This book was released on 2017-11-18 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Method for Constructing Site Index Curves From Measurements of Tree Age and Height, Its Application to Inland Douglas-Fir For many years the most widely followed practice in describing forest site quality has been the use of a quantitative measuring system-site index curves. These must be developed for individual species and are supposed to represent the relationship between height and age of the average dominant and codomin'ant trees on the site. These curves can be derived from measurements that indicate height and age of selected trees at different periods in time, or from measurements of height and age at one point in time on a large number of trees that range in age from young to Old. This book was released on 2017-11-18 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Applying Height Growth and Site Index Curves for Inland Douglas-Fir Site index was defined to be the average total height of the three best site trees (per one-half acre) at an index age of 50 years at breast height. Because the length of time it takes a seedling to reach breast height may be strongly influenced by factors that are poorly related to site quality - such as animal damage, snow damage, and plant competition in the immediate vicinity of the seed ling (cochran 1979; Curtis 1964) - index age was located at breast height rather than the base of the tree. Hann and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Summaries from 49 published articles on site-index and dominant-heightgrowth curves and equations are presented for 20 tree species or species groups found in California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, southeastern Alaska, Idaho, and western Montana. The summaries are organized by species. Each summary describes the modeling approach, type of curves/ equations, base age, and type of age presented in the article. In addition, the geographic location, number of trees or plots, range in age, and range in site index used to develop the curves/equations are also described.

This book was released on 2018-01-08 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Height-Age and Site Index Curves for Pacific Silver Fir in the Pacific Northwest Equations were developed to estimate the number of years free-growing trees need to reach breast height for the range of site index values. Conversion equations are provided to estimate height at age 50 for curves representing index heights at age 100. The results give forest managers working tools for use in managing silver fir. Keywords: Site index, Pacific silver fir, Abies amabilis, height growth, dominant, stem analysis, Pacific Northwest.
