It is not expected that the present incomplete compilation will be absolutely free from errors, but it is believed that nothing is stated in it as fact, which cannot be proved by Parish Registers, Probate Records, or Contemporaneous Family Papers; while every thing of a traditional character is mentioned as such. To the late Hon. James Savage, to the late H. G. Somerby, Esq., to Richard Almack, Esq., F.S.A., of Long Melford, co. Suffolk, acknowledgment is due for clearing up much that was obscure in the older pedigrees; while in the "Life and Letters of John Winthrop," by Hon. Robert C.
