Download or read book A New Life Is Expecting You written by Minister Leandro Olivarez and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-05-21 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The year was 1978 in early June. Vivian and Lucia Olivarez had just accepted Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior. They had been prophesied too many times that their children would all serve the Lord and that all their children would testify and be ministers of the Word of God. This prophecy has been fulfilled. Then in early 2009, they were prophesied again for the third time that they would have a son. This son would be the most rebellious of all their children, and he would be used greatly by God. My name is Leandro Lenn Olivarez. I am the youngest of five children. I am also the copastor of Templo De Alabanza (Temple of Praise) ministry in Rockport, Texas. Under the direct leadership of Senior Pastor Vivian Olivarez, I have been preaching now for over five years. After growing up in the Lord and backsliding, I have seen the ministry of God change so much that it hurts. I can only imagine how God feels. I have spent the majority of my life running from God, and that very rebellion brought some very bad, evil spirits into my life. I was, at one point of my life, a drug user. I was also a heavy metal drummer and radio DJ, chasing after all the wrong things. My parents, who also happen to be my pastors, never stopped praying for me. This book is to show that your life has a greater purpose and it may have already begun. Submitting to God is the first step. What you are about to read are real-life testimonies from me and my family. We have seen the mighty hand of God in our family and in the ministry that God has placed before us. You are also going to see Gods hand in-depth on how he worked in our lives and the difference between believing and true faith deep down. At a very young age, I was exposed to the real full power of God, and this very truth rattled my soul to the very core of my inner being. Another thing God showed me is that everyone believes in something, but believing in the unknown and the unseen is a step of faith. Jesus said that all you have to do is believe because if you can start there with your belief, nothing is impossible. I have encountered evil spirits. I have fought them through the name and the blood of Jesus. I have had encounters with demons; and a witch even sat at my dining room table, looked me in the eye, and threatened me to my face. God showed me that true repentance and the name and the blood of Jesus are the only way to break the curses and be set free. Please pray to the Lord that he will open your spiritual eyes so that you may see what he wants you to see. There is nothing in this whole world that anyone can say to me to change my mind that God still heals people and sets people free from demonic forces. I am a witness to Gods full power. I have seen with my eyes demons back away at the name of Jesus. I asked the Lord that in the name of Jesus Christ, you will receive a blessing from God while you are reading this book. All honor and all glory to my savior, Jesus Christ.

Book excerpt: Words and recipes for the new mother. For many first-time mothers expectations about their new life come from idealised images on TV, in magazines or online. It's a far cry from what it actually involves: lack of sleep, time and control - and total dependency on you by another. Becoming a mother brings extraordinary physical and emotional changes to a woman's life, but it also taps into deep instincts. Heidi Sze's message is to surrender to the changes, reject the guilt and accept the imperfect reality of this new life. Adjusting expectations and being true to your unique needs will bring a comfort, joy and peace that slavishly following rules, imposing unreachable standards and accumulating rooms of gadgets are unlikely to do. As women go through this profound transition, it is crucial that they identify their support needs and trust their intuition. This book will help women do just that. Many people know Heidi from her blog Apples Under My Bed and Instagram account @heidiapples. Book excerpt: When Chitra Ramaswamy discovered she was pregnant, she longed for a book that went above and beyond a manual. A book that did more than simply describe what was happening in her growing body day by day, week by week and month by month. A book that got to the heart of the bewildering, thrilling and strange experience that is pregnancy. Expecting takes the reader on an intimate physical and philosophical journey across the nine months of pregnancy and birth, paying tribute to writers, artists, places and individual histories along the way. Chitra Ramaswamy is an award-winning journalist. She cut her teeth at the Big Issue before moving to the Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday, where she became a leading columnist, book reviewer, interviewer and feature writer. Now freelance, Chitra writes for the Guardian, The Times, Lonely Planet Traveller and a number of other publications. She lives in Edinburgh with her partner, son and rescue dog. Times Literary Supplement ‘Drawing on Sylvia Plath, Susan Sontag and Gustave Courbet’s dramatic The Origin of the World, Chitra explores the heightened sense of her pregnant body. All of which rings with authenticity right up to the agony of birth, the relief of a Caesarean and the bliss of the baby’s first cry.’ Steven Carroll, Sydney Morning Herald 'Beautifully conceived in a nine-chapter structure pregnant with symbolic meaning, it’s a universal book that should appeal to anyone interested in the human condition, not just those who are expecting.’ SBS Online

Book excerpt: THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER Millions of readers literally defined their lives through Gail Sheehy's landmark bestseller Passages. Seven years ago she set out to write a sequel, but instead she discovered a historic revolution in the adult life cycle. . . People are taking longer to grow up and much longer to die. A fifty-year-old woman--who remains free of cancer and heart disease-- can expect to see her ninety-second birthday. Men, too, can expect a dramatically lengthened life span. The old demarcations and descriptions of adulthood--beginning at twenty-one and ending at sixty-five--are hopelessly out of date. In New Passages, Gail Sheehy discovers and maps out a completely new frontier--a Second Adulthood in middle life. "Stop and recalculate," Sheehy writes. "Imagine the day you turn forty-five as the infancy of another life." Instead of declining, men and women who embrace a Second Adulthood are progressing through entirely new passages into lives of deeper meaning, renewed playfulness, and creativity--beyond both male and female menopause. Through hundreds of personal and group interviews, national surveys of professionals and working-class people, and fresh findings extracted from fifty years of U.S. Census reports, Sheehy vividly dramatizes these newly developing stages. Combining the scholar's ability to synthesize data with the novelist's gift for storytelling, she allows us to make sense of our own lives by understanding others like us. New Passages tells us we have the ability to customize our own life cycle. This groundbreaking work is certain to awaken and permanently alter the way we think about ourselves. "SHEEHY CLEARLY STATES IDEAS ABOUT LIFE THAT HAVE NEVER BEFORE BEEN AS CLEARLY STATED." --Los Angeles Times Book Review "AN OPTIMISTIC ANALYSIS OF ADULT DEVELOPMENT IN PESSIMISTIC TIMES. . . It is grounded in the economic and psychological realities that make adult life so complex today." --The New York Times Book Review

Book The Art of Waiting

Download or read book The Art of Waiting written by Belle Boggs and published by Graywolf Press. This book was released on 2016-09-06 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A brilliant exploration of the natural, medical, psychological, and political facets of fertility When Belle Boggs's "The Art of Waiting" was published in Orion in 2012, it went viral, leading to republication in Harper's Magazine, an interview on NPR's The Diane Rehm Show, and a spot at the intersection of "highbrow" and "brilliant" in New York magazine's "Approval Matrix." In that heartbreaking essay, Boggs eloquently recounts her realization that she might never be able to conceive. She searches the apparently fertile world around her--the emergence of thirteen-year cicadas, the birth of eaglets near her rural home, and an unusual gorilla pregnancy at a local zoo--for signs that she is not alone. Boggs also explores other aspects of fertility and infertility: the way longing for a child plays out in the classic Coen brothers film Raising Arizona; the depiction of childlessness in literature, from Macbeth to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; the financial and legal complications that accompany alternative means of family making; the private and public expressions of iconic writers grappling with motherhood and fertility. She reports, with great empathy, complex stories of couples who adopted domestically and from overseas, LGBT couples considering assisted reproduction and surrogacy, and women and men reflecting on childless or child-free lives. In The Art of Waiting, Boggs deftly distills her time of waiting into an expansive contemplation of fertility, choice, and the many possible roads to making a life and making a family.
