Book Modern Methods in Collisional Radiative Modeling of Plasmas

Download or read book Modern Methods in Collisional Radiative Modeling of Plasmas written by Yuri Ralchenko and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-02-25 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a compact yet comprehensive overview of recent developments in collisional-radiative (CR) modeling of laboratory and astrophysical plasmas. It describes advances across the entire field, from basic considerations of model completeness to validation and verification of CR models to calculation of plasma kinetic characteristics and spectra in diverse plasmas. Various approaches to CR modeling are presented, together with numerous examples of applications. A number of important topics, such as atomic models for CR modeling, atomic data and its availability and quality, radiation transport, non-Maxwellian effects on plasma emission, ionization potential lowering, and verification and validation of CR models, are thoroughly addressed. Strong emphasis is placed on the most recent developments in the field, such as XFEL spectroscopy. Written by leading international research scientists from a number of key laboratories, the book offers a timely summary of the most recent progress in this area. It will be a useful and practical guide for students and experienced researchers working in plasma spectroscopy, spectra simulations, and related fields.

  • Author : E.G.D. Cohen
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 3709183367
  • Pages : 647 pages

Download or read book The Boltzmann Equation written by E.G.D. Cohen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 647 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In,1872, Boltzmann published a paper which for the first time provided a precise mathematical basis for a discussion of the approach to equilibrium. The paper dealt with the approach to equilibrium of a dilute gas and was based on an equation - the Boltzmann equation, as we call it now - for the velocity distribution function of such ~ gas. The Boltzmann equation still forms the basis of the kinetic theory of gases and has proved fruitful not only for the classical gases Boltzmann had in mind, but als- if properly generalized - for the electron gas in a solid and the excitation gas in a superfluid. Therefore it was felt by many of us that the Boltzmann equation was of sufficient interest, even today, to warrant a meeting, in which a review of its present status would be undertaken. Since Boltzmann had spent a good part of his life in Vienna, this city seemed to be a natural setting for such a meeting. The first day was devoted to historical lectures, since it was generally felt that apart from their general interest, they would furnish a good introduction to the subsequent scientific sessions. We are very much indebted to Dr. D.

Book Computational Atomic Physics

Download or read book Computational Atomic Physics written by Klaus Bartschat and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Atomic Physics deals with computational methods for calculating electron (and positron) scattering from atoms and ions, including elastic scattering, excitation, and ionization processes. Each chapter is divided into abstract, theory, computer program with sample input and output, summary, suggested problems, and references. An MS-DOS diskette is included, which holds 11 programs covering the features of each chapter and therefore contributing to a deeper understanding of the field. Thus the book provides a unique practical application of advanced quantum mechanics.

Book Computational Methods for Fluid Flow

Download or read book Computational Methods for Fluid Flow written by Roger Peyret and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In developing this book, we decided to emphasize applications and to provide methods for solving problems. As a result, we limited the mathematical devel opments and we tried as far as possible to get insight into the behavior of numerical methods by considering simple mathematical models. The text contains three sections. The first is intended to give the fundamen tals of most types of numerical approaches employed to solve fluid-mechanics problems. The topics of finite differences, finite elements, and spectral meth ods are included, as well as a number of special techniques. The second section is devoted to the solution of incompressible flows by the various numerical approaches. We have included solutions of laminar and turbulent-flow prob lems using finite difference, finite element, and spectral methods. The third section of the book is concerned with compressible flows. We divided this last section into inviscid and viscous flows and attempted to outline the methods for each area and give examples.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aerodynamics is a science engaged in the investigation of the motion of air and other gases and their interaction with bodies, and is one of the most important bases of the aeronautic and astronautic techniques. The continuous improvement of the configurations of the airplanes and the space vehicles aid the constant enhancement of their performances are closely related with the development of the aerodynamics. In the design of new flying vehicles the aerodynamics will play more and more important role. The undertakings of aeronautics and astronautics in our country have gained achievements of world interest, the aerodynamics community has made outstanding contributions for the development of these undertakings and the science of aerodynamics. To promote further the development of the aerodynamics, meet the challenge in the new century, summary the experience, cultivate the professional personnel and to serve better the cause of aeronautics and astronautics and the national economy, the present Series of Modern Aerodynamics is organized and published.
