Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the time we wear a mask. Nobody knows exactly what lies in a person¿s mind. But deep into the recesses of the human psyche are the untold wishes, darkest thoughts, and repressed memories.Free Fasick dug into the depths of the human mind and put it into artful expression in her collection of poetry in Poems of a Schizophrenic, where dreamy sequences were captured in vivid detail. She delved into the morbid illusions of death, the urge to kill or being killed, dreams about the innermost fears, and state of paranoia, where demons and evil beings are the powerful ones. And then she painted a picture of love, devotion, and belief in God, where the acceptance of a schizoid¿s personality is full and rational.Fasick¿s poetry is a joy to read with its rhythm and rhyme and surprisingly gripping expression of thoughts.

Book Surviving Schizophrenia and Poetry

Download or read book Surviving Schizophrenia and Poetry written by Bob Crew and published by Chipmunka Publishing. This book was released on 2007-08 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Description Chipmunka presents two of Bob Crew's extraordinary books in a single paperback... 'Surviving Schizophrenia' The eighteen poems in this collection are written in remembrance of the late Roy Crew, who suffered from schizophrenia in Britain from the 1940s until the 1960s. They are written by his brother, Bob Crew, who is a published poet who visited Roy regularly and observed him carefully throughout his long illness. They tell the story of Roy's illness and ultimate survival and they are the kind of poems that Roy could not have written for himself because his condition was too severe and he had no apparent talent for poetry. 'Mind and Soul Poetry' This book of poetry provides us with a wide-ranging picture of mental health in the UK and the contribution that poetry can make to a better understanding of our mental condition and the reasons for it. About the Author Bob Crew is a published author and poet whose others books - Sea Poems, Gurkhas at War and The Beheading & other True Stories - are currently in the bookstalls and on Amazon. Book Extract "Knitting Patterns Unpicking knitting in the woolly thinking of the woven heart with its crosswise threads of emotion spun like cotton to make a complicated work of intricate thought that is patterned and poked by needles from the planet mind to clarify the pulsating knowledge of this muscle of all muscles, rhythmic with circulating blood with which to take and to give heart, expressing hidden meaning through so much feeling with stitches of plain and also of purl poetry dripping with lifeblood and best known to those who knit and to others who carefully un-knit. The Key In The Lock The locked mind can only be unlocked by a very special key from the world of imagery that needs no commentary or explanation to set thoughts free. The locked mind can only unwind and become gradually unblocked after the key that was thrown away has been retrieved from yesterday when imprisonment held sway. The effortless insertion of the key in the lock will set minds free as it opens them up to poetry. Don't throw the key away.

Book Schizophrenia and Multiculturalism

Download or read book Schizophrenia and Multiculturalism written by Moeze Lalji and published by Chipmunkapublishing ltd. This book was released on 2011-06-01 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DescriptionThis is Lalji's second collection of poetry, and, without doubt, his skills are growing. Deceptively simple at first glance, this collection draws on Ismaili traditions and forms whilst reflecting contemporary global, British and individual concerns. English and Ismaili are used together in poems, throwing light on each other. And some poems are strikingly modern. The festivities and customs of many countries and groups are celebrated and discussed with a view to greater understanding and sympathy. Perhaps, most impressively, whilst these poems appeal to our intellect and suggest our need to think about the issues of today, they have the power to move one suddenly, and unexpectedly, to tears. About the Author Moeze Lalji was born in Uganda in 1958 and came to England as a refugee in 1972. He was a paperboy in his school days, then went to West Hill Secondary School in Stalybridge, then to Tameside College, then to Leeds Polytechnic, then worked for a small firm of chartered accountants, then worked for a bank, then with his wife owned a sub-post office, then worked for a property company. Later he had a break down and suffers from schizophrenia. He belongs to the Ismaili community and has his faith in the Aga Khan, which keeps him alive with the obvious support from the mental health team. His young brother died from schizophrenia. He is very grateful to Jason Pegler for giving him support and the encouragement to be part of society and feel wanted through the poems, which he finds therapeutic. He never believed he would get this far in his life, but Jason has made it possible for him. Moeze wants to help mental health sufferers so he is donating his poems to the Chipmunka Foundation who help mental health sufferers. Moeze also donates poems to various charities. Moeze really says thank you to Jason and his team. May God bless you all in your good work for society by providing an enabling environment .
