Book A Model for Pricing Rate of Return Guarantees on an Investment

Download or read book A Model for Pricing Rate of Return Guarantees on an Investment written by Kezia Mungoma and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Investment contracts that embed minimum guarantees have attracted researchers as they are increasingly becoming popular because of the high economic value associated with them. This thesis examined the approached of Brennen and Schwartz, the first pioneers who introduced pricing of equity-linked life insurance policies using modern financial techniques, and Miltersen and Persson for valuing such guarantees. The approach by Brennen and Schwartz considers the case of a deterministic interest rate and the approach by Miltersen and Persson examines pricing of rate of return guarantees on the stock return process and short term interest rate process. They also consider the case when interest rates are stochastic.

Book Analysis of Government Guarantees and the Functioning of Asset Backed Securities Markets

Download or read book Analysis of Government Guarantees and the Functioning of Asset Backed Securities Markets written by Diana Hancock and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focuses on a specific market failure that is associated with asset-backed securitization and proposes a tailored gov¿t. remedy. The additional liquidity provided by securitization may (or may not) lower primary loan rates. If guarantee-sensitive investors doubt the credit quality of asset-backed bonds, large risk premiums can develop. If a financial crisis ensues, securitization can disappear from the market entirely, leaving banks that originate the highest quality loans as the only source of credit. This abrupt increase in lending standards can tighten credit, exacerbate asset price declines, and impinge on econ. growth. An institutional structure for stemming ¿runs¿ could be deployed to insure pre-specified asset-backed instruments. Illus. This is a print on demand pub.

Book Regulating Gas Supply to Power Markets

Download or read book Regulating Gas Supply to Power Markets written by Tade Oyewunmi and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2018-05-08 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Natural gas, a vital primary source of energy for the twenty-first century economy, is poised to play a major role in the medium- to long-term outlook of energy systems worldwide. Its supply to power markets for electricity generation and other energy purposes through the stages of exploration, production, gathering, processing, transmission, and distribution have been a key driver in gas commercialisation over the past two to three decades. This book discusses insights from law and economics pertaining to gas and energy supply contracts, regulation, and institutions. It provides an in-depth ‘law-in-context’ analysis of the approaches to developing competitive and secure gas-to-power markets in an increasingly international, interrelated, and interconnected value chain. Recognising a general move towards structural reforms and economic regulation of gas and energy markets globally, the author incisively addresses the following questions: – Is there a single ‘ideal’ model or approach for ensuring effectiveness in the restructuring and regulation of gas supply to power markets? If not, then what constitutes the matrix of models and approaches? – What are the underlying principles, assumptions, and institutional structures that will enhance the modern approaches to developing competitive, secure, and sustainable gas supply to power markets? – What are the factors that determine or affect the effectiveness and efficiency of such approaches and regulatory frameworks? The book critically explores the instrumental role of regulation and organisational institutions in the restructuring and development of gas supply markets. It examines the evolution of economic approaches to regulation, competitiveness, and security of gas supply in the United States and the United Kingdom. It considers the EU as a supranational union of developed economies and Nigeria as a developing economy, in the process of applying these paradigms of economic regulation and restructuring of gas-to-power markets. In a law and policy environment where training and educational centres, lawyers, and public and corporate energy advisors are becoming more concerned about competitiveness and efficiency in gas resource allocation and pricing – and about high-quality governance frameworks for industries that depend on reliable gas supplies – this vital book will be warmly welcomed by lawyers, policymakers, energy consultants, analysts, regulators, corporate investors, academics, and institutions concerned with and engaged in the business of exploration, production, and supply of gas for energy purposes.

Download or read book Water Pricing and Public Private Partnership written by Asit K. Biswas and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-04-10 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no question that water pricing and public-private partnership can improve water management practices in the future. However, this concept is neither the cure-all many proponents argue, nor the disaster its opponents forecast. Providing a comprehensive and objective assessment of what does and does not work, where, why and under what circumstances, this informative collection assesses the social, economic, equity and institutional implications. This cohesive set of carefully selected essays, the result of The Third World Centre for Water Management and the Inter-American Development Bank's decision to objectively and critically assess the experiences in these areas, transcends the current dogmatic debate on these complex issues. Providing an in-depth analysis and assessment of the main issues and constraints of water pricing, private sector participation and their affect on water supply, the collection draws on illustrative case studies from Argentina, Brazil, the USA and Western European countries amongst others. This is a special issue of the Journal of Water Resource Development.
