Book Dynamic Traffic Modelling of the I 25 HOV Corridor

Download or read book Dynamic Traffic Modelling of the I 25 HOV Corridor written by Bruce N. Janson and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traffic modelling is one means of being able to predict time-varying traffic conditions in an urban roadway network to support traveler information systems and traffic management advisories. The development and testing of DYMOD (a dynamic traffic assignment model) was implemented in the Denver metro area to predict observed volumes and speeds during a typical weekday peak period (5am - 10am). On average, predicted flows agreed to within 12% of actual 5-minute volumes on I-25 through lanes at the detector locations. DYMOD was also able to model incident conditions to generate route diversion planning strategies during lane blocking accidents and to estimate vehicle hours of delay.

Book Behavioural and Network Impacts of Driver Information Systems

Download or read book Behavioural and Network Impacts of Driver Information Systems written by Richard Emmerink and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-28 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1999, this volume contains a systematic collection of both theoretical and applied studies on user information systems for road users. It is generally expected that reliable information offered to road users will improve the use of scarce capacity on transport networks but from a research perspective the question arises whether the provision of such hard and software will influence the behaviour of road users to such an extent that a more desirable traffic situation will emerge. The book contains European, American and Asian contributions and presents advances and findings in the field of theoretical, simulation and empricial models on driver information systems and behaviour, whilst also paying attention to the design of such systems.

Book An Evaluation of Traffic Simulation Models for Supporting ITS Development

Download or read book An Evaluation of Traffic Simulation Models for Supporting ITS Development written by Sharon Adams Boxill and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tools to evaluate networks under information supply are a vital necessity in light of the systems being implemented as part of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) deployment plan. One such tool is the traffic simulation model. This report presents an evaluation of the existing traffic simulation models to identify the models that can be potentially applied in ITS equipped networks. The traffic simulation models are categorized according to type (macroscopic, microscopic or mesoscopic), as well as functionality (highway, signal, integrated). The entire evaluation is conducted through two steps: initial screening and in-depth evaluation. The initial step generates a shorter but more specific list of traffic simulation models based on some pre-determined criteria. The in-depth evaluation identifies which model on the shorter list is suitable for a specific area of ITS applications. It is concluded from this research that presently CORSIM and INTEGRATION appear to have the highest probability of success in real-world applications. It is also found that by adding more calibration and validation in the U.S., the AIMSUN 2 and PARAMICS models will be brought to the forefront in the near term for use with ITS applications.
