Book Belgian Photographers 1839 1939

Download or read book Belgian Photographers 1839 1939 written by Frank Driesen and published by Brepols Publishers. This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Searching for information on locally, nationally or internationally renowned amateur or professional photographers working in Belgium before the Second World War? Maybe you will find some information on the internet, but still a lot has only been published in print. This printed information is very scattered and difficult to find. It may have been published in journals on culture and art, on heritage, on local and general history, on photography and history of photography, in catalogues of collections and exhibitions, in reference works, monographs and theses. 'Belgian Photographers 1839-1939' provides an overview of printed publications published after 1945 about Belgian photographers active from the discovery of photography until the Second World War. It presents a chronological bibliography, an author index and - most importantly - a completely comprehensive photographer index. This means that the references of all publications in which a particular photographer is mentioned, can be found in the bibliography. Definitely this book will be an essential guide for all those with an interest in the history of photography in Belgium, including photo and art historians, heritage researchers, genealogists and archivists.

Book excerpt: Franz Liszt: A Research and Information Guide is an annotated bibliography concerning both the nature of primary sources related to the composer and the scope and significance of the secondary sources which deal with him, his compositions, and his influence as a composer and performer. The second edition includes research published since the publication of the first edition and provide electronic resources. Franz Liszt was born on 22 October 1811 at Raiding, today located in Austria’s Burgenland. He received his first piano lessons from his father, Adam Liszt, an employee of the celebrated Eszterházy family. Young Franz was quickly acclaimed a prodigy, and in 1820 a group of Hungarian magnates offered to underwrite his musical education. Shortly thereafter the Liszts moved to Vienna, where Franz studied piano and composition with Carl Czerny and Anton Salieri. Performances there earned Liszt local fame; even Beethoven expressed interest in him.
