Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Prophet's Journal will take you on a journey to learn how to hear from God and know it is God speaking. Hearing from God will prepare your heart for what is coming. Seldom are we invited into someone's personal journal-their thoughts, feelings, weaknesses and challenges. What about their prayer life, burdens, hurts, and even miracles? Have you ever heard someone describe their visions? Or tell you the specific words they have heard God speak to them? A Prophet's Journal is a unique book unlike any you have probably encountered before. It will leave you with questions, perhaps a longing to know God better. This book is like a buffet table for your spirit, the opportunity for an experience, as you grow in your knowledge of the nature of God and His ways. If you have ever wondered what God is really like, or who Jesus is, read this book. If you have been a follower of Jesus but struggle with knowing Him more intimately, A Prophet's Journal will help you. Perhaps you have been searching for a spiritual reality and haven't found what you've been looking for? This is your opportunity. "As the horrible device fell off, I saw the person open his eyes. You could see confusion and fear on his face. It was like he didn't know where he was or how he got there. I watched as he looked around; a flush of colour started to come back to his face. I could see him trying to squint and see through the gloom of this terrible place. Once his eyes adjusted to the lack of light, he suddenly stood up straight and tall, like a man with purpose." -Excerpt from A Prophet's Journal 2016-2020 ABOUT THE AUTHOR Catherine Hudson has been walking with the Lord since she was twenty-six and is the mother of three grown children and grandmother of thirteen. She is a dog trainer and owns My Bark Avenue Academy. She lives in eastern Ontario, Canada with her two dogs. In 2019 she became the children's director of the Community Children and Youth Outreach.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The oldest Islamic biography of Muhammad, written in the mid-eighth century, relates that the prophet died at Medina in 632, while earlier and more numerous Jewish, Christian, Samaritan, and even Islamic sources indicate that Muhammad survived to lead the conquest of Palestine, beginning in 634-35. Although this discrepancy has been known for several decades, Stephen J. Shoemaker here writes the first systematic study of the various traditions. Using methods and perspectives borrowed from biblical studies, Shoemaker concludes that these reports of Muhammad's leadership during the Palestinian invasion likely preserve an early Islamic tradition that was later revised to meet the needs of a changing Islamic self-identity. Muhammad and his followers appear to have expected the world to end in the immediate future, perhaps even in their own lifetimes, Shoemaker contends. When the eschatological Hour failed to arrive on schedule and continued to be deferred to an ever more distant point, the meaning of Muhammad's message and the faith that he established needed to be fundamentally rethought by his early followers. The larger purpose of The Death of a Prophet exceeds the mere possibility of adjusting the date of Muhammad's death by a few years; far more important to Shoemaker are questions about the manner in which Islamic origins should be studied. The difference in the early sources affords an important opening through which to explore the nature of primitive Islam more broadly. Arguing for greater methodological unity between the study of Christian and Islamic origins, Shoemaker emphasizes the potential value of non-Islamic sources for reconstructing the history of formative Islam.

He wept In two separate visitations in 2002, He spoke iin anguish of the last days assignments against the elect, He warned of the great blinding, of seduction, lust and Jezebel, and the great falling away... 'My children perish...' Jesus' voice was so soft...that it was barely audible... And then He turned to me, His beautiful countenance ravaged with grief. 'Now warn My children...warn My beloved...that even those in the deepest mire might find their way home...' This is the extraordinary record of His discourse.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1910 Isaiah Shembe was struggling. He had left his family and quit his job as a sanitation worker to become a Baptist evangelist, but he ended his first mission without much to show. Little did he know that he would soon establish the Nazaretha Church as he began to attract attention from people left behind by industrial capitalism in South Africa. By his death in 1935, Shembe was an internationally known prophet and healer, described by his peers as “better off than all the Black people.” In A Prophet of the People: Isaiah Shembe and the Making of a South African Church, historian Lauren V. Jarvis provides a fascinating and intimate portrait of one of South Africa’s most famous religious figures, and in turn the making of modern South Africa. Following Shembe from his birth in the 1860s across many environments and contexts, Jarvis illuminates the tight links between the spread of Christianity, strategies of evasion, and the capacious forms of community that continue to shape South Africa today.

Isaiah was Samuel's and Samuel was Isaiah's. That was the way it was since the beginning, and the way it was to be until the end. In the barn they tended to the animals, but also to each other, transforming the hollowed-out shed into a place of human refuge, a source of intimacy and hope in a world ruled by vicious masters. But when an older man—a fellow slave—seeks to gain favor by preaching the master's gospel on the plantation, the enslaved begin to turn on their own. Isaiah and Samuel's love, which was once so simple, is seen as sinful and a clear danger to the plantation's harmony. With a lyricism reminiscent of Toni Morrison, Robert Jones, Jr., fiercely summons the voices of slaver and enslaved alike, from Isaiah and Samuel to the calculating slave master to the long line of women that surround them, women who have carried the soul of the plantation on their shoulders. As tensions build and the weight of centuries—of ancestors and future generations to come—culminates in a climactic reckoning, The Prophets fearlessly reveals the pain and suffering of inheritance, but is also shot through with hope, beauty, and truth, portraying the enormous, heroic power of love.
