Book Stable Networks and Product Graphs

Download or read book Stable Networks and Product Graphs written by Tomás Feder and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1995 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The structural and algorithmic study of stability in nonexpansive networks is based on a representation of the possible assignments of Boolean values for a network as vertices in a Boolean hypercube under the associated Hamming metric. This global view takes advantage of the median properties of the hypercube, and extends to metric networks, where individual values are now chosen from the finite metric spaces and combined by means of an additive product operation. The relationship between products of metric spaces and products of graphs then establishes a connection between isometric representation in graphs and nonexpansiveness in metric networks.

Book Geometry of Cuts and Metrics

Download or read book Geometry of Cuts and Metrics written by Michel Marie Deza and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-11-12 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cuts and metrics are well-known objects that arise - independently, but with many deep and fascinating connections - in diverse fields: in graph theory, combinatorial optimization, geometry of numbers, combinatorial matrix theory, statistical physics, VLSI design etc. This book presents a wealth of results, from different mathematical disciplines, in a unified comprehensive manner, and establishes new and old links, which cannot be found elsewhere. It provides a unique and invaluable source for researchers and graduate students. From the Reviews: "This book is definitely a milestone in the literature of integer programming and combinatorial optimization. It draws from the Interdisciplinarity of these fields [...]. With knowledge about the relevant terms, one can enjoy special subsections without being entirely familiar with the rest of the chapter. This makes it not only an interesting research book but even a dictionary. [...] The longer one works with it, the more beautiful it becomes." Optima 56, 1997.

Download or read book Graph Classes written by Andreas Brandstadt and published by SIAM. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This well-organized reference is a definitive encyclopedia for the literature on graph classes. It contains a survey of more than 200 classes of graphs, organized by types of properties used to define and characterize the classes, citing key theorems and literature references for each. The authors state results without proof, providing readers with easy access to far more key theorems than are commonly found in other mathematical texts. Interconnections between graph classes are also provided to make the book useful to a variety of readers.

Book Combinatorial Design Theory

Download or read book Combinatorial Design Theory written by C.J. Colbourn and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-09-22 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combinatorial design theory is a vibrant area of combinatorics, connecting graph theory, number theory, geometry, and algebra with applications in experimental design, coding theory, and numerous applications in computer science. This volume is a collection of forty-one state-of-the-art research articles spanning all of combinatorial design theory. The articles develop new methods for the construction and analysis of designs and related combinatorial configurations; both new theoretical methods, and new computational tools and results, are presented. In particular, they extend the current state of knowledge on Steiner systems, Latin squares, one-factorizations, block designs, graph designs, packings and coverings, and develop recursive and direct constructions. The contributions form an overview of the current diversity of themes in design theory for those peripherally interested, while researchers in the field will find it to be a major collection of research advances. The volume is dedicated to Alex Rosa, who has played a major role in fostering and developing combinatorial design theory.

Book Bipartite Graphs and Their Applications

Download or read book Bipartite Graphs and Their Applications written by Armen S. Asratian and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1998-07-13 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book which deals solely with bipartite graphs. Together with traditional material, the reader will also find many new and unusual results. Essentially all proofs are given in full; many of these have been streamlined specifically for this text. Numerous exercises of all standards have also been included. The theory is illustrated with many applications especially to problems in timetabling, Chemistry, Communication Networks and Computer Science. For the most part the material is accessible to any reader with a graduate understanding of mathematics. However, the book contains advanced sections requiring much more specialized knowledge, which will be of interest to specialists in combinatorics and graph theory.
