Book excerpt: Most Churches teach that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are equal beings and somehow, the same God. They themselves admit, “It is a mystery beyond our comprehension.” Still however, they want us as followers, to accept this belief with faith despite the fact they cannot explain it. Because of this and the lack of support from the scriptures, do we not have every right to question it? Do the scriptures show there is a three in one God? Jesus said at John 6: 38 (NIV, bolding added for emphasis) “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.” This scripture describes two wills. If there are two wills, then there must be two beings. If one sends the other, then one is evidently in charge which means they cannot be the same or equal. Many other scriptures concur, such as 1 Corinthians 11: 3 (NIV) that reads, “... the head of Christ, is God.” The book highlights the scriptures used for support of this doctrine and includes the contexts that surround those same verses to show that the Bible does not teach a triune type of God anywhere. This book offers over one hundred scriptures that combine to prove the falseness of the teaching of the Trinity. Besides more than enough scriptural evidence, the book also brings into focus how other Bible versions render those same “Trinity” scriptures and dives into the history of this doctrine. When these things are all exposed, the Trinity fails to deliver as truth.

Book The Doctrine of the Trinity

Download or read book The Doctrine of the Trinity written by Sir Anthony Buzzard and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2023-11-30 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important work is a detailed biblical investigation of the relationship of Jesus to the one God of Israel. The authors challenge the notion that biblical monotheism is legitimately represented by a Trinitarian view of God and demonstrate that within the bounds of the canon of Scripture Jesus is confessed as Messiah, Son of God, but not God Himself. Later Christological developments beginning in the second century misrepresented the biblical doctrine of God and Christ by altering the terms of the biblical presentation of the Father and Son. This fateful development laid the foundation of a revised, unscriptural creed that needs to be challenged. This book is likely to be a definitive presentation of a Christology rooted, as it originally was, in the Hebrew Bible. The authors present a sharply-argued appeal for an understanding of God and Jesus in the context of the original Christian documents. Book Two Views on the Doctrine of the Trinity

Download or read book Two Views on the Doctrine of the Trinity written by Stephen R. Holmes and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2014-09-02 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christians have always believed in the triune God, but they haven't always understood or used the doctrine of the Trinity consistently. In order to form a coherent view of trinitarian theology, it's important for Christians to have a working knowledge of the two legitimate models for explaining this doctrine: Classical – presenting a traditional view of the Trinity, represented by the Baptist theologian Stephen R. Holmes and the Roman Catholic theologian Paul D. Molnar. Relational – presenting the promise and potential hazards of a relational doctrine, represented by the evangelical theologian Thomas H. McCall and the Baptist philosopher Paul S. Fiddes. In this volume of the Counterpoints series, leading contributors establish their models and approaches to the doctrine of the Trinity (or, the relationship between the threeness and oneness of the divine life). Each expert highlights the strengths of his view in order to argue how it best reflects the orthodox perspective. In order to facilitate a genuine debate and to make sure that the key issues are revealed, each contributor addresses the same questions regarding their trinitarian methodology, doctrine, and its implications.
