Proper selection of the suppliers not only avoids manufacturing delays but also helps saving material cost, leading to increase in the profit margins of the organizations. Thus, supplier selection has become crucial in today's extremely competitive global environment for any organization to be successful. Availability of a large number of alternative suppliers with dissimilar strengths and weaknesses for different criteria requires a cautious step towards supplier selection. In the recent past, various Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods have been successfully employed by the researchers to deal with the supplier selection problems. In this paper, Multi-Objective Optimization on the basis of Ratio Analysis (MOORA) is applied to solve two real-time supplier selection problems. The ranking performance of two extensions of MOORA method, i.e., full multiplicative MOORA method and reference point approach, are also tested for the considered problems. The results obtained using these three methods are observed to be almost similar to those derived by the past researchers.

This paper attaches great importance to present a multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) method to deal with selecting an appropriate construction scheme for subways. The process of selecting an appropriate construction scheme for subways is complex because it includes a great deal of fuzzy and uncertain information which can be presented by multi-valued neutrosophic numbers (MVNNs). In addition, in order to handle the interaction of inputs, an improved generalized multi-valued neutrosophic weighted Heronian mean (IGMVNWHM) operator is introduced. Subsequently, a new distance measure between two MVNNs is defined for deriving the objective criteria weights.

The MCDM framework is applied for chief executive officer (CEO) selection in a case study at the Elsewedy Electric Group, Egypt. The proposed approach allows us to assemble individual evaluations of the decision makers and therefore perform accurate personnel selection. The outcomes of the proposed method are compared with those of the related works such as weight sum model (WSM), weight product model (WPM), analytical hierarchy process (AHP), multi-objective optimization based on simple ratio analysis (MOORA) and ANP methods to prove and validate the results.

Book excerpt: With increasing global concerns toward environmental protection and sustainable development, green supply chain management (GSCM) has drawn much attention from academicians and practitioners. Selecting an optimal green supplier is a critical part of GSCM, which can be viewed as a kind of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem. To derive the best result, large group of decision makers are often involved in the green supplier selection nowadays. Besides, decision makers tend to express their evaluations utilizing uncertain linguistic terms due to the vagueness of human thinking. Hence, this paper aims to propose a hybrid MCDM approach for green supplier selection within the large group setting. More concretely, interval-valued intuitionistic uncertain linguistic sets (IVIULSs) are applied for assessing the performance of green suppliers concerning each criterion. Ant colony algorithm is utilized to cluster decision makers into several subgroups. The linear programming technique for multidimensional analysis of preference (LINMAP) is adopted for the determination of the optimal weights of criteria objectively. Finally, an extended MULTIMOORA approach is utilized to generate the ranking of alternative suppliers. The practicality and usefulness of the developed large group green supplier selection framework is illustrated using an empirical example of a real estate company.
