Book A Monte Carlo Simulation of Thermal Driven Fluid Flux Rate and Density Profile

Download or read book A Monte Carlo Simulation of Thermal Driven Fluid Flux Rate and Density Profile written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Effects of uniform temperature and linear temperature gradient on flow rate and density profile of fluid from a source to an open system is studied by a Monte Carlo simulation in three dimensions. The steady-state density profile with uniform temperature differs significantly from that of the temperature gradient at all but high-temperature regimes, where the profile is a linear density gradient the crossover to linear density gradient of the profile is sensitive to range of temperature variation. The response of the flow rate density to the temperature is nonlinear.

Book Monte Carlo Methods in Mechanics of Fluid and Gas

Download or read book Monte Carlo Methods in Mechanics of Fluid and Gas written by Oleg Mikhaĭlovich Belot︠s︡erkovskiĭ and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to analysis of Monte Carlo methods developed in rarefied gas dynamics. Presented is the short history of the development of such methods, described are their main properties, their advantages and deficiencies. It is shown that the contemporary stage in the progress of computational methods cannot be regarded without a complex approach to the preparation of algorithms taking into account all the peculiarities of the problem under consideration, that is, of the physical nature of a process, the mathematical model and the theoretical aspects of computational mathematics and stochastic processes. Thoroughly investigated is the possibility of application of Monte Carlo methods in some kindred areas of science which are non-traditional for the use of statistical modeling (continuous media, turbulence). Considered are the possible directions of development of statistical modeling.

Book Monte Carlo Methods in Statistical Physics

Download or read book Monte Carlo Methods in Statistical Physics written by Kurt Binder and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the seven years since this volume first appeared. there has been an enormous expansion of the range of problems to which Monte Carlo computer simulation methods have been applied. This fact has already led to the addition of a companion volume ("Applications of the Monte Carlo Method in Statistical Physics", Topics in Current Physics. Vol . 36), edited in 1984, to this book. But the field continues to develop further; rapid progress is being made with respect to the implementation of Monte Carlo algorithms, the construction of special-purpose computers dedicated to exe cute Monte Carlo programs, and new methods to analyze the "data" generated by these programs. Brief descriptions of these and other developments, together with numerous addi tional references, are included in a new chapter , "Recent Trends in Monte Carlo Simulations" , which has been written for this second edition. Typographical correc tions have been made and fuller references given where appropriate, but otherwise the layout and contents of the other chapters are left unchanged. Thus this book, together with its companion volume mentioned above, gives a fairly complete and up to-date review of the field. It is hoped that the reduced price of this paperback edition will make it accessible to a wide range of scientists and students in the fields to which it is relevant: theoretical phYSics and physical chemistry , con densed-matter physics and materials science, computational physics and applied mathematics, etc.

Book Monte Carlo Analysis of Lobular Gas surface Scattering in Tubes Applied to Thermal Transpiration

Download or read book Monte Carlo Analysis of Lobular Gas surface Scattering in Tubes Applied to Thermal Transpiration written by Jerry D. Smith and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A model of rarefied gas flow in tubes was developed which combines a lobular distribution with diffuse reflection at the wall. The model with Monte Carlo techniques was used to explain previously observed deviations in the free molecular thermal transpiration ratio which suggest molecules can have a greater tube transmission probability in a hot-to-cold direction than in a cold-to-hot direction. The model yields correct magnitudes of transmission probability ratios for helium in Pyrex tubing (1.09 to 1.14), and some effects of wall-temperature distribution, tube surface roughness, tube dimensions, gas temperature, and gas molecular mass.

Book Monte Carlo Simulation in Statistical Physics

Download or read book Monte Carlo Simulation in Statistical Physics written by Kurt Binder and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2002 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Monte Carlo Simulation in Statistical Physics deals with the computer simulation of many-body systems in condensed-matter physics and related fields of physics, chemistry and beyond, to traffic flows, stock market fluctuations, etc.). Using random numbers generated by a computer, probability distributions are calculated, allowing the estimation of the thermodynamic properties of various systems. This book describes the theoretical background to several variants of these Monte Carlo methods and gives a systematic presentation from which newcomers can learn to perform such simulations and to analyze their results. This fourth edition has been updated and a new chapter on Monte Carlo simulation of quantum-mechanical problems has been added. To help students in their work a special web server has been installed to host programs and discussion groups (http: //wwwcp.tphys.uni-heidelberg.de). Prof. Binder was the winner of the Berni J. Alder CECAM Award for Computational Physics 2001.

Download or read book Turbulent Reactive Flows written by R. Borghi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 958 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Turbulent reactive flows are of common occurrance in combustion engineering, chemical reactor technology and various types of engines producing power and thrust utilizing chemical and nuclear fuels. Pollutant formation and dispersion in the atmospheric environment and in rivers, lakes and ocean also involve interactions between turbulence, chemical reactivity and heat and mass transfer processes. Considerable advances have occurred over the past twenty years in the understanding, analysis, measurement, prediction and control of turbulent reactive flows. Two main contributors to such advances are improvements in instrumentation and spectacular growth in computation: hardware, sciences and skills and data processing software, each leading to developments in others. Turbulence presents several features that are situation-specific. Both for that reason and a number of others, it is yet difficult to visualize a so-called solution of the turbulence problem or even a generalized approach to the problem. It appears that recognition of patterns and structures in turbulent flow and their study based on considerations of stability, interactions, chaos and fractal character may be opening up an avenue of research that may be leading to a generalized approach to classification and analysis and, possibly, prediction of specific processes in the flowfield. Predictions for engineering use, on the other hand, can be foreseen for sometime to come to depend upon modeling of selected features of turbulence at various levels of sophistication dictated by perceived need and available capability.
