Book Description Approaches and Automated Generalization Algorithms for Groups of Map Objects

Download or read book Description Approaches and Automated Generalization Algorithms for Groups of Map Objects written by Haowen Yan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-04 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the generalization of map features, providing descriptions and classifying groups of map objects into six categories: point clusters, groups of contours, road networks, river networks, continuous areal features and discrete areal features. Discussing the methods and algorithms in map generalization in equal measure, it also describes the approaches for describing map features. The book is a valuable reference for graduates and researchers who are interested in cartography and geographic information science/systems, especially those in automated map generalization and spatial databases construction.

Book New Approach to Automated Cartography and Graphics

Download or read book New Approach to Automated Cartography and Graphics written by Richard H. Schweitzer (Jr) and published by . This book was released on with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of Micrographics in cartography involves the use of either a Computer Output on Microfilm (COM) unit or an Electron Beam Recorder to produce unscreened window negatives on microfilm from a computer file of digitized boundary file and a data file. The resulting film images are enlarged, registered, screened and composited as required for publication. The resulting maps approach the quality of manually prepared thematic maps but at a cost of 1/10 to 1/20 of manual techniques. The time required to produce the maps is also significantly reduced as compared to the traditional methods. The same technology can also be used to produce other forms of graphics such as charts.

Book Abstracting Geographic Information in a Data Rich World

Download or read book Abstracting Geographic Information in a Data Rich World written by Dirk Burghardt and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-08 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research in the field of automated generalisation has faced new challenges in recent years as a result of technological developments in web-based processing, new visualisation paradigms and access to very large volumes of multi-source data generated by sensors and humans. In these contexts, map generalisation needs to underpin ‘on-demand mapping’, a form of mapping that responds to individual user requirements in the thematic selection and visualisation of geographic information. It is this new impetus that drives the research of the ICA Commission on Generalisation and Multiple Representation (for example through its annual workshops, biannual tutorials and publications in international journals). This book has a coherent structure, each chapter focusing on core concepts and tasks in the map generalisation towards on-demand mapping. Each chapter presents a state-of-the-art review, together with case studies that illustrate the application of pertinent generalisation methodologies. The book addresses issues from data gathering to multi scaled outputs. Thus there are chapters devoted to defining user requirements in handling specifications, and in the application and evaluation of map generalisation algorithms. It explores the application of generalisation methodologies in the context of growing volumes of data and the increasing popularity of user generated content.

Book Rational Approaches to Structure Activity and Ecotoxicology of Agrochemicals

Download or read book Rational Approaches to Structure Activity and Ecotoxicology of Agrochemicals written by Wilfried Draber and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-07-14 with total page 604 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents discussions of the most important aspects in the development of agrochemicals. The book covers such broad areas as structure activity and ecotoxicological analyses in comprehensive reviews for general methods and chronicles for individual examples. Topics in structure-activity relationships include how to combine submolecular structures of pharmacological interests and modify them according to chemorational models with computer-aided procedures such as the traditional Hansch-type QSAR, the sequential, simplex optimization, and molecular modeling. Topics in the ecotoxicology of organo phosphorus compounds are discussed in terms of the quantitative structure-toxicity relationship (QSTR). Chronicles of molecular orbital methodology in predicting environmental fates of agrochemicals are also provided. This volume will be invaluable for researchers in the agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Book GIS and GeoComputation

Download or read book GIS and GeoComputation written by Peter Atkinson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-06-21 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geographic Information Systems are computer-based systems for geographic analysis. They have been developed over the past twenty five years and are now widely used. A recent research direction has been the development of geocomputation , representing computer-based geographical analysis beyond the traditional bounds of GIS. In geocomputation, the computer is the research environment itself, not merely a tool. A key to geocomputation it that highly powered computing can be used with sufficient data to avaid traditional parametric approaches altogether. The term geocomputation includes the use of computer-based techniques such as artificial neural networks, genetic programming and fuzzy logic, but in a geographical context. This new book in the prestigious Innovations in GIS series, presents the latest research in geocomputational techniques as presented in the GIS UK Annual Conference.

Book A Comprehensive Book on Autism Spectrum Disorders

Download or read book A Comprehensive Book on Autism Spectrum Disorders written by Mohammad-Reza Mohammadi and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-09-15 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of the book is to serve for clinical, practical, basic and scholarly practices. In twentyfive chapters it covers the most important topics related to Autism Spectrum Disorders in the efficient way and aims to be useful for health professionals in training or clinicians seeking an update. Different people with autism can have very different symptoms. Autism is considered to be a "spectrum" disorder, a group of disorders with similar features. Some people may experience merely mild disturbances, while the others have very serious symptoms. This book is aimed to be used as a textbook for child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training and will serve as a reference for practicing psychologists, child and adolescent psychiatrists, general psychiatrists, pediatricians, child neurologists, nurses, social workers and family physicians. A free access to the full-text electronic version of the book via Intech reading platform at http://www.intechweb.org is a great bonus.
