual pattern of conversion that the apostles DID use? All these questions and more are answered in this provocative book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2014 “Christian Retailing’s Best” award finalist! What did Jesus really mean when he said, “Follow Me”? In this new book, David Platt, author of the New York Times bestselling book, Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream, contends that multitudes of people around the world culturally think they are Christians yet biblically are not followers of Christ. Scores of men, women, and children have been told that becoming a follower of Jesus simply involves believing certain truths or saying certain words. As a result, churches today are filled with people who believe they are Christians . . . but aren’t. We want to be disciples as long as doing so does not intrude on our lifestyles, our preferences, our comforts, and even our religion. Revealing a biblical picture of what it means to truly be a Christian, Follow Me explores the gravity of what we must forsake in this world, as well as the indescribable joy and deep satisfaction to be found when we live for Christ. The call to follow Jesus is not simply an invitation to pray a prayer; it’s a summons to lose your life—and to find new life in him. This book will show you what such life actually looks like.
