Book excerpt: Stop being a poser. Start being a Christian. Is your faith for real? How about your walk? If everyone who claimed to love Jesus actually did, this world would be pretty close to paradise. Yet we live in a time when being a poser is not only easy, it’s rewarded—especially where Jesus is concerned. But claiming to love Jesus without following him is bogus, fraudulent, and—frankly—it’s not you. God has called you to be set apart, to live authentically, to walk a genuine Jesus Swagger. He wants followers, not pretenders. From Christian blogger Jarrid Wilson, Jesus Swagger is about calling out the phony, showing the pretender the door, and letting Jesus in instead. If you are suspicious of your own motivations, your own talk, or even your own Christianity, it’s time to be honest, come clean, and get real. It’s time to take the Jesus Swagger litmus test and start walking the walk.

Book Reflections From God s Word

Download or read book Reflections From God s Word written by Lynn Miller and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-04 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reflections from God's Word: A Guide to Jesus for the Family of Christ has been a labor of love and a joy to write for Lynn Miller. This book was written as a tool to help children and their parents develop a closer relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through God's Word. The Bible lessons in this book are designed to be read together as a family. The family also prays together while reading this book. Praying together strengthens loving bonds of natural and Christian family ties. At the end of each lesson, there are Quick Notes to Parents that offer intricate details concerning the lesson's focal points, some definitions and important information about spiritual issues. African and Hebrew Proverbs offer parallel examples of each lesson's main idea. It is the author's hope that this book will help children and their parents to develop a strong desire for prayer and more opportunities to read the Bible together as the family of Christ. Mrs. Lynn Miller, a retired early childhood/elementary schoolteacher, lives with her husband, Willie Miller in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Miller received both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education from National College of Education of National Louis University in Evanston, Illinois. She loves to serve the Lord "whenever and however he calls" her to serve Him; and has done so since her childhood. Her parents, Mr. Jesse and Mrs. Alathia Evans taught her and her brother by example, that it is a blessing to love and serve the Lord. She teaches Sunday School at her church, Evangelistic Crusaders Church of God in Christ in Chicago, Illinois, where her husband serves as an Elder (2nd Associate) to the Pastor. This is her first book. She plans to write more books that help children to learn more about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Book Jesus After 2000 Years

    Book Details:
  • Author : Gerd Ludemann
  • Publisher : Prometheus Books
  • Release : 2010-05
  • ISBN : 1615925813
  • Pages : 704 pages

Download or read book Jesus After 2000 Years written by Gerd Ludemann and published by Prometheus Books. This book was released on 2010-05 with total page 704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is widely recognized by New Testament scholars that many of the sayings and actions attributed to Jesus in the gospels cannot be factually traced to him. The gospels, written many decades after the death of Jesus, are composites of hearsay, legends, and theological interpolations, reflecting the hopes and beliefs of the early Christian community more than the actual teachings of the Galilean prophet.Despite these difficulties, Gerd Lüdemann shows in this fascinating analysis of early Christian documents that the tools of historical research can succeed in reaching at least a close approximation of some of the original words and deeds of Jesus. Unique in its comprehensiveness, Jesus After 2000 Years covers the canonical gospels, as well as the more recently discovered Gospel of Thomas and apocryphal Jesus traditions. Lüdemann concludes with a short life of Jesus in which he pieces together in narrative form what can be known about Jesus based on the historical evidence. Also included is an index of all authentic sayings and actions of Jesus. For all those with an interest in Christian origins, this volume is an invaluable resource.

Only a very few people make it to the point of becoming financial independent. In this rat race of getting more and more things, do we still realize what the real purpose of life could be? We have entered a time of great uncertainty. Many nations are close to insolvency. Currencies lose value over night. Nations who embraced socialism have no money to support their illusion. People like you and me will ask the question: I wonder why I am always broke? Where are you today? Are you one of the few who have been preserved from being broke? When will you lose or have to give up your wealth? Daniel has studied the Word of GOD. He has seen a lot of things in this fallen world which do not add up and which do display corruption to the highest degree. Does GOD have a plan? Does the Bible teach a prosperity Gospel? More than ever before are believers and non-believers confused about the teaching of the Bible about wealth. Does the Bible really predict an economical collapse of unmeasureable proportions? Find out what Daniel discovered where true wealth can be found. Are you prepared for the things that will strike this earth? Where is your faith?

Book What Shall We Do

    Book Details:
  • Author : Joseph M. Lear
  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2018-03-16
  • ISBN : 1498243568
  • Pages : 202 pages

Download or read book What Shall We Do written by Joseph M. Lear and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2018-03-16 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 1960s, biblical scholars have noted a relationship between eschatology and ethics in Luke-Acts, but to date there has been no substantive study of the relationship between these themes. What Shall We Do? offers such a study. Lear observes and develops a logic that Luke--Acts presents that begins with eschatological expectation and ends with a particular pattern of life, especially with regard to possessions. He makes the bold claim that Luke has not given up on eschatological expectation. The healing of the cripple (Acts 3), Cornelius's conversion (Acts 10), and the shipwreck narrative (Acts 27-28) are figurative stories of coming eschatological salvation. In this context, Lear demonstrates that the sharing of possessions becomes the means by which a new eschatological people is formed. At the beginning of Luke's Gospel, John the Baptist says the true children of Abraham will escape the coming judgment because they share their possessions. The logic of this claim is worked out throughout Luke's two volumes, culminating in barbarian Maltans becoming children of Abraham because they hospitably receive the Apostle Paul.
