A lyric, just written, found in the empty boat, is the swan song referred to in stanza XLV I of the elegy. He had that very day com pleted a poetic drama entitled Gauvaine of The Retz, dealing with the Pornic legend of Gold Hair; but the manuscript disappeared with him and has never been found.
