Book Instrumentation Systems

Download or read book Instrumentation Systems written by Enoch J. Durbin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flight Testing, Volume IV: Instrumentation Systems serves as a guide to flight test instrumentation systems for establishing flight test programs. This book provides aircraft flight testers with the information required to appreciate the capabilities and limitations of the instrumentation techniques, indicating some of the many alternatives possible in flight instrumentation. It considers the systems concept in planning flight test instrumentation and functional organization of the component parts of an instrumentation system, followed by a discussion of the components of a flight data acquisition and reduction system that are organized into functional categories. Within these categories, a comparison is made between the various data collection systems and data reducing systems. The similarities, advantages, and limitations of each type of system component and significance of the fundamental properties of each device are also noted in this volume. This compilation is written primarily for persons not well-trained in electronics with special emphasis toward promoting the systems point of view in considering the problems of measurement in flight.

Book A Nonlinear Theory for Predicting the Effects of Unsteady Laminar Turbulent Or Transitional Boundary Layers on the Attenuation of Shock Waves in a Shock Tube with Experimental Comparison

Download or read book A Nonlinear Theory for Predicting the Effects of Unsteady Laminar Turbulent Or Transitional Boundary Layers on the Attenuation of Shock Waves in a Shock Tube with Experimental Comparison written by Robert L. Trimpi and published by . This book was released on 1958 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The linearized attenuation theory of NACA Technical Note 3375 is modified in the following manner: (a) an unsteady compressible local skin-friction coefficient is employed rather than the equivalent steady-flow incompressible coefficient; (b) a nonlinear approach is used to permit application of the theory to large attenuations; and (c) transition effects are considered. Curves are presented for predicting attenuation for shock pressure ratios up to 20 and a range of shock-tube Reynolds numbers. Comparison of theory and experimental data for shock wave strengths between 1.5 and 10 over a wide range of Reynolds numbers shows good agreement with the nonlinear theory evaluated for a transition Reynolds nuniber of 2.5 million.

Book A Method of Calibrating Airspeed Installations on Airplanes at Transonic and Supersonic Speeds by Use of Temperature Measurements

Download or read book A Method of Calibrating Airspeed Installations on Airplanes at Transonic and Supersonic Speeds by Use of Temperature Measurements written by John A. Zalovcik and published by . This book was released on 1950 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method of calibrating the static-pressure source of a pitot-static installation of an airplane at transonic and supersonic speeds by use of only instrumentation in the airplane is described. The method involves principally the use of temperature and measurements and is particularly suited for transonic and supersonic speeds at high altitudes. The accuracy of the method is also discussed.
