Book A QUADTREE BASED ADAPTIVELY REFINED CARTESIAN GRID ALGORITHM FOR SOLUTION OF THE EULER EQUATIONS

Download or read book A QUADTREE BASED ADAPTIVELY REFINED CARTESIAN GRID ALGORITHM FOR SOLUTION OF THE EULER EQUATIONS written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Cartesian method for solution of the steady two-dimensional Euler equations is produced. Dynamic data structures are used and both geometric and solution-based adaptations are applied. Solution adaptation is achieved through solution-based gradient information. The finite volume method is used with cell-centered approach. The solution is converged to a steady state by means of an approximate Riemann solver. Local time step is used for convergence acceleration. A multistage time stepping scheme is used to advance the solution in time. A number of internal and external flow problems are solved in order to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the method.

Book An Adaptively Refined Cartesian Cell based Scheme for the Euler and Navier Stokes Equations

Download or read book An Adaptively Refined Cartesian Cell based Scheme for the Euler and Navier Stokes Equations written by William John Coirier and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using a Cartesian, cell-based grid generation procedure, this study presents a numerical algorithm for solving the Euler and the compressible Navier-Stokes equations. After several viscous numerical functions are tested for compatibility with the Cartesian cell approach, two are used to compute adaptively-refined schemes of the Navier-Stokes equations for well-known flows. The results of the formulations are compared.

Book Magnetohydrodynamic Modeling of the Solar Corona and Heliosphere

Download or read book Magnetohydrodynamic Modeling of the Solar Corona and Heliosphere written by Xueshang Feng and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-08-01 with total page 772 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book covers intimately all the topics necessary for the development of a robust magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) code within the framework of the cell-centered finite volume method (FVM) and its applications in space weather study. First, it presents a brief review of existing MHD models in studying solar corona and the heliosphere. Then it introduces the cell-centered FVM in three-dimensional computational domain. Finally, the book presents some applications of FVM to the MHD codes on spherical coordinates in various research fields of space weather, focusing on the development of the 3D Solar-InterPlanetary space-time Conservation Element and Solution Element (SIP-CESE) MHD model and its applications to space weather studies in various aspects. The book is written for senior undergraduates, graduate students, lecturers, engineers and researchers in solar-terrestrial physics, space weather theory, modeling, and prediction, computational fluid dynamics, and MHD simulations. It helps readers to fully understand and implement a robust and versatile MHD code based on the cell-centered FVM.

Book Numerical Flow Simulation II

Download or read book Numerical Flow Simulation II written by Ernst H. Hirschel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this series is to publish promptly and in a de- tailed form new material from the field of Numerical Fluid Mechanics including the use of advanced computer systems. Published are reports on specialized conferences, workshops, research programs, and monographs. Contents: This volume contains nineteen reports on work, which is conducted since 1998 in the Collaborative Research Programme "Numerical Flow Simulation" of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). French and German engineers and mathematicians present their joint research on the topics "Development of Solution Techniques", "Crystal Growth and Melts", "Flows of Reacting Gases", and "Turbulent Flows". In the background of their work is the still strong growth of the performance of super-computer architectures, which, together with large advances in algorithms, is opening vast new application areas of numerical flow simulation in research and industrial work. Results of this programme from the period 1996 to 1998 have been presented in NNFM 66 (1998)

Book Computational Fluid Dynamics Review 1998 In 2 Volumes

Download or read book Computational Fluid Dynamics Review 1998 In 2 Volumes written by Mohamed M Hafez and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1998-11-20 with total page 1169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first volume of CFD Review was published in 1995. The purpose of this new publication is to present comprehensive surveys and review articles which provide up-to-date information about recent progress in computational fluid dynamics, on a regular basis. Because of the multidisciplinary nature of CFD, it is difficult to cope with all the important developments in related areas. There are at least ten regular international conferences dealing with different aspects of CFD.It is a real challenge to keep up with all these activities and to be aware of essential and fundamental contributions in these areas. It is hoped that CFD Review will help in this regard by covering the state-of-the-art in this field. The present book contains sixty-two articles written by authors from the US, Europe, Japan and China, covering the main aspects of CFD. There are five sections: general topics, numerical methods, flow physics, interdisciplinary applications, parallel computation and flow visualization. The section on numerical methods includes grids, schemes and solvers, while that on flow physics includes incompressible and compressible flows, hypersonics and gas kinetics as well as transition and turbulence. This book should be useful to all researchers in this fast-developing field.

Book Mathematical and Computational Approaches in Advancing Modern Science and Engineering

Download or read book Mathematical and Computational Approaches in Advancing Modern Science and Engineering written by Jacques Bélair and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-10 with total page 777 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focusing on five main groups of interdisciplinary problems, this book covers a wide range of topics in mathematical modeling, computational science and applied mathematics. It presents a wealth of new results in the development of modeling theories and methods, advancing diverse areas of applications and promoting interdisciplinary interactions between mathematicians, scientists, engineers and representatives from other disciplines. The book offers a valuable source of methods, ideas, and tools developed for a variety of disciplines, including the natural and social sciences, medicine, engineering, and technology. Original results are presented on both the fundamental and applied level, accompanied by an ample number of real-world problems and examples emphasizing the interdisciplinary nature and universality of mathematical modeling, and providing an excellent outline of today’s challenges. Mathematical modeling, with applied and computational methods and tools, plays a fundamental role in modern science and engineering. It provides a primary and ubiquitous tool in the context making new discoveries, as well as in the development of new theories and techniques for solving key problems arising in scientific and engineering applications. The contributions, which are the product of two highly successful meetings held jointly in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada on the main campus of Wilfrid Laurier University in June 2015, i.e. the International Conference on Applied Mathematics, Modeling and Computational Science, and the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics (CAIMS), make the book a valuable resource for any reader interested in a broader overview of the methods, ideas and tools involved in mathematical and computational approaches developed for other disciplines, including the natural and social sciences, engineering and technology.
