Book A Program Manager s Handbook for System Safety and Military Standard 882B

Download or read book A Program Manager s Handbook for System Safety and Military Standard 882B written by and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Program Manager's role in the acquisition of new weapon systems encompasses many disciplines, some of which he may have little, if any, training or experience in handling. One of these areas, which until recent years has received little attention, is System Safety Engineering. This thesis is an attempt, in handbook form, to introduce the Program Manager to the System Safety Process and provide basic guidance in the application of MIL STD 882B, the governing Department of Defense directive on system safety program requirements. System Safety is defined in Military Standard 882B as the application of engineering and management principles, criteria, and techniques to optimize safety principles, criteria, and techniques to optimize safety within the constraints of operational effectiveness, time, and cost throughout all phases of the system life cycle. The primary function of System Safety is the early identification and classification of hazards so that action may be taken to correct the hazards prior to reaching final design decisions.

Book System Safety Engineering and Management

Download or read book System Safety Engineering and Management written by Harold E. Roland and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1991-01-16 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprehensive in scope, it describes the process of system safety--from the creation and management of a safety program on a system under development to the analysis that must be performed as this system is designed and produced to assure acceptable risk in its operation. Unique in its coverage, it is the only work on this subject that combines full descriptions of the management and analysis processes and procedures in one handy volume. Designed for both system safety managers and engineers, it incorporates the safety procedures used by the Department of Defense and NASA and explains basic statistical methods and network analysis methods which provide an understanding of the engineering analysis methods that follow.

Book A Government Program Manager s Testability and Diagnostics Guide

Download or read book A Government Program Manager s Testability and Diagnostics Guide written by George Neumann and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The military services have been experiencing problems in the adequacy of their weapon systems' diagnostic capabilities. There are available a variety of techniques, procedures, standards, and devices which can be applied to the acquisition of a system's diagnostic capability. However, this type of information appears in a variety of reports, military standards, specifications, and other documents. The objective of this guide is to transform such individual and diverse pieces of information into a logical, organized approach which a government program manager can follow to structure and control the various diagnostic activities and needs associated with the acquisition and deployment of an adequate diagnostic capability. This guide is one of the three guides aimed at the government program manager, the contractor program manager, and the system designer. This guide specifically deals with the government program manager as an aid to help him specify the required capability and take the steps to assure that the requirements are met. (GC).
