Book Seeing and savouring Jesus Christ

Download or read book Seeing and savouring Jesus Christ written by JOHN PIPER and published by Inter-Varsity Press. This book was released on 2020-05-21 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is Jesus Christ? You've never met Him in person, and you don't know anyone who has. But there is a way to know who he is. How? Jesus Christ - the divine Person revealed in the Bible - has a unique excellence and a spiritual beauty that speaks directly to our souls and says, "Yes, this is truth." It's like seeing the sun and knowing that it is light, or tasting honey and knowing that it is sweet. The depth and complexity of Jesus shatter our simple mental frameworks. He baffled proud scribes with his wisdom but was understood and loved by children. He calmed a raging storm with a word but would not get himself down from the cross. Look at the Jesus of the Bible. Keep your eyes open, and fill them with the portrait of Jesus in God's Word. Jesus said, "If anyone's will is to do God's will, He will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority." Ask God for the grace to do His will, and you will see the truth of His Son. John Piper has written this book in the hope that all will see Jesus for who he really is and will come to enjoy him above all else.

Book excerpt: Only one thing stands between you and victory: faith and relationship with God in Jesus Christ. What is the world coming to? The economy is hurting, layoffs are prevalent, and society is anxious. Natural disasters continue to multiply. The home is crumbling. War is killing its thousands. Terrorism is terrifying! Satan is filling religion with dogmatism and pessimism. Sickness and death are marching forward with intensity. Depression is stealing the joy of many people. Wouldnt it be great to walk out by claiming the victory that is in Christ? God is worthy of our praise. In the Bible believers lived shouting, Hallelujah, while celebrating Gods deliverance over Satan and ultimately over sin at the coming of Christ. Praise (glory, honor, commendation, and joy) is ascribed to God in respect of His glory exhibited in the character and victory operations of Christ. The Revelation celebrates victory in all ages while looking to a prevailing life with Christ in the present age and in heaven. Praise God, We Won magnifies the story of praise and victory in reality to every believer in Christ. We are more than conquerors through Him who loves us!

Download or read book Jesus the Truth of His Coming written by Pastor Arthur Lands and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-12-10 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains literally what God says, not my opinion. Neither do I quote other peoples opinion. I'm only comparing two doctrines, the Pre-tribulation Rapture doctrine and the Post-tribulation doctrine. I have taught these truths to my people and shared it with other preachers. Twelve of those preacher friends of mine have changed their prophetic view of the coming of the Lord. Some preachers and several deacons have said this book took the confusion out of the second coming of the Lord. They once believed in a Pre-tribulation Rapture of the church. However, after reading my individual chapters and studying the Word of God they changed their position on when the Lord will return for his people. The Day of the Lord will bring about this great event. God will bring with Him the sleeping saints to be raised from the dead. This is the first resurrection. He will make all of His Son's enemies His footstool, while Jesus returns as promised! The resurrected and living saints will meet Jesus in the air. Jesus will tread the winepress of the wrath of God, destroying the remnant that God has left. Thee coming of the Lord is only a ONE-TIME EVENT! Please don't take my word for it. Study, I have given you the scriptures to follow! One last thought. See the picture on the front cover and the two pictures on the back. These portray in picture form three different examples of the coming of the Lord. They are all different. Is Jesus coming back three times, two times, or one time? This book will help you understand this.

Book excerpt: "The soul is lifted up by the contemplation of the glory of God and of his only begotten Son," writes R. C. Sproul. "It is Christ in his glory who is the object of our worship and adoration. As Christians we join the communion of saints and the host of heaven in lifting up praise and honor to him." During his earthly life and ministry, Jesus experienced humiliation and suffering. "His humanity served as a veil that concealed the splendor of his deity," Sproul continues. "Yet there were moments when his glory shone through." These moments become the focus of The Glory of Christ. From the angels' revelation of Jesus' glory to the shepherds outside Bethlehem, to Jesus' life-changing revelation of his glory to Paul on the Damascus Road, Sproul guides us to a deeper understanding of Christ's glory. Paul said to King Agrippa about his conversion experience, "I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven." Sproul concludes: "This is the statement every Christian longs to make at the end of his life. This is the proper response to the manifestation of the glory of Christ." Book jacket.

Book excerpt: Bestselling Author John Piper Examines End-Times Theology and Scripture's Command to Love the Second Coming of Christ Many people are curious about the second coming of Christ—what it will be like, when it will happen, and what signs will come first. In his latest book, Come, Lord Jesus, John Piper addresses all these issues, but stresses that those who love the second coming of Christ will receive a crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:6–8). Piper examines key biblical texts around the second coming while encouraging readers toward a Spirit-awakened affection for Jesus's return. He also explores important questions such as, Could Jesus come at any moment, or must certain events happen first?; What does it mean to "Watch, for you know neither the day nor the hour"?; and What should we be doing when he comes? With a special focus on the teachings of Jesus, Paul, and Peter, Come, Lord Jesus portrays not only the glory of the revealed Savior, but also the glorification of the resurrected saints. Essential, Christ-Exalting Eschatology: Piper guides Christians to examine whether they long for the appearing of Christ, and what this event will mean for Christians, non-Christians, and for Christ himself Careful Exegesis: Piper pays close and precise attention to the words of Scripture, especially with a view to showing how Jesus and Paul were of one mind about the second coming Practical: The final 5 chapters are devoted to how Christians should live in this age between the first and second appearing of Christ Written by Bestselling Author John Piper: Author of Don't Waste Your Life, Desiring God, and Providence

Book This Gospel Revolution

    Book Details:
  • Author : Sam Ore
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2018-08-29
  • ISBN : 9781732748309
  • Pages : 140 pages

Download or read book This Gospel Revolution written by Sam Ore and published by . This book was released on 2018-08-29 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Gospel Revolution underscores Jesus Christ as the thematic truth of the scriptures. The whole Bible is all about Jesus revealing the heart of the Father God to us through the Holy Spirit. He's the central person in the Trinitarian eternal vision for the human race. Reading the Bible or exploring the entire cosmos without seeing Jesus is a futile intellectual exercise with no life. Sam Ore, in his characteristic in-depth study of volatile subjects, postulates that Jesus, who is grace personified, is the only reason an average human being, regardless of race, gender or religion has the capacity to feel and experience love, compassion, brilliance and other positive emotions in the realm of the soul. The book is a direct attack on false religion, a feudalistic system that produces structural class consciousness which tends to marginalize the people for who Jesus died to redeem. Most of the people we refer to as God haters are simply afraid of lifeless religion as a result of our refusal to see the Father's heart of God from the lens of Jesus the Son. For the accuracy and the precision of our basic theology to be faultless, it is in our best interest to always relate with God from the point of view of Jesus, the only Person who knows our Heavenly Father best. " .. No one knows the Father but the Son ... " Jesus says. (Matthew 11:27). The author, by the Spirit prophetically unveils the mind of the Father God for the last days. "After the major shaking, there shall be a compression of times and seasons in eternity for a divine acceleration and manifestation of God's glory for the Jesus-centered church." He says. This glory will hit the planet in a fashion that the world has never seen before. For those of us who will trust in God's grace, instead of working and resting, there shall be a supernatural reversal, we will rest and then work. We will be working while resting in Jesus and His finished work of grace alone. Get ready.

  • Author : Jonathan King
  • Publisher : Lexham Press

Download or read book The Beauty of the Lord written by Jonathan King and published by Lexham Press. This book was released on 2018-05-30 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why is God's beauty often absent from our theology? Rarely do theologians take up the theme of God's beauty—even more rarely do they consider how God's beauty should shape the task of theology itself. But the psalmist says that the heart of the believer's desire is to behold the beauty of the Lord. In The Beauty of the Lord, Jonathan King restores aesthetics as not merely a valid lens for theological reflection, but an essential one. Jesus, our incarnate Redeemer, displays the Triune God's beauty in his actions and person, from creation to final consummation. How can and should theology better reflect this unveiled beauty? The Beauty of the Lord is a renewal of a truly aesthetic theology and a properly theological aesthetics.

Book The Revealing

    Book Details:
  • Author : Gary L. Huffman
  • Publisher : Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
  • Release : 2017-05-28
  • ISBN : 9781547011773
  • Pages : 340 pages

Download or read book The Revealing written by Gary L. Huffman and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-05-28 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The pillar and the cloud of Exodus will appear again, in the very last days over Zion. And the Church of Jesus Christ will be a vital part of this brilliant display. Few Christians comprehend the Christian's inheritance to partake of the Divine Nature. To withstand coming persecution and hardship, comprehending our destiny will be indispensable. The Revealing is riveting because it teaches how we must prepare ourselves spiritually for Christ's coming. It offers an inspiring, positive account of the wonderful provision God has made for His children. In short, The Revealing will impact your spiritual life as few books have. Through a detailed study of the Scripture and citing deep teaching from biblical scholars, the authors uncover multiple truths unfamiliar to even the most advanced students of the Bible: -Why is heaven not the believer's ultimate reward? -Why is the New Jerusalem a people and not just a place? -What is our surest motive to persevere through persecution? -Why do tribulations and trials bring us closer to glory? -How does the Hebrew Tabernacle prefigure New Testament teaching on justification, sanctification, and glorification? -What does the Feast of Tabernacles teach about the "afterlife?" -Does the ministry of the Church continue AFTER the Rapture? -Will we appear on the earth during the Great Tribulation? Authors Huffman and Woodward reveal that failing to fathom the riches of God's glory and ignoring the commandment to seek His glory undermines our quest to be "imagers of God." The promise of God's glory - our inheritance - will transform us now. Seemingly improbable, we obtain the glory of God in part when we follow the process and practice to apprehend it, while we focus on Christ and this "precious gift... to be partakers of the divine nature." (2 Peter 1:4) The Revealing unlocks one of the Bible's most vital truths through advancing a comprehensive argument for the pursuit of sanctification and the assurance of God endowing us with glory.

Book The Faith of Jesus Christ

  • Release : 2002
  • ISBN : 9780802849571
  • Pages : 364 pages

Download or read book The Faith of Jesus Christ written by Richard B. Hays and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2002 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this important study Hays argues against the mainstream that any attempt to account for the nature and method of Paul's theological language must first reckon with the centrality of narrative elements in his thought. Through an in-depth investigation of Galatians 3:1-4:11, Hays shows that the framework of Paul's thought is neither a system of doctrines nor his personal religious experience but the "sacred story" of Jesus Christ.
