Book A Programmed Review for Electrical Engineering

Download or read book A Programmed Review for Electrical Engineering written by James H. Bentley and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of electrical engineering is very innovative-new products and new ideas are continu ally being developed. Yet all these innovations are based on the fundamental principles of electrical engineering: Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's laws, feedback control, waveforms, capacitance, resistance, inductance, electricity, magnetism, current, voltage, power, energy. It is these basic fundamentals which are tested for in the Professional Engineering Examination (PE Exam). This text provides an organized review of the basic electrical engineering fundamentals. It is an outgrowth of an electrical engineering refresher course taught by the author to candidates preparing for the Professional Engineering Examination-a course which has enabled scores of electrical engineers in Minnesota and Wisconsin to successfully pass the PE Exam. The material is representative of the type of questions appearing in the PE Exams prepared by the National Council of Engineering Examiners (NCEE) over the past twelve years. Each problem in the text has been carefully selected to illustrate a specific concept. Included with each problem is at least one solution. Although the solutions have been carefully checked, both by the author and by students, there may be differences of interpretation. Also, in some cases certain assumptions may need to be made prior to problem solution, and since these to individual, the final answer may also differ. The assumptions will vary from individual author has attempted to keep the requirements for assumptions and interpretation to a mini mum.

Book Programming for Electrical Engineers

Download or read book Programming for Electrical Engineers written by James Squire and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2020-07-08 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Programming for Electrical Engineers: MATLAB and Spice introduces beginning engineering students to programming in Matlab and Spice through engaged, problem-based learning and dedicated electrical and computer engineering content. The book draws its problems and examples specifically from electrical and computer engineering, covering such topics as circuit analysis, signal processing, and filter design. It teaches relevant computational techniques in the context of solving common problems in electrical and computer engineering, including mesh and nodal analysis, Fourier transforms, and phasor analysis. Programming for Electrical Engineers: MATLAB and Spice is unique among MATLAB textbooks for its dual focus on introductory-level learning and discipline-specific content in electrical and computer engineering. No other textbook on the market currently targets this audience with the same attention to discipline-specific content and engaged learning practices. Although it is primarily an introduction to programming in MATLAB, the book also has a chapter on circuit simulation using Spice, and it includes materials required by ABET Accreditation reviews, such as information on ethics, professional development, and lifelong learning. Discipline-specific: Introduces Electrical and Computer Engineering-specific topics, such as phasor analysis and complex exponentials, that are not covered in generic engineering Matlab texts Accessible: Pedagogically appropriate for freshmen and sophomores with little or no prior programming experience Scaffolded content: Addresses both script and functions but emphasizes the use of functions since scripts with non-scoped variables are less-commonly encountered after introductory courses Problem-centric: Introduces MATLAB commands as needed to solve progressively more complex EE/ECE-specific problems, and includes over 100 embedded, in-chapter questions to check comprehension in stages and support active learning exercises in the classroom Enrichment callouts: "Pro Tip" callouts cover common ABET topics, such as ethics and professional development, and "Digging Deeper" callouts provide optional, more detailed material for interested students

It is written in a down-to-earth style and explains jargon, technical terms and schematics as they arise. The author builds a genuine understanding of the fundamentals and shows how they can be applied to a range of engineering problems. This third edition includes more real-world examples and a glossary of formulae. It contains new coverage of: Microcontrollers FPGAs Classes of components Memory (RAM, ROM, etc.) Surface mount High speed design Board layout Advanced digital electronics (e.g. processors) Transistor circuits and circuit design Op-amp and logic circuits Use of test equipment Gives readers a simple explanation of complex concepts, in terms they can understand and relate to everyday life. Book MATLAB for Electrical Engineers and Technologists

Download or read book MATLAB for Electrical Engineers and Technologists written by Stephen Philip Tubbs and published by . This book was released on 2010-05 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MATLAB is a popular program. A MATLAB website states ¿Over 1,000,000 engineers and scientists¿.use MATLAB and Simulink.¿ Monster.com has hundreds of advertisements for jobs requiring MATLAB. The first purpose of this book is to quickly teach an electrical engineer or technologist how to use MATLAB. The reader learns by example. Complete keystroke-to-keystroke details are provided for problem solution and documentation. Most of this book¿s examples demonstrate MATLAB¿s abilities as a stand-alone programming language for performing numeric electrical computations. Also, two MathWorks add-on programs are demonstrated, the Optimization Toolbox, and Simulink. The second purpose of this book is to demonstrate MATLAB solutions of practical electrical problems. The simplest and most basic uses of MATLAB are in the first examples. Later examples demonstrate more complex capabilities. The reader could use the examples¿ solutions as starting models for his own programs. It is assumed that the reader has an analytical electrical background of the sort that would be gained in a university electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology program. MATLAB is available in a free 30 day Demonstration version. Its key features can be learned in 30 days.

In Learn to Program with Scratch, author Majed Marji uses Scratch to explain the concepts essential to solving real-world programming problems. The labeled, color-coded blocks plainly show each logical step in a given script, and with a single click, you can even test any part of your script to check your logic. You'll learn how to: –Harness the power of repeat loops and recursion –Use if/else statements and logical operators to make decisions –Store data in variables and lists to use later in your program –Read, store, and manipulate user input –Implement key computer science algorithms like a linear search and bubble sort Hands-on projects will challenge you to create an Ohm's law simulator, draw intricate patterns, program sprites to mimic line-following robots, create arcade-style games, and more! Each chapter is packed with detailed explanations, annotated illustrations, guided examples, lots of color, and plenty of exercises to help the lessons stick. Learn to Program with Scratch is the perfect place to start your computer science journey, painlessly. Uses Scratch 2
