Book Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectral Studies of Amides

Download or read book Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectral Studies of Amides written by Daniel S. Dyer and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The temperature and solvent dependence of the nuclear magnetic resonance (nmr) spectra of a number of amides has been studied. Hindered internal rotation about the C(O)-N and aryl-nitrogen bonds was detected in a series of N-acylhydrazobenzenes. In this series of compounds, hindered rotation about the C(O)-N bond afforded, in most cases, a mixture of cis-trans isomers in solution. These isomers were easily detected by nmr spectroscopy. Thus the free energies of activation, at the coalescence temperatures, for the hindered rotations were calculated. Similar temperature dependence studies on the nmr spectra of N-phenylacetamide and N-(o-tolyl) acetamide also afforded evidence for hindered internal rotation about the C(O)-N bond. However for these compounds, one isomer predominated to such a degree in solution that the presence of the second isomer was barely detected by nmr spectroscopy. A temperature dependence study of the fluorine-19 resonance spectra of both 1 and 2 deg rotation about the C(O)-N bond. However for the first time, coupling between the trifluoromethyl group and a nitrogen proton was observed. Also the proton nmr spectrum of 1,1,1-trifluoroacetamide, itself, in a dry acetone solution at low temperatures afforded the direct observation of two separate signals for the two nitrogen protons. Book Experimental Approaches of NMR Spectroscopy

Download or read book Experimental Approaches of NMR Spectroscopy written by The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Society of Japan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-23 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the advanced developments in methodology and applications of NMR spectroscopy to life science and materials science. Experts who are leaders in the development of new methods and applications of life and material sciences have contributed an exciting range of topics that cover recent advances in structural determination of biological and material molecules, dynamic aspects of biological and material molecules, and development of novel NMR techniques, including resolution and sensitivity enhancement. First, this book particularly emphasizes the experimental details for new researchers to use NMR spectroscopy and pick up the potentials of NMR spectroscopy. Second, the book is designed for those who are involved in either developing the technique or expanding the NMR application fields by applying them to specific samples. Third, the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Society of Japan has organized this book not only for NMR members of Japan but also for readers worldwide who are interested in using NMR spectroscopy extensively.

Book Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

Download or read book Nuclear Magnetic Resonance written by G A Webb and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 436 pages. Book Hydrogen Bonding

    Book Details:
  • Author : Steve Scheiner
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press, USA
  • Release : 1997
  • ISBN : 019509011X
  • Pages : 396 pages

Download or read book Hydrogen Bonding written by Steve Scheiner and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1997 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Because of the importance of the hydrogen bond, there have been scores of insights gained about its fundamental nature by quantum chemical computations over the years. Such methods can probe subtle characteristics of the electronic structure and examine regions of the potential energy surface that are simply not accessible by experimental means. The maturation of the techniques, codes, and computer hardware have permitted calculations of unprecedented reliability and rivaling the accuracy of experimental data. This book strives first toward an appreciation of the power of quantum chemistry to analyze the deepest roots of the hydrogen bond phenomenon. It offers a systematic and understandable account of decades of such calculations, focusing on the most important findings. This book provides readers with the tools to understand the original literature, and to perhaps carry out some calculations of their very own on systems of interest.
