The roadmap states such fuels represent new technological concepts for the introduction of non-biomass and non-fossil based alternative fuels in transport. This includes: - CO2-based and CO2-neutral liquid and gaseous fuels such as methanol, ethanol, green gas or other fuel molecules using renewable energy, and - Artificial photosynthesis and fuel from photosynthetic microorganisms (in water and land environments) and from artificial photosynthesis mimics (SET-Plan Integrated Roadmap, 2014).
