Book A Methodology to Model the Statistical Fracture Behavior of Acrylic Glasses for Stochastic Simulation

Download or read book A Methodology to Model the Statistical Fracture Behavior of Acrylic Glasses for Stochastic Simulation written by Marcel Berlinger and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this work, a methodology is proposed to statistically model the fracture behavior of acrylic glasses for numerical simulation. The aim is to give guidance to users of comparable materials. In detail, the collection of necessary measurement data and their analysis is presented. By applying the model, a stochastic finite-element simulation is performed for a head impact onto an automotive rear-side window made from acrylic glass. Based on the wide spread of the resulting head injury criteria, the relevance of a statistical material characterization for product safety is discussed. Marcel Berlinger studied mechanical engineering at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen - University of Applied Sciences, and completed his Master's degree in 2017. Since then, he has been a research assistant and doctoral student in the Team of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Stefan Kolling at the Institute of Mechanics and Materials at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen.

Book A Methodology to Model the Statistical Fracture Behavior of Acrylic Glasses for Stochastic Simulation

Download or read book A Methodology to Model the Statistical Fracture Behavior of Acrylic Glasses for Stochastic Simulation written by Marcel Berlinger and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-06-30 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A statistical modelling method for simulating the fracture behaviour of acrylic glass is presented using the application case of an automotive rear side window. The collection of the necessary measurement data and their analysis is described. The aim is to give guidance to users of comparable materials. Finally, the model is integrated into the finite element simulation of a head impact test of the pane. Based on the resulting spread of the head injury criterion, the relevance of a statistical material characterisation for product safety is discussed.

Book Modeling Fracture Behavior in Precision Glass Molding

Download or read book Modeling Fracture Behavior in Precision Glass Molding written by Gang Liu and published by Apprimus Wissenschaftsverlag. This book was released on 2018-08-21 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A temperature and strain rates dependent fracture model is developed based on Weibull statistics to quantitatively describe the brittle-ductile transition of glass fracture in precision glass molding process. Under the assistance of FEM simulation, this fracture model can be used to calculate the fracture probability of glass during the precision glass molding process. Meanwhile, the most probable fracture timing, location of fracture initiation and fracture pattern can be also predicted.

Book Materials Behavior

Download or read book Materials Behavior written by Mihai Ciocoiu and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of advanced materials has become extremely important in the last decade, being widely used in academic and industrial research. This book examines the potential of advanced materials as well as nanotechnology to improve fiber science from fibril to fabric mode, to create better materials and products for a variety of aspects. The book presents research advances in materials behavior using fractal analysis, mathematical modeling and simulation, and other methods. Examined are electrical, mechanical, optical, and magnetic properties; size; morphology; and chemical behavior of such materials as aerogels, polymer films, nanocomposite materials, natural composites, catalysis, and more with a view to their application in the medical, engineering, and textile fields. With chapters written by eminent scientists, the book offers valuable information for academics, researchers, and engineering professionals. Contributions range from new methods to novel applications of existing methods to help readers gain understanding of the material and/or structural behavior of new and advanced systems.

Book Handbook of Structural Life Assessment

Download or read book Handbook of Structural Life Assessment written by Raouf A. Ibrahim and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-03-29 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important, self-contained reference deals with structural life assessment (SLA) and structural health monitoring (SHM) in a combined form. SLA periodically evaluates the state and condition of a structural system and provides recommendations for possible maintenance actions or the end of structural service life. It is a diversified field and relies on the theories of fracture mechanics, fatigue damage process, and reliability theory. For common structures, their life assessment is not only governed by the theory of fracture mechanics and fatigue damage process, but by other factors such as corrosion, grounding, and sudden collision. On the other hand, SHM deals with the detection, prediction, and location of crack development online. Both SLA and SHM are combined in a unified and coherent treatment.
