Book excerpt: The best-worst method (BWM) is a multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) method for evaluating a set of alternatives based on a set of decision criteria where two vectors of pairwise comparisons are used to calculate the importance weight of decision criteria. The BWM is an efficient and mathematically sound method used to solve a wide range of MCDM problems by reducing the number of pairwise comparisons and identifying the inconsistencies derived from the comparison process. In spite of its simplicity and efficiency, the BWM does not consider the decision-makers’ (DMs’) confidence about their pairwise comparisons. We propose a neutrosophic enhancement to the original BWM by introducing two new parameters as the DMs’ confidence in the best-to-others preferences and the DMs’ confidence in the others-to-worst preferences. We present two real-world cases to illustrate the applicability of the proposed neutrosophic enhanced BWM (NE-BWM) by considering confidence rating levels of the DMs.

Book A Hybrid Neutrosophic Grey Analytic Hierarchy Process Method Decision Making Modelling in Uncertain Environments

Download or read book A Hybrid Neutrosophic Grey Analytic Hierarchy Process Method Decision Making Modelling in Uncertain Environments written by Amin Vafadarnikjoo and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is recognised as one of the most commonly applied methods in the multiple attribute decision-making (MADM) literature. In the AHP, encompassing uncertainty feature necessitates using suitable uncertainty theories, since dealing efficiently with uncertainty in subjective judgements is of great importance in real-world decision-making problems. The neutrosophic set (NS) theory and grey systems are two reliable uncertainty theories which can bring considerable benefits to uncertain decision-making. Thea im of this study is to improve uncertain decision-making by incorporating advantages of the NS and grey systems theories with the AHP in investigating sustainability through agility readiness evaluation in large manufacturing plants.

Book Multi criteria decision making method based on the single valued neutrosophic sets

Download or read book Multi criteria decision making method based on the single valued neutrosophic sets written by Minxia Luo and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, a new tangent similarity between single valued neutrosophic sets is given, which contain tangent similarity [23] as a special case. A best-worst multi-criteria decision making method based on the single valued neutrosophic sets is proposed. To achieve this goal, we design an algorithm to identify the best andworst criteria through computing the outdegrees and in-degrees of the collective single valued neutrosophic preference relation directed network, and then calculate the optimal weight vector of attributes. Moreover, a mathematical model corresponding to the definitions of consistent single valued neutrosophic preference relation is contracted. Finaly, the evaluation values of all alternatives are calculated by the proposed new tangent similarity.

Book A Simplified and Improved Best Worst Method for Multi Criteria Decision Making

Download or read book A Simplified and Improved Best Worst Method for Multi Criteria Decision Making written by Mohit Kumar and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The best-worst method (BWM) is a well-known multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method that elicits judgements from a decision maker (DM) in the form of pairwise comparisons. There are two models of BWM that are widely used: non-linear and linear. The main drawback of the non-linear model is the non-uniqueness of the resulting weight set. A linear model gives a unique resulting weight set but with less accuracy than a non-linear model. In this paper, a simplified method is proposed that gives a unique weight set with the same accuracy as non-linear BWM. In the proposed method, first each weight set is associated with some consistent pairwise comparison system and a relationship is established between consistency values and optimal accuracy. Then an algorithm is developed for an optimal modification of the given pairwise comparison system to make it consistent. Here, an optimal modification means that the modified system preserves the original comparison values as much as possible. The weight set associated with this modified consistent pairwise comparison system is the resulting weight set of the proposed model. This weight set is unique and has the same accuracy as the weight sets resulting from the non-linear model of BWM. So if the non-linear model has a unique solution, it is same as the solution of the proposed model. Otherwise the solution of the proposed model is the best among all the solutions of the non-linear model. Thus, the proposed method is an improvement over the BWM. The values of consistency index are also modified based on the proposed method. Finally several examples are taken to illustrate the process and a real-world application (energy efficiency constraints in buildings) is taken to validate the proposed method.

Book Fuzzy Cognitive Maps and Neutrosophic Cognitive Maps

Download or read book Fuzzy Cognitive Maps and Neutrosophic Cognitive Maps written by W. B. Vasantha Kandasamy and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a world of chaotic alignments, traditional logic with its strict boundaries of truth and falsity has not imbued itself with the capability of reflecting the reality. Despite various attempts to reorient logic, there has remained an essential need for an alternative system that could infuse into itself a representation of the real world. Out of this need arose the system of Neutrosophy (the philosophy of neutralities, introduced by FLORENTIN SMARANDACHE), and its connected logic Neutrosophic Logic, which is a further generalization of the theory of Fuzzy Logic. In this book we study the concepts of Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs) and their Neutrosophic analogue, the Neutrosophic Cognitive Maps (NCMs). Fuzzy Cognitive Maps are fuzzy structures that strongly resemble neural networks, and they have powerful and far-reaching consequences as a mathematical tool for modeling complex systems. Neutrosophic Cognitive Maps are generalizations of FCMs, and their unique feature is the ability to handle indeterminacy in relations between two concepts thereby bringing greater sensitivity into the results. Some of the varied applications of FCMs and NCMs which has been explained by us, in this book, include: modeling of supervisory systems; design of hybrid models for complex systems; mobile robots and in intimate technology such as office plants; analysis of business performance assessment; formalism debate and legal rules; creating metabolic and regulatory network models; traffic and transportation problems; medical diagnostics; simulation of strategic planning process in intelligent systems; specific language impairment; web-mining inference application; child labor problem; industrial relations: between employer and employee, maximizing production and profit; decision support in intelligent intrusion detection system; hyper-knowledge representation in strategy formation; female infanticide; depression in terminally ill patients and finally, in the theory of community mobilization and women empowerment relative to the AIDS epidemic.

Book A New Grey Approach for Using SWARA and PIPRECIA Methods in a Group Decision Making Environment

Download or read book A New Grey Approach for Using SWARA and PIPRECIA Methods in a Group Decision Making Environment written by Dragisa Stanujkic and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on 2021-07-01 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The environment in which the decision-making process takes place is often characterized by uncertainty and vagueness and, because of that, sometimes it is very hard to express the criteria weights with crisp numbers. Therefore, the application of the Grey System Theory, i.e., grey numbers, in this case, is very convenient when it comes to determination of the criteria weights with partially known information. Besides, the criteria weights have a significant role in the multiple criteria decision-making process. Many ordinary multiple criteria decision-making methods are adapted for using grey numbers, and this is the case in this article as well. A new grey extension of the certain multiple criteria decision-making methods for the determination of the criteria weights is proposed. Therefore, the article aims to propose a new extension of the Step-wiseWeight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) and PIvot Pairwise Relative Criteria Importance Assessment (PIPRECIA) methods adapted for group decision-making.
