Book A Search for Scalar Bottom Quarks from Gluino Decays in Anti p P Collisions at S

Download or read book A Search for Scalar Bottom Quarks from Gluino Decays in Anti p P Collisions at S written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We searched for scalar bottom quarks in 156 pb−1 of {bar p}p collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV recorded by the CDF II experiment at the Tevatron. Scalar bottom quarks can be produced from gluino decays in R-parity conserving models of supersymmetry when the mass of the gluino exceeds that of the scalar bottom quark. Then, a scalar bottom quark can decay into a bottom quark and a neutralino. To search for this scenario, we investigated events with large missing transverse energy and at least three jets, two or more of which were identified as containing a secondary vertex from the hadronization of b quarks. We found four candidate events, where 2.6 ± 0.7 are expected from standard model processes, and placed 95% confidence level lower limits on gluino and scalar bottom quark masses of up to 280 and 240 GeV/c2, respectively.

This book was released on 2004 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors have performed a search for the scalar bottom quark ({tilde b}{sub 1}) from gluino ({tilde g}) decays in an R-parity conserving SUSY scenario with m{sub {tilde g}}> m{sub {tilde b}{sub 1}}, by investigating a final state of large missing transverse energy, with three or more jets, and some of them from the hadronization of b-quarks. A data sample of 156 pb{sup -1} collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab at a center-of-mass energy of {radical}s = 1.96 TeV was used. For the final selection, jets containing secondary displaced vertices were required. This analysis has been performed ''blind'', in that the inspection of the signal region was only made after the Standard Model prediction was finalized. Comparing data with SUSY predictions, they can exclude masses of the gluino and sbottom of up to 280 and 240 GeV/c{sup 2} respectively.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for direct production of scalar bottom quarks ({bar b}) is performed with 310 pb−1 of data collected by the D0 experiment in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The topology analyzed consists of two b jets and an imbalance in transverse momentum due to undetected neutralinos ({tilde {chi}}1°), with {tilde {chi}}1° assumed to be the lightest supersymmetric particle. They find the data consistent with standard model expectations, and set a 95% C.L. exclusion domain in the (m{sub {tilde b}}, m{sub {tilde {chi}}}) mass plane, improving significantly upon the results from Run I of the Tevatron.

Book Search for the Production of Scalar Bottom Quarks in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Search for the Production of Scalar Bottom Quarks in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report on a search for direct scalar bottom quark (sbottom) pair production in p{bar p} collisions at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV, in events with large missing transverse energy and two jets of hadrons in the final state, where at least one of the jets is required to be identified as originating from a b quark. The study uses a CDF Run II data sample corresponding to 2.65 fb−1 of integrated luminosity. The data are in agreement with the standard model. In an R-parity conserving minimal supersymmetric scenario, and assuming that the sbottom decays exclusively into a bottom quark and a neutralino, 95% confidence-level upper limits on the sbottom pair production cross section of 0.1 pb are obtained. For neutralino masses below 70 GeV/c2, sbottom masses up to 230 GeV/c2 are excluded at 95% confidence level.

Download or read book Search for Gluino Mediated Sbottom Production in P Anti p Collisions at S written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report on a search for the supersymmetric partner of the bottom quark produced from gluino decays in data from 2.5 fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab at √s = 1.96 TeV. Candidate events are selected requiring two or more jets and large missing transverse energy. At least two of the jets are required to be tagged as originating from a b quark to enhance the sensitivity. The results are in good agreement with the prediction of the standard model processes, giving no evidence for gluino decay to sbottom quarks. This result constrains the gluino-pair-production cross section to be less than 40 fb at 95% credibility level for a gluino mass of 350 GeV/c2.

This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I present the results of a search for pair production of scalar top quarks (t̃1) in an R-parity violating supersymmetric scenario using 322 pb−1 of pp collisions at [square root]s = 1.96 TeV collected by the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab. I assume each t̃1 decays into a [tau] lepton and a [beta] quark, with branching ratio [beta], and search for nal states containing either an electron or a muon from a leptonic [tau] decay, a hadronically decaying [tau] lepton, and two or more jets. Two candidate events pass my nal selection criteria, consistent with the expectation from standard model processes. I present upper limits on the cross section times branching ratio squared [sigma](t̃1t̃1) X [beta]2 as a function of the stop mass (mt̃1). Assuming [beta]= 1, I set a 95% condence level limit m(t̃1)> 153 GeV=c2. These limits are also fully applicable to the case of a pair produced third generation scalar leptoquark that decays into a [tau] lepton and a [beta] quark.

Download or read book Search for Pair Production of Third generation Scalar Leptoquarks and Top Squarks in Proton proton Collisions at arrow written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for pair production of third-generation scalar leptoquarks and supersymmetric top quark partners, top squarks, in final states involving tau leptons and bottom quarks is presented. The search uses events from a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb-1, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC with [arrow]" = 8 TeV. The number of observed events is found to be in agreement with the expected standard model background. Third-generation scalar leptoquarks with masses below 740 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level, assuming a 100% branching fraction for the leptoquark decay to a tau lepton and a bottom quark. In addition, this mass limit applies directly to top squarks decaying via an R-parity violating coupling [lambda]'333. The search also considers a similar signature from top squarks undergoing a chargino-mediated decay involving the R-parity violating coupling [lambda]'3jk. Each top squark decays to a tau lepton, a bottom quark, and two light quarks. Top squarks in this model with masses below 580 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level. The constraint on the leptoquark mass is the most stringent to date, and this is the first search for top squarks decaying via [lambda]'3jk.
