Download or read book A Text Book of Inorganic Chemistry Vol 2 written by Alfred a Bennett and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A d104-Book of Inorganic Chemistry, Vol. 2: Descriptive, Theoretical, and Practical a Manual for Advanced Students, Part II, Metallic Elements and Qualitative Analysis The favorable reception that has been given to Part I. Of this work has encouraged the author to publish Part II., which completes the volume. The same general method of present ing the subject that was adopted for Part I. Has been fol lowed in this part. The treatment given the classification of the elements by the periodic law it is hoped will prove sufficiently extended to meet the needs of students using this work, although many points in reference to it have not been spoken of. Much work in collecting and bringing periodic facts together has been merely suggested, and then left for the. Student (and instructor) to do, in the hope that it will stimulate a study of these facts, and thus impress them on the mind of the learner. The writer believes that quantitative study should begin early in a course in chemistry, and so much of this has been introduced as experience has shown beginners can profitably do. Book Chemistry Inorganic Qualitative Analysis in the Laboratory

Download or read book Chemistry Inorganic Qualitative Analysis in the Laboratory written by Clyde Metz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemistry: Inorganic Qualitative Analysis in the Laboratory is a textbook dealing with qualitative analysis in the laboratory, as well as with the process of anion and cation analysis. The book presents an overview of the subject of inorganic qualitative analysis, including as the equipment, reagents, and procedures that are going to be used in the laboratory. Preliminary experiments include the classification of precipitates, handling precipitates, separation techniques, flame tests, Brown ring test, solvent extraction. The text also describes in detail how to prepare the experiment for anion and cation analysis such as testing for water solubility in a solid sample or the sodium carbonate treatment of a water-soluble sample. The book also explains the qualitative analysis for anions in preliminary and specific tests. In the qualitative analysis for cations, the student follows different procedures for Cation Groups I, II, III, IV or V. For example, the ions of Cation Group V cannot be precipitated by any Cation Groups I-IV reagents, nor by any single group reagent. The textbook is suitable for both chemistry teachers and freshmen students.

Book excerpt: Chemistry with Inorganic Qualitative Analysis is a textbook that describes the application of the principles of equilibrium represented in qualitative analysis and the properties of ions arising from the reactions of the analysis. This book reviews the chemistry of inorganic substances as the science of matter, the units of measure used, atoms, atomic structure, thermochemistry, nuclear chemistry, molecules, and ions in action. This text also describes the chemical bonds, the representative elements, the changes of state, water and the hydrosphere (which also covers water pollution and water purification). Water purification occurs in nature through the usual water cycle and by the action of microorganisms. The air flushes dissolved gases and volatile pollutants; when water seeps through the soil, it filters solids as they settle in the bottom of placid lakes. Microorganisms break down large organic molecules containing mostly carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur, or phosphorus into harmless molecules and ions. This text notes that natural purification occurs if the level of contaminants is not so excessive. This textbook is suitable for both chemistry teachers and students.
