Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a true story about the author's life who named herself Connie. The book is her life's journey with the Lord and His miraculous interventions throughout those years. She made countless mistakes; however, the Lord, due to His infinite mercy and love, saved her children and her from the horrors of many of those mistakes over and over again. Her book is filled with supernatural experiences--one miracle after another. She believed the Lord wanted it written to increase faith in not only His saved children but also in His abused ones. The Lord is no respecter of persons (Romans 2:11). The Lord loves us all the same. The Lord intervenes in one's life when one loves Him and has faith. Faith moves our Lord. In the book, Connie endeavors to demonstrate this truth. Connie loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She met Him as a child, and He became to her a mother and a father. As an adult, because of distrustful relationships with those around her, fear caused decisions that warranted a way of escape. That means of escape would, many times, birth a miracle. In other words, many of her decisions would cause a nightmare to erupt in her life. But before the eruption, a miracle would cancel and shatter the nightmare.

Reader discretion is advised. "Before we begin, let me tell you how this is going to go. I am going to tell you a story and you are going to listen. And I insist you listen well because I have something very important to tell you: there will be no happy ending. The good guy does not win. The bad guy does not lose. Bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people. Balance & Order is dead, and you are going to have to live with that. Why am I telling you this? It's simple, not everything is about you, dear reader, and you are going to have to be okay with that if we are going to continue this story. Otherwise, I'll just burn every-thing to the ground and start over. Again. What? Did you think this was the first time we've done this? Oh, don't be so naïve, otherwise, this isn't going to be any fun. Let's start from the beginning, shall we? - Unknown" "Shattered Nightmares" delves into the twisted psyche of Renata Jones, a tormented twenty-year old haunted by fragmented memories and recurring nightmares. As Renata navigates a labyrinth of dreams and reality, the line between the two blurs, leaving her to question what is real and what is imagined. With elements of psychological thriller and dark fantasy, the story unfolds as Renata confronts personal demons, uncovers shocking truths, and ultimately strives to break free from the suffocating grip of the past all while trying to survive in the world of the Fae.

Book excerpt: The author contends that from Mughal times right up to modern day Pakistan, Muslims belonging to the more modest segments of society have always been more enterprising than those hailing from the priviliged classes. The author cites modern day examples to show that small scale entrepreneurs have contributed more to Pakistan's economy than the privileged classes who walk the corridors of power, hold the reins of big business, or sponge off the land and its people as feudal landlords.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Groundbreaking Guide to the HPV Vaccine and the Science, Safety, and Business Behind It Cancer strikes fear in people’s hearts around globe. So the appearance of a vaccine to prevent cancer–as we are assured the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine will–seemed like a game-changer. Since 2006, over eighty countries have approved the vaccine, with glowing endorsements from the world’s foremost medical authorities. Bringing in over $2.5 billion in annual sales, the HPV vaccine is a pharmaceutical juggernaut. Yet scandal now engulfs it worldwide. The HPV Vaccine on Trial is a shocking tale, chronicling the global efforts to sell and compel this alleged miracle. The book opens with the vaccine’s invention, winds through its regulatory labyrinths, details the crushing denial and dismissal of reported harms and deaths, and uncovers the enormous profits pharma and inventors have reaped. Authors Holland, Mack Rosenberg, and Iorio drill down into the clinical trial data, government approvals, advertising, and personal accounts of egregious injuries that have followed in countries as far-flung as Japan, Australia, Colombia, India, Ireland, the U.K. and Denmark. The authors have written an unprecedented exposé about this vaunted vaccine. Written in plain language, the book is for everyone concerned – parents, patients, doctors, nurses, scientists, healthcare organizations, government officials, and schools. Ultimately, this book is not just about the HPV vaccine, but about how industry, government, and medical authorities may be putting the world’s children in harm’s way.

Book The Shattered Dream

Download or read book The Shattered Dream written by Alexander Szurek and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do smokers claim that the first cigarette of the day is the best? What is the biological basis behind some heavy drinkers' belief that the "hair-of-the-dog" method alleviates the effects of a hangover? Why does marijuana seem to affect ones problem-solving capacity? Intoxicating Minds is, in the author's words, "a grand excavation of drug myth." Neither extolling nor condemning drug use, it is a story of scientific and artistic achievement, war and greed, empires and religions, and lessons for the future. Ciaran Regan looks at each class of drugs, describing the historical evolution of their use, explaining how they work within the brain's neurophysiology, and outlining the basic pharmacology of those substances. From a consideration of the effect of stimulants, such as caffeine and nicotine, and the reasons and consequences of their sudden popularity in the seventeenth century, the book moves to a discussion of more modern stimulants, such as cocaine and ecstasy. In addition, Regan explains how we process memory, the nature of thought disorders, and therapies for treating depression and schizophrenia. Regan then considers psychedelic drugs and their perceived mystical properties and traces the history of placebos to ancient civilizations. Finally, Intoxicating Minds considers the physical consequences of our co-evolution with drugs—how they have altered our very being—and offers a glimpse of the brave new world of drug therapies.

Book excerpt: The American Nightmare: Don DeLillo's Falling Man and Cormac McCarthy's The Road presents an extensive analysis of two novels by the two most prominent contemporary American writers. The book searches into the stylistic and linguistic complexities of those two post-9/11 novels and explores the ways in which they respond to the public discourse produced in the aftermath of the event.
