Download or read book Contributions to Provide a QoS aware Self configured Framework for Video streaming Services Over Ad Hoc Networks written by Ahmad Mohamad Mezher and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ad hoc networks have attracted much attention from the research community over the last years and important technical advances have risen as a consequence. These networks are foreseen as an important kind of next generation access networks, where multimedia services will be demanded by end users from their wireless devices everywhere. In this thesis, we specially focus our research work on mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) and on vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), two kind of ad hoc networks over which interesting multimedia services can be provided. The special haracteristics of MANETs/VANETs, such as mobility, dynamic network topology (specially in VANETs), energy constraints (in case of MANETs), infrastructureless and variable link capacity, make the QoS (Quality of Service) provision over these networks an important challenge for the research community. Due to that, there is a need to develop new routing protocols specially designed for MANETs and VANETs able to provide multimedia services. The main objective of this thesis is to contribute in the development of the communication framework for MANETs and VANETs to improve decisions to select paths or next hops in the moment of forwarding video-reporting messages. In this way, it would be possible to have a quick answer to manage daily problems in the city and help the emergency units (e.g., police, ambulances, health care units) in case of incidents (e.g., traffic accidents). Furthermore, in case of VANETs, a real scenario must be created and thus we have analysed the presence of obstacles in real maps. Also, in case of an obstacle found between the current forwarding node and the candidate next forwarding node, the packet is stored in a buffer, for a maximum time, until a forwarding neighbour node is found; otherwise, the packet is dropped. To improve the communication framework for MANETs, we propose a new routing protocol based on a game-theoretical scheme for N users specially designed to transmit video-reporting messages. Our proposal makes the network more efficient and provides a higher degree of satisfaction of the users by receiving much more packets with a lower average end-to-end delay, lower jitter and higher PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio). In addition, we propose a geographical routing protocol for VANETs that considers multiple metrics named 3MRP (Multimedia Multimetric Map-Aware Routing Protocol) [1]. 3MRP is a geographical protocol based on hop-by-hop forwarding. The metrics considered in 3MRP are the distance, the density of vehicles in transmission range, the available bandwidth, the future trajectory of the neighbouring nodes and the MAC layer losses. Those metrics are weighted to obtain a multimetric score. Thus, a node selects another node among its neighbours as the best forwarding node to increase the percentage of successful packet delivery, minimizing the average packet delay and offering a certain level of quality and service. Furthermore, a new algorithm named DSW (Dynamic Self-configured Weights) computes for each metric its corresponding weight depending on the current network conditions. As a consequence, nodes are classiffied in a better way.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, a lot of work has been done in an effort to incorporate Swarm Intelligence (SI) techniques in building an adaptive routing protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs). Since centralized approach for routing in MANETs generally lacks in scalability and fault-tolerance, SI techniques provide a natural solution through a distributed approach for the adaptive routing for MANETs. In SI techniques, the captivating features of insects or mammals are correlated with the real world problems to find solutions. Recently, several applications of bio-inspired and nature-inspired algorithms in telecommunications and computer networks have achieved remarkable success. The main aims/objectives of this book, "Mobile Ad Hoc Networks: Bio-Inspired Quality of Service Aware Routing Protocols", are twofold; firstly it clearly distinguishes between principles of traditional routing protocols and SI based routing protocols, while explaining in detail the analogy between MANETs and SI principles. Secondly, it presents the readers with important Quality of Service (QoS) parameters and explains how SI based routing protocols achieves QoS demands of the applications. This book also gives quantitative and qualitative analysis of some of the SI based routing protocols for MANETs.

Book An Efficient QoS based Route Optimization Model in MANET

Download or read book An Efficient QoS based Route Optimization Model in MANET written by Dr. C. Siva Krishnaiah, Dr. N. Geethanjali and published by Shashwat Publication. This book was released on 2024-08-07 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “An Efficient QoS based Route Optimization Model in MANET” mainly focus on providing an effective Route Optimization model with Quality of Service for Mobile Adhoc Network. The proposed model is to find a path from source to destination satisfying user’s requirement by enhancing Quality of Service using appropriate agent deployment and procedures that guarantees optimized Quality of Service. It is to achieve an effective routing mechanism for dynamic networks. The proposed approach is to make optimal utilization of available network resources such as Bandwidth for Quality of Service provisioning by means of efficient Admission Control process. It also proposes the model to increase the packet delivery ratio and reduce the delay. Most widely used routing protocol is Adhoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV), which is a reactive protocol, is an improvement of Destination Sequenced Distance Vector(DSDV). Modified Adhoc On-Demand Distance Vector (M_AODV) is an extension to AODV, which targets efficient Bandwidth requirement.

Book QoS Routing in Wireless Mesh Networks

Download or read book QoS Routing in Wireless Mesh Networks written by Tamer Ahmed Mostafa Mohammed Abdelkader and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wireless Mesh Networking is envisioned as an economically viable paradigm and a promising technology in providing wireless broadband services. The wireless mesh backbone consists of fixed mesh routers that interconnect different mesh clients to themselves and to the wireline backbone network. In order to approach the wireline servicing level and provide same or near QoS guarantees to different traffic flows, the wireless mesh backbone should be quality-of-service (QoS) aware. A key factor in designing protocols for a wireless mesh network (WMN) is to exploit its distinct characteristics, mainly immobility of mesh routers and less-constrained power consumption.

Book Flow Aware Admission Control Protocol for QoS Provisioning in MANETs

Download or read book Flow Aware Admission Control Protocol for QoS Provisioning in MANETs written by Muhammad Asif and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs), mobile nodes communicate over an error prone wireless channel without any centralized control. MANETs have n9 fixed topology because mobile nodes can freely join or leave the network at any time. As a consequence, it is difficult to guarantee Quality of Service (QoS) in these networks. The current routing , protocols provide only best effort services to the applications. Multimedia communications become very popular and require various types of QoS guarantee from the network such as guranteed throughput, bounded end-to-end delay. The QoS-aware routing (QA) and Admission Control (AC) protocols try to address the issue of QoS to some extent. In this work, a novel Flow Aware Admission Control (FAAC) protocol is designed to assure the guaranteed throughput to data sessions. It utilizes the route cache of routing protocol and devises a new admission technique to accept or reject data session to the network. It is partially coupled with the Oynamic Source Routing (OSR) protocol as it has used the basic functionality of route search of the OSR protocol. The protocol has two phases: (i) route discovery and (ii) test the route nodes resources for a data session entry. The performance evaluations show that the protocol outperforms the existing best effort routing and QAR and AC protocols such as OSR and Contention Aware Admission Control (CACP) protocols in providing QoS in MANETs. Mobility is a big challenge to assure guaranteed throughput to data sessions. To address this issue, we have designed F AAC-Multipath protocol that uses multiple routes for data transmission. The protocol maintains two tested routes for each data session and devises new fast switching mechanisms that switch the data flow from one route to another to guarantee the throughput. Multimedia applications require guaranteed throughput as well as bounded end-to-end delay. To address this issue we.have designed Flow Aware Admission Control-Multipath with Multiple constraints (F AAC-MM). This protocol assures the application with guaranteed throughput as well as bounded end-to-end delay. FAAC-MM switches the data flow from primary to secondary route on the basis of achieved throughput and end-to-end delay. We have also analyzed and compared the proposed protocols with the state of the art protocols such as CACP and Multi-path for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. The simulation results show that our protocol outperforms the above mentioned protocols.

Book QoS Aware on Demand Multipath Routing Schemes in MANET

Download or read book QoS Aware on Demand Multipath Routing Schemes in MANET written by Kalyani Girvanesh and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mobile Ad-hoc network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes, which form a wireless network without the use of an existing infrastructure. MANET's are usually characterized by random mobility of nodes, nodes arbitrarily entering and leaving the network and variable transmission range of nodes. These characteristics make MANET links to be intermittent and the topology to be highly dynamic. The objective of a routing protocol is to efficiently find routes and transfer as many data-packets possible with minimum routing overhead. In such situations routing protocols are desired to be on-demand and robust enough to cope up with the dynamic topology changes. Many on demand routing protocols have been suggested for this purpose like single path Dynamic source routing (DSR) and Ad-hoc on demand distance vector routing (AODV) and their multiple path variants like Ad-hoc on demand multiple distance vector routing (AOMDV). These protocols suggest different ways to avoid route-looping problems and create shortest path route. Locally adaptive Ad-hoc on demand distance vector routing (PROPOSED-AOMDV) tries to discover more robust routes and proposes new schemes to provide route maintenance. In our thesis work we propose to compare the different techniques of path maintenance, mainly link layer detection and hello based connectivity. The goal is to analyze the behavior of different single path and multipath schemes for these mechanisms. With the increasing need to be able to send video traffic over mobile ad-hoc networks, it becomes critical to be able to send packets within a time constraint. Hence we have chosen to bring in a factor called 'time to live' or TTL. The scheme culminates with the introduction of a queue between the network and the MAC layer, i.e., the Interface Queue Layer in order to sort packets based on their priority. This scheme ensures that higher importance packets are always sent ahead of lower priority packets.
