Book Flows and Chemical Reactions in Heterogeneous Mixtures

Download or read book Flows and Chemical Reactions in Heterogeneous Mixtures written by Roger Prud'homme and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-10-30 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book - a sequel of previous publications 'Flows and Chemical Reactions' and 'Chemical Reactions in Flows and Homogeneous Mixtures' - is devoted to flows with chemical reactions in heterogeneous environments. Heterogeneous media in this volume include interfaces and lines. They may be the site of radiation. Each type of flow is the subject of a chapter in this volume. We consider first, in Chapter 1, the question of the generation of environments biphasic individuals: dusty gas, mist, bubble flow. Chapter 2 is devoted to the study at the mesoscopic scale: particle-fluid exchange of momentum and heat with determination of the respective exchange coefficients. In Chapter 3, we establish simplified equations of macroscopic balance for mass, for the momentum and energy, in the case of particles of one size (monodisperse suspension). Radiative phenomena are presented in Chapter 5.

Book Method for Calculation of the One dimensional Nonequilibrium Flow of a General Gas Mixture Through a Hypersonic Nozzle

Download or read book Method for Calculation of the One dimensional Nonequilibrium Flow of a General Gas Mixture Through a Hypersonic Nozzle written by George Emanuel and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The work described is a continuation of that reported previously in AEDC-TN-61-65 (calculation of the one-dimensional nonequilibrium flow of air through a hypersonic nozzle). In particular, a method is presented for the exact numerical calculation of the one-dimensional nonequilibrium flow of a general gas mixture through a converging-diverging nozzle. General equations are given for a mixture of perfect gases with an arbitrary number of species undergoing an arbitrary number of chemical and vibrational rate processes. An inexact but accurate method, similar in form to the method employed in the nonequilibrium case, is also given for calculating the corresponding one-dimensional equilibrium flow. The numerical method of solution applicable to both cases is described, including a simple procedure for starting the nonequilibrium calculations from an equilibrium condition and an improved method for controlling integration step size. The factors that affect over-all computation time are discussed. A computer program for an IBM 7090 has been written for the general gas mixture. Specific calculations are reported for a model of air consisting of O, N, NO, N2, and O2 and including eight chemical reactions plus the vibrational processes of the three diatomic species.

Book Thrust Nozzle Optimization for Non Equilibrium Chemically Reacting Flows Including Boundary Layer Effects

Download or read book Thrust Nozzle Optimization for Non Equilibrium Chemically Reacting Flows Including Boundary Layer Effects written by Joe D. Hoffman and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An optimization analysis and a method for the application of the results are presented for the design of axisymmetric or two-dimensional optimum thrust nozzles for non-equilibrium chemically reacting flows including boundary layer effects. The analysis is based on the usual assumptions applicable to non-equilibrium, chemically reacting flows, and on the assumption that the boundary layer is thin. The problem is formulated to maximize the pressure thrust integral along the supersonic wall contour for a general isoperimetric design constraint. The results of the optimization analysis are a set of hyperbolic partial differential equations for determining the Lagrange multipliers of the optimization problem in the region of interest, and a set of algebraic equations for determining the initial and boundary conditions for these multipliers on the boundaries of the region. Two special cases of the general results for non-equilibrium, chemically reacting flows are presented. These are: (1) flow of a simple dissociating gas, and (2) equilibrium or frozen flow of a general gas mixture. Nozzle design schemes for these two special cases are derived by appropriate reduction of the results for the general case. Numerical schemes for these special cases are discussed. (Author).

Book Numerical Analysis of Converging Diverging Nozzle Flows in Chemical Non Equilibrium

Download or read book Numerical Analysis of Converging Diverging Nozzle Flows in Chemical Non Equilibrium written by R. Walther and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The converging-diverging nozzle geometries, which are presently proposed for hypersonic propulsion systems, are characterized by large expansion area ratios, and by a geometrically variable nozzle throat to control the engine mass flow. Within the expanding nozzle flow, chemical recombination reactions of the combustor exhaust gas products will occur; the limited chemical reaction rates generally leading to a relaxation of the chemical species composition.

Book A Time dependent Analysis for Quasi one dimensional Nozzle Flows with Vibrational and Chemical Nonequilibrium

Download or read book A Time dependent Analysis for Quasi one dimensional Nozzle Flows with Vibrational and Chemical Nonequilibrium written by John David Anderson (Jr.) and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new technique is presented for the numerical solution of quasi-one-dimensional, vibrational and chemical nonequilibrium nozzle flows including nonequilibrium conditions both upstream and downstream of the throat. This new technique is a time-dependent analysis which entails the explicite finite-difference solution of the quasi-one-dimensional unsteady flow equations in steps of time, starting with assumed initial distributions throughout the nozzle. The steady-state solution is approached at large values of time. A virtue of the present time-dependent analysis is its simplicity, which prevails from its initial physical formulation to the successful receipt of numerical results. Also, the present solution yields the transient as well as the steady-state nonequilibrium nozzle flows. To exemplify the present analysis, results are given for several cases of vibrational and chemical nonequilibrium expansions through nozzles. (Author).
