Book Rheo Physics of Multiphase Polymer Systems

Download or read book Rheo Physics of Multiphase Polymer Systems written by Kai Sondergaard and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1995-06-02 with total page 604 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FROM THE PREFACE Almost all polymeric systems are subjected to a flow field at least once along the route between preparation and application. . . . There is also an increased interest in predictive models on phase behavior and suitable techniques for characterizing the structure of these systems when subjected to flow. Multiphase polymeric systems are particularly susceptible to flow, which may cause orientation of species, morphological changes, and phase transitions. All these events may, in turn, affect the end product properties, such as permeability, electrical conductivity, [and] mechanical properties. In processing, escalating needs have evolved for optimization and development of novel and more uniform product properties and increased productivity. In order to arrive at an understanding of processing polymeric systems under elastic flow conditions, it is convenient to analyze the basic physical mechanisms under conditions that enable development of predictive models in conjunction with controlled experimentation. . . . In recent years, the science of rheo-physics has evolved and now involves both advanced theories and experimental techniques. Rheo-physics means the rheological, morphological, and thermodynamic behavior of structured polymer systems during flow. . . . In this monograph, the rheo-optical techniques are . . . emphasized. The book gives an introduction to rheo-physics, including fundamentals of theories, and a representative selection of applications of rheo-optical techniques for analyzing multiphase systems. The chapters contain both practical advice for the new experimenter . . . as well as review material for the experienced scientist.

Book Miniaturization in Sample Preparation

Download or read book Miniaturization in Sample Preparation written by Francisco Pena Pereira and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Miniaturization is a challenge thrown down to analytical chemistry. The replacement of conventional analytical systems by miniaturized alternatives during the last years is noticeable. Specifically, the miniaturization of traditional sample preparation techniques (e.g., solid-phase extraction or solvent extraction) led to the development of environmentally benign analytical methods. This book aims to provide an overview of the challenges and achievements inthe application of the miniaturized sample preparation methods in analytical laboratories. It includes both theoretical and practical aspects of miniaturized sample preparation approaches and hence should be of interest to researchers, students and teachers of analytical and bioanalytical chemistry, environmental sciences and environmental engineering.

Book Chemical Analysis of Food Techniques and Applications

Download or read book Chemical Analysis of Food Techniques and Applications written by Yolanda Picó and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2012-07-18 with total page 814 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The book contains twenty three chapters written by experts on the subject, is structured in two parts: the first one describes the role of the latest developments in analytical and bioanalytical techniques, and the second one deals with the most innovative applications and issues in food analysis. The two first introductory chapters about sampling technique, from basic one to the most recent advances, which is still a food challenge because is responsible of the quality and assurance of the analysis, and on data analysis and chemometrics are followed by a review of the most recently applied techniques in process (on-line) control and in laboratories for the analysis of major or minor compounds of food. These techniques ranged from the non-invasive and non-destructive ones, such as infrared spectroscopy, magnetic resonance and ultrasounds, to emerging areas as nanotechnology, biosensors and electronic noses and tongues, including those already well-established in food analysis, such as chromatographic and electrophoretic techniques. These chapters also include two important tools for solving problems in chemical and biological analysis such as mass spectrometry and molecular-based techniques"--Provided by publisher.
