Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Homework without tears! If you are keen to help your child read more fluently, you will certainly find *A-MINUTE-A-DAY PHONICS interesting. A-MINUTE-A-DAY PHONICS [US] is not a scheme of work. It is a method of supporting/ fine-tuning the phonics work already being undertaken at school. It provides useful evidence that a child really has achieved fluency in a particular skill. It is a no-nonsense way to harness the co-operation of parents and the enthusiasm of the child. The teacher/classroom assistant needs only A-MINUTE-A-DAY to monitor progress, thus preserving valuable teaching time. The book contains 31 photocopiable precision-teaching games, covering an extensive range of phonic skills and is wholly compatible with SYNTHETIC PHONICS. Every game follows the same procedure and requires the child to give 30 correct verbal responses within 1 minute. No writing skills are needed. *A-MINUTE-A-DAY PHONICS and its partner A-MINUTE-A-DAY MATHS have been used extensively throughout the UK since 1999, in both Mainstream and Special Needs schools.

Book 10 Minutes a Day Phonics Kindergarten

Download or read book 10 Minutes a Day Phonics Kindergarten written by Carol Vorderman and published by National Geographic Books. This book was released on 2020-06-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practice makes perfect in just 10 minutes a day! There is nothing more important than your child's education, but sometimes it's difficult to find the time to fit everything in. From DK's best-selling "Made Easy" home-learning workbooks, the 10 Minutes a Day series fits in around busy lives. Aimed at kids ages 5-6 , 10 Minutes a Day Phonics: Kindergarten supports your child as they develop their first English skills in connecting sounds with their letters: identifying first-letter sounds in words, listening for middle- and end-letter sounds, writing the letters of the alphabet, making rhyming strings of words, and showing children how to connect letter sounds to make simple three-letter words. Each exercise is simply and clearly introduced and uses a variety of interesting methods to help learning, from matching exercises to learning how to pronounce and spell out new sounds and words, based on themes that a young child can easily relate to, such as food, animals, and household objects. For the eager student, there are extra "time filler" challenges on every page if they finish the questions within 10 minutes and want to continue practicing, or just want ideas for additional activities to do at home. Answers are provided, along with parents' notes that explain what your child learns from the exercise, making this series perfect for homeschooling, or just helping your child stay ahead.

Book Reading Fluency

  • Author : Timothy Rasinski
  • Publisher : MDPI
  • Release : 2021-01-21
  • ISBN : 3039432680
  • Pages : 146 pages

Download or read book Reading Fluency written by Timothy Rasinski and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-01-21 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reading fluency has been identified as a key component of proficient reading. Research has consistently demonstrated significant and substantial correlations between reading fluency and overall reading achievement. Despite the great potential for fluency to have a significant outcome on students’ reading achievement, it continues to be not well understood by teachers, school administrators and policy makers. The chapters in this volume examine reading fluency from a variety of perspectives. The initial chapter sketches the history of fluency as a literacy instruction component. Following chapters examine recent studies and approaches to reading fluency, followed by chapters that explore actual fluency instruction models and the impact of fluency instruction. Assessment of reading fluency is critical for monitoring progress and identifying students in need of intervention. Two articles on assessment, one focused on word recognition and the other on prosody, expand our understanding of fluency measurement. Finally, a study from Turkey explores the relationship of various reading competencies, including fluency, in an integrated model of reading. Our hope for this volume is that it may spark a renewed interest in research into reading fluency and fluency instruction and move toward making fluency instruction an even more integral part of all literacy instruction.
