For the Greco-Roman, the challenge was trying to appropriate the gospel in an understandable and authentic way for the locals as far as Christianity was concerned. In Îembe, the church has to try to integrate some cultural values within Christianity so that the Îembe would view it as an Îembe religion and as part of the universal religion instead of a foreign one. This book mainly focuses on the Îembe community, a sub-group of the Meru tribe in Kenya. It centres on understanding how Îembe spirituality has been a challenge to Christianity, especially as far as healing, health and wholeness, calamities, and witchcraft are concerned. It is also in this perspective that the office of traditional healers is studied. To reach an understanding, integration and interpretation, the author presents views and perspectives from the local context. Andrew presents a missiological Christological view with Jesus as Muwe par excellence. This is an aspect whereby Jesus takes the central position as a healer in the Îembe community. If restoration and healing are God’s activities, with an eschatological impact, then God is the healer, and the church is an element of the Missio Dei. Healing is, therefore, a missio ecclesiae activity. The church in Christ has taken the central stage as Muwe par excellence, a principle that churches in Îembe should dwell on, teach and practice.

When Christian faith is understood in terms of the scientific properties and behaviors of light, not only do perceived conflicts between science and spirituality disappear, but there exists a synergy between them that supports and enriches both. The key to understanding our place and purpose in the universe is the property of light known in physics as the "complementarity principle," in which light exists as waves until it is observed by humans, upon which it instantly manifests as physical reality. This dual nature of light defines dual realities - the spiritual and physical realities. Visionaries and prophets throughout history and from widely diverse backgrounds, as well as many individuals who have had so-called near death experiences, have consistently reported experiencing God as Light - Light that is qualitatively and quantitatively different from the light we ordinarily see. Furthermore, the "tunnel" often seen in the near death experience is the same phenomenon as the so-called "spiritual eye" or "gate of heaven" of the visionary experience. It's a phenomenon that was predicted by Einstein's theories 100 years ago. In addition, re-examining the biblical creation story in terms of the Light of Christ and the complementarity principle, it becomes clear that the "fall" of man from the presence of God was a quantum event in which his conscious awareness switched from God to the physical world. It also becomes clear that the first chapter of Genesis is about the creation of the universe, not about our planet. The apparent anachronisms in the Genesis story then disappear, details of the physical creation as distinct from the spiritual come into sharper focus, and the creation story is seen to be in complete harmony with modern science.

What is death and what is immortality? Based on the 2011 Einstein Lectures, Religion without God is inspired by remarks Einstein made that if religion consists of awe toward mysteries which “manifest themselves in the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, and which our dull faculties can comprehend only in the most primitive forms,” then, he, Einstein, was a religious person. Dworkin joins Einstein’s sense of cosmic mystery and beauty to the claim that value is objective, independent of mind, and immanent in the world. He rejects the metaphysics of naturalism—that nothing is real except what can be studied by the natural sciences. Belief in God is one manifestation of this deeper worldview, but not the only one. The conviction that God underwrites value presupposes a prior commitment to the independent reality of that value—a commitment that is available to nonbelievers as well. So theists share a commitment with some atheists that is more fundamental than what divides them. Freedom of religion should flow not from a respect for belief in God but from the right to ethical independence. Dworkin hoped that this short book would contribute to rational conversation and the softening of religious fear and hatred. Religion without God is the work of a humanist who recognized both the possibilities and limitations of humanity.
