Book Time Resolved Spectroscopy

Download or read book Time Resolved Spectroscopy written by Thomas Weinacht and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-12-21 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This concise and carefully developed text offers a reader friendly guide to the basics of time-resolved spectroscopy with an emphasis on experimental implementation. The authors carefully explain and relate for the reader how measurements are connected to the core physical principles. They use the time-dependent wave packet as a building block for understanding quantum dynamics, progressively advancing to more complex topics. The topics are discussed in paired sections, one discussing the theory and the next presenting the related experimental methods. A wide range of readers including students and newcomers to the field will gain a clear and practical understanding of how to measure aspects of molecular dynamics such as wave packet motion, intramolecular vibrational relaxation, and electron-electron coupling, and how to describe such measurements mathematically.

Download or read book Impurity Spectra of Solids written by K. K. Rebane and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is very rewarding for an author to know that his book is to be translated into another language and become available to a new circle of readers. The study of the optics and spectroscopy of activated crys stals has continued to grow. The development and first remarkable successes of light scattering by impurities in crystals have occurred in the comparatively short time since my original book was sent to press. After experimental observation of the sidebands (wings) in impurity infrared absorption spectra, interest in these spectra as a source of information on the vibrations of a crystal in the neigh borhood of an impurity has increased significantly. Therefore, in addition to making minor corrections, r have supplemented the section on the effect of anharmonicity (section25) and written two new sections and another Appendix on infrared ab sorption, scattering of light by an impurity center in a crystal, and the adiabatic approximation, respectively. The bibliography has received several dozen new entries, but it nevertheless does not pretend to be complete. r hope that the American edition is useful and in some de gree corresponds to the general deepening of our physical under standing of solids.

Book A Trajectory Description of Quantum Processes II Applications

Download or read book A Trajectory Description of Quantum Processes II Applications written by Ángel S. Sanz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-09-13 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trajectory-based formalisms are an intuitively appealing way of describing quantum processes because they allow the use of "classical" concepts. Beginning as an introductory level suitable for students, this two-volume monograph presents (1) the fundamentals and (2) the applications of the trajectory description of basic quantum processes. This second volume is focussed on simple and basic applications of quantum processes such as interference and diffraction of wave packets, tunneling, diffusion and bound-state and scattering problems. The corresponding analysis is carried out within the Bohmian framework. By stressing its interpretational aspects, the book leads the reader to an alternative and complementary way to better understand the underlying quantum dynamics.

Book Tunneling And Its Implications

Download or read book Tunneling And Its Implications written by Daniela Mugnai and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1997 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The motion of a particle undergoing quantum tunneling has long been an open and debated problem in several aspects. One of the most discussed is the determination of the time spent in such processes, but many other features deserve consideration. In this volume, both theoretical and experimental aspects, such as quantum measurement, optical analogy, experimental tests, solid state devices and time scale for anomalies (quantum Zeno effect and superluminal evanescence), are explored."--Publisher's website

Book Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry and its Applications

Download or read book Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry and its Applications written by E.W. Schlag and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The resurgence of time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF-MS) has had its origin in the simplicity of construction and application of such instruments together with the high transmission and the great increase in resolution that has been achieved. The instrument lends itself naturally to a coupling with pulsed laser sources, though this is not a prerequisite. It also affords a time resolution far beyond that traditionally achieved with mass spectrometric rapid scan techniques - a recent example being the real-time analysis of a multi-component mixture from an automobile exhaust. Furthermore, the mass range appears to be extremely large: mass up to 500 kDa and beyond what is being readily measured in the laboratory today. The present set of contributions attempts to give a survey of current applications from many of the active groups in the field. A variety of new applications are considered which are no doubt just the beginning of large new areas of application. By presenting this work in book form it is hoped that it will be of help to the many groups intending to initiate work in this rapidly expanding new area of mass spectrometry.

Book Computational Neuroscience

Download or read book Computational Neuroscience written by J.M. Bower and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1999-07-08 with total page 1114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume includes papers originally presented at the 7th annual Computational Neuroscience Meeting (CNS'98) held in July of 1998 at the Fess Parker Doubletree Inn in Santa Barbara, California. The CNS meetings bring together computational neuroscientists representing many different fields and backgrounds as well as many different experimental preparations and theoretical approaches. The papers published here range from pure experimental neurobiology, to neuro-ethology, mathematics, physics, and engineering. In all cases the research described is focused on understanding how nervous systems compute. The actual subjects of the research include a highly diverse number of preparations, modeling approaches, and analysis techniques. Accordingly, this volume reflects the breadth and depth of current research in computational neuroscience taking place throughout the world.
