Book excerpt: A UNIQUE BOOK that knits the Old and New Testaments firmly together, helps you to read the Bible 'as one book', and enables you to walk more closely with the One True God. In one handy volume, A PATHWAY INTO THE BIBLE meets the urgent need for Christians to understand the whole Bible for themselves, get to know God for themselves, and be able to explain and defend the Gospel of God for themselves, in the face of modern-day distortions of it. A PATHWAY INTO THE BIBLE contains: 2 Thumbnail Sketches of the Old and New Testaments (30 pages in all), 58 Short Walks through every book of the Bible, 30 Walking Meditations to share with God, 170 Bold Italic Paragraphs that tackle the tricky bits, and '12 Evidences of God's Presence Hidden in Plain Sight in the Bible and in the World.' All in the space of 537 pages. The Short Walks through every Bible book last from 5 minutes (Titus) to 30 minutes (Genesis) to 40 minutes (John's Gospel) to 60 minutes (Isaiah) to 90 minutes (The Psalms). And 49 of the Bible's 66 books can be 'walked through' in 35 minutes or less. The book takes its personal inspiration from the author's preaching motto: 'Take it from me, you can't just take it from me!' And it takes its historical inspiration from William Tyndale, who published the first translation of the Bible into English in the sixteenth century. Tyndale wrote a Preface for his readers, many of whom were seeing the Bible for the first time, called 'A Pathway into the Holy Scripture.' Let A PATHWAY INTO THE BIBLE - WALKING WITH GOD THEN AND NOW be your introduction to God and His Word.WHAT OTHERS SAY..."This book is the fruit, not only of many hours of writing, but of many years soaking in, drawing from, living and teaching the Bible as the written interface between us and the God who loves us. Stuart is not afraid to acknowledge and comment on 'difficult' passages that challenge some current social or moral assumptions. His style is not to dismiss or minimise these passages, but rather take them seriously as part of God's revelation."(MARK CHURCHWARD - Leader, Southend Christian Fellowship and Co-ordinator of 'Love Southend', Essex)"This new Pathway can do for today's Christians and church leaders, what Tyndale's Pathway did in his era. In my 37 years of fellowship with Sri Lankan friends in east London, both Hindus and Christians, this was just the sort of clear, relevant guidance that we needed. Now that I am working with new churches in Kenya, I see that Pathway is very suitable for translating into languages that are very short of this type of resource."(JONATHAN EDEN - Planter of Tamil churches in East London)"I have found this book very informative and it has encouraged me to read and re-read the Bible and to understand it more fully. I have especially appreciated referring to it when delving into individual Bible books." (GERALDINE LEDIEURT - Active member of her local church)"Any book that enables us to go deeper into a relationship with God through a greater understanding and a greater voice above all other voices speaking into our lives... THAT is a book worth reading, again and again. So it is with Stuart's book. I wholeheartedly recommend A Pathway Into The Bible."(GAVIN DIXON - Leader, King's Church Southend (New Frontiers)"During the time that Stuart and I were colleagues in ministry we used to meet on a weekly basis for worship, prayer and fellowship. I was often blessed by Stuart's insightful comments on Scripture. His comments invariably opened up fresh avenues of thought for me. In this book he has been able to expand more fully on many of the topics we discussed, opening up each book in a way that sets its context in history and makes its purpose and teaching clear and easily understood. It is my privilege to commend this book to you as an aid to understanding what you read as you delve into the Bible."(MIKE WRIGHT - Senior Minister, Westcliff Elim Christian Centre)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Looking for God in all the wrong places? Then read this book. Its an in depth journey through the Holy Scriptures of the bible to guide you through Gods pathway of salvation which he has provided for human life on this earth. In the world of today, there are some many avenues and paths to choose in life. God has given man the freedom to choose his own destiny, but in that freedom he has asked that we choose wisely making right choices. What is the right choice in life? This book is here to help answer that question. The bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; therefore, having godly fear is the first wise path that anyone can choose. Why is it wise to fear God? It is wise because once we begin to give God his due respect as the creator of life, is where we begin our journey toward discovering every other right and wise pathway life has to offer, which leads to true salvation and in the end eternal life. This book is a journey through the Holy Scriptures of the bible in finding that right path to help clear up the fog in the minds of so many looking to know and understand what is true and what is right. God has already laid the foundation by the scriptures that we may have the tools and the ability to build a life of success according to the Master who created this great world in which we live; and who knows best. If you have a true desire to understand the scriptures and want to know what God can do in your life; if you are confused about the bible and religion but hope to find the pathway leading to true salvation; then read this book. Is is here to give good education on biblical truths. And as you read, keep the bible handy: because this book is designed so that as you read it, you will need the bible for reference; in hopes that you might find the true pathway to paradise.

Book excerpt: Pathway to Life presents in a concise and systematic way the basic teachings of the Bible. It strives to offer a balanced, nondenominational understanding of the Scriptures. Where a biblical teaching can be interpreted in more than one way, this is acknowledged by presenting alternate views. Conclusions are supported by scripture references. However, it is also recognized that some biblical teachings are humanly incomprehensible and must of necessity remain a mystery. While the range of topics is comprehensive, the size and scope of the book do not permit an exhaustive study of any one topic. May this book help to shed light in the hearts and minds of those drawn to the reality of the Christian life and spirituality ¿ a pathway to life.

Book excerpt: Sacred Pathways reveals nine distinct spiritual temperaments--and their strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies--to help you improve your spiritual life and deepen your personal walk with God. It's time to strip away the frustration of a one-size-fits-all spirituality and discover a path of worship that frees you to be you. Experienced spiritual directors, pastors, and church leaders recognize that all of us engage with God differently, and it's about time we do too. In this updated and expanded edition of Sacred Pathways, Gary Thomas details nine spiritual temperaments and--like the Enneagram and other tools do with personality--encourages you to investigate the ways you most naturally express yourself in your relationship with God. He encourages you to dig into the traits, strengths, and pitfalls in your devotional approach so you can eliminate the barriers that keep you locked into rigid methods of worship and praise. Plus, as you begin to identify and understand your own temperament, you'll soon learn about the temperaments that aren't necessarily "you" but that may help you understand the spiritual tendencies of friends, family, and others around you. Whatever temperament or blend of temperaments best describes you, rest assured it's not by accident. It's by the design of a Creator who knew what he was doing when he made you according to his own unique intentions. If your spiritual walk is not what you'd like it to be, you can change that, starting here. Sacred Pathways will show you the route you were made to travel, marked by growth and filled with the riches of a close walk with God. A Sacred Pathways video Bible study is also available for group or individual use, sold separately.

Book excerpt: Today's alphabet soup of doctrinal views on salvation mirrors the chaotic spiritual experience prevalent throughout much of Christianity: the largest Christian church in the world continues to be plagued by sex-abuse scandals; regular church attendance across many denominations keeps dropping; the divorce rate within Christianity is essentially the same as that outside of it; and shockingly large numbers of Christians, including many pastors, remain addicted to pornography, alcohol, nicotine, and other destructive habits. As a result, Christianity is steadily losing its influence on society-and its hold on the human heart. Yet Jesus promised, "this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations" (Matthew 24:14). But which gospel? Certainly not the one strangling much of Christianity today. Certainly not the one that has left millions of its adherents helpless victims to the power of sin. Certainly not the one that gives the unbelieving world reason to mock the confusion and in-fighting seen in many churches today. No, "this gospel" can only refer to the same gospel that the apostle Paul wrote about in Romans 1:16 when he said, "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth." For over 120 years, this book has guided thousands of people into a life-changing relationship with God. In these pages you will find explained simply and clearly how the plan of salvation works, and how the Bible's promises can become reality in your life. Discover and experience God's pathway to peace and spiritual victory!

Book excerpt: God’s code of conduct is as relevant and insistent today as it’s always been. The landscape of contemporary society reveals that we neither know nor care much about the Law of God. There is: A general lawlessness in the lives of professing Christians. An absence of the fear of God in public worship and private living. A growing confidence in ourselves and doubt concerning God and His Word. Amidst this moral crisis, the message of the Ten Commandments can give us order, direction, and hope. With dynamic implications for how each of us lives every day, Pathway to Freedom will challenge you to think long and hard about the significance of God’s Law. “We have entered into a time of moral crisis in our culture and in the church as well. Stories about divorce, adultery, and the individualized picking and choosing of doctrines abound. Pathway to Freedom is forthright and necessary teaching that today’s church cannot afford to ignore. How now shall we live? The beginning of the answer must be in obedience to God’s moral law summarized in the Ten Commandments.” —CHARLES COLSON, PRISON FELLOWSHIP MINISTRIES, WASHINGTON, D.C.

Book Doctrinal Treatises and Introductions to Different Portions of the Holy Scriptures

This book was released on 2005-04-25 with total page 607 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Parker Society was the London-based Anglican society that printed in fifty-four volumes the works of the leading English Reformers of the sixteenth century. It was formed in 1840 and disbanded in 1855 when its work was completed. Named after Matthew Parker -- the first Elizabethan Archbishop of Canterbury, who was known as a great collector of books -- the stimulus for the foundation of the society was provided by the Tractarian movement, led by John Henry Newman and Edward B. Pusey. Some members of this movement spoke disparagingly of the English Reformation, and so some members of the Church of England felt the need to make available in an attractive form the works of the leaders of that Reformation.
