Download or read book Procurement With Purpose written by Peter Smith and published by eBook Partnership. This book was released on 2021-11-01 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Procurement with Purpose describes a growing and powerful movement - how organisations can use the money they spend with suppliers to help address wider environmental, social and economic issues. That is not just about emissions and climate change, but includes how to address issues such as biodiversity and habitat loss, plastics and waste, modern slavery, inequality and discrimination, and more. That organisational 'buying power' is now being used to drive change across the business and political world. With case studies from leading organisations, insightful analysis of 'business purpose' concepts and practical guidance on implementing these ideas through the procurement and contracting cycle, Procurement with Purpose is a fascinating and valuable resource for anyone interested in how organisations can help protect and nurture this planet and its people.

This book was released on 2017-11-01 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication provides a standard compilation of supply and use tables (SUTs) for 19 economies in Asia and the Pacific to help them comply with the United Nations 2008 System of National Accounts (SNA) recommendations. SUTs are an integrated statistical estimation and economic analysis model that facilitates the compilation of more reliable, consistent, and internationally comparable estimates of key economic statistics such as gross domestic product. The improved and more detailed statistics are expected to provide a better basis for measuring economic output and growth; facilitating informed policy making; and monitoring progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), relating especially to poverty alleviation, economic growth, technological progress, and industrial and infrastructure development. The compilation of SUTs is an essential first step to establish an effective statistical system in any economy. In 2014, ADB embarked on a data development and capacity building project to assist 19 members construct benchmark SUTs for the latest possible year. This publication outlines the relevant statistical and economic concepts, data compilation and development practices, project implementation strategies, and the results of the project. It also includes an abridged version of the SUTs of the 19 participating economies. The more detailed tables are available online through the ADB website.

Download or read book Compendium for the Civic Economy written by and published by Valiz. This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A civic economy is emerging," this book declares, "one which is fundamentally both open and social." In the aftermath of the financial crisis, and in an era of profound environmental and social change, a collective reflection is taking place on how to share civic prosperity. In the meantime, an increasing number of social innovators are getting on with the job of remaking local economies. Though locally driven, their initiatives are rooted in global cultural and technological trends that preceded the recent economic downturn. Compendium for the Civic Economy looks at 25 trailblazing projects, including the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co., which helps young people with writing skills (while also selling superhero gear); Tcho, a participatory chocolate manufacturer in San Francisco; and various collectively founded or structured supermarkets, hospitals, theaters and even internet providers throughout the United Kingdom and mainland Europe.

Download or read book The Defence Industrial Triptych written by Henrik Heidenkamp and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-02-20 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relationship between government and the businesses that contribute towards the defence and security of the state is a critical one; it often underscores a modern state’s foreign policy and sense of place in the world. Yet, despite its clear importance, this subject is underexplored and rarely analysed in a rigorous manner. As a consequence, government defence industrial policies, if they exist at all, often seem somewhat contrived, ill-considered and contradictory. The Defence Industrial Triptych systematically analyses the components and drivers of the relationships that bind a government to its defence industrial base by examining three major case studies: the UK, US and Germany, who between them account for over three quarters of NATO defence spending. The features of their defence industrial relationships –whether common or unique – provide vital lessons for policy-makers, industrialists and the taxpayer. As defence cuts bite across NATO and as the UK approaches the 2015 Strategic Defence and Security Review, the relationships this Whitehall Paper considers are more important than ever.
