The goals were to estimate numbers in both the putative Davis Strait-Baffin Bay (DS-BB) and Hudson Bay-Foxe Basin (HB-FB) stocks as well as to better understand the summering distribution of the bowhead whales. Data collection and data analysis methods are explained and results are cited by date and place. Tables and maps include details of bowhead whales distribution in Canada, near-surface estimates of bowhead whale numbers, numbers of whales seen by observers at various distances from aircraft in each of three surveys, and summary of survey conditions in 2002 and 2003.
